Avoid this mess of a practice -the worst group I have ever dealt with . They are disorganized , rude when greeting patients and the overall mood is one of indifference . The doctor I loved , Dr Au , was forced to leave so some PA's could be paid less . A true travesty since she saved my life by detecting a malignant melanoma. The people left working have no clue , could care less and if you are worried about a skin lesion I suggest you find a better dermatology group . She or they don't even explain what medication they are prescribing you and if you want them to change your medication you can't even get through to them...when you do get through they need to put in a note for the doctor of whom you saw and even yet the doctor does not change your medication because you had past issues with a certain medication. Terrible experience. Physician asst spent 95% of my visit with back to me entering answers to lifestyle questions. Finally looked at skin for 1 min and writes script without explaining anything and not listening to my questions or caring about my concerns. I WISH I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE NEGATIVE STARS lol where do I start let's see they gave me cortisone shots for my cysts promising nothing dangerous could happen and low and behold I got DENTS in my face. Mind you I was assured I was in good hands and they put about 15 of these in my face all together. Fortunately only two left deep dents and they went away after like 5 months. It was very traumatizing. Dr silver performed these I do not recommend him. The staff is rude and the waiting time is ridiculous. I waited an HOUR AND A HALF. The ONLY good person here was Jocelyn Lieb but she left and has her own place in Mahwah. I strongly recommend her. read more

I scheduled my first appointment with Dr. Barry Silver today at 9:45 AM. At 10:15 I had still not been seen so I asked the receptionist to check what was holding it up. I was told that there were still 3 more people ahead of me and thus I wouldn't be seen for my 9:45 appointment until after 11:00. No excuses given except "the Doctor is busy". We are not talking a late afternoon appointment where possibly things fall behind. Obviously they book multiple people for the same time slot and have no regard for their patients time. Obviously I will never go there again. read more

This is one of the most poorly organized and unethical doctor office I have ever visited. My experience was horrible, from the beginning to the end. My family doctor referred me to the this practice. However, when I called for appointment. The first lady asked me lots of questions and then transferred me without saying a word. The second lady asked all the same questions again, and transferred again without saying anything. The third lady started asking all the same questions again! Maybe they thought my case was not profitable enough. I had to give up. Several weeks later, I called again, this time I got the appointment without any problem. When the doctor came in, I realized why it was so easy this time. She was not the doctor I was referred to. Because she was apparently new and young and knew no more than the medical assistant. The assistant help her answer some questions. I spent time and money just for some advices could be found on wiki. Should they pay me help traning their doctor? Not to mention that the waiting is pailnfully long and the receipnists were not helpful at all. Several weeks later, I received a bill from them with advertisement materials. They asked me to pay $10 more copay because the receptionist made a mistake. I believe they did this on purpose, so they can send you marketing materials to follow up. This happened several years ago, but I felt it is my duty to share my experience here because I found the doctor office was making false 5 start reviews for themselves on Google. I have been a patient here for about 2-3 years and will no longer be coming back. The receptionists are extremely rude and give inaccurate wait times when checking in. The director of the practice, Dr Fox, hurried me through my visit answering questions very abruptly and made the assumption that since I was Asian I did not go in the sun so light sensitive medications would be fine for me to take! All his notes were also entered into the computer by his assistant and she entered in the wrong dose for my medication. When I brought up the fact that I had waited over 90 minutes for him he didnt apologize whatsoever. My follow up appt was supposed to be with Dr Lieb but when I arrived I was told I had an appt with a new Dr. Turns out she is a temporary MD and is also new to her profession. Lovely person, but not worth the wait. If you like factory type medical practices with grouchy receptionists and extremely long waits - make your appt! read more

I have been to the Ridgewood location maybe 4 times. The wait times were reasonable and the staff was good. But the most important reason I was there was to prevent a problem with skin cancer. One visit they located a small spot on my face that was suspicious. It turned out to be cancerous. They removed it with moh surgery then a plastic surgeon closed it up. I'm so glad he did. The healing time was about 1/3rd and no scar. People are complaining about some odd things on his reviews. I found the doctors to be extremely skilled. And I've had experiences in the past with one Doctor at a different practice clearly removing something that was not cancerous for financial gain. So I would definitely recommend them. read more

I went for a visit and saw the dr for a minute payed a $50 copay and forgot to ask the dr a question and called 10 minutes later to speak to nurse and they transferred me to a voicemail and called all day and never got a call back called the next day and asked to Speak to a supervisor and they refused to talk to me, they don't know how to treat patients this was my first and last visit if I could give -10 stars I would stay away from this practice they don't believe in costumer service or patient satisfaction. read more

RUDE! Asked for a 1 tube refill of excema cream until my appointment the following week as I ran out. I was told no and go get something over the counter. (Which is not strong enough) as I explained and they refused to do anything about it and said then go to an urgent care. What a joke. The office receptionists have always been rude from the get go since my first time there years ago, but so close to my hOuse I overlooked it. Dr . Silver was my doc of the day it was my first time ever coming and it was awesome! Staff worked quick and efficiently and were so nice. I got admitted quickly for my what I thought was just my consultation but the doctor ended up giving me injections that day. They weren't painful at all and I can't wait to see the results over time. I come back in a month and I'm excited too. His assistant (I forgot her name sadly:( ) was super nice and understanding and cool! She was really caring I liked that. Also dr. I've been going here for just over a year mainly due to the fact that I didn't like my previous dermatologist, but I also really needed to address my acne and tons of freckles/sun spots. My regular doctor is Karen Duarte and she's great. Very thorough and makes sure to address any questions or concerns that I have. I will admit that I still have yet to get breakouts under control, but they gave me a ton of these little sample tubes of an acne cream that works really well when I need it. The prescription was far too expensive to pay for (even after insurance). My most recent experience was with Dr. Lieb. Hands down, BEST dermatologist I've ever seen. I had to have a spot removed from my back that was worrisome to both myself and the doctor. Not only did she talk to me and joke around throughout the entire procedure, but she told me everything she was doing so I knew what was going on as it was happening. She knew my wedding is less than 9 months away, so she said she was going to do everything she could to make sure the scar on my back was as small as possible. The scar itself isn't very small, but it's been over 3 weeks and I can honestly tell you that I can barely see it. She did a fantastic job! I'm really happy with the results and I highly recommend her. Despite the fact that there does tend to be a longer wait time to see a doctor here, I have yet to have a bad experience at this place. The front desk staff are not the most organized/friendly people, but to me, I care more about the personalities and attitudes of the doctors who are treating me. read more

Due to Obamacare we were no longer able to see our dermatologist and scheduled an appointment at this practice. The experience was so bad 45 minute wait, a healthcare team that was unprofessional and impersonal with total lack of patient care skills. As soon as we got to the parking lot my teens both commented negatively about their experience and made it clear we needed to keep looking for a new dermatologist. Is it weird that I actually like going to the dermatologist? Well, after you make an appointment with Doctor Jocelyn Lieb, you will probably feel the way I do. She is a fantastic dermatologist, is very thorough, and actually is very funny. It is rare to be amused and entertained by a doctor, especially by a reputable doctor. Well, I don't go to doctors to be entertained, but, she manages to do so, all while ensuring and enhancing my health, wellness, and (importantly) longevity and looking as good as possible! I didn't even want to give them one star!! My husband Arrived at the office at 4:45 today with our son's for a 5:00 appointment (I arrived at 5:10 to meet them). At 5:40 my husband asked how much longer, receptionist said there is one person ahead of us. That patient who was before us said she was 15 minutes late and they made her wait over an hour and a half At 5:58 they put us in a room. At 6:20 I walked out and ask how much longer, the girl at the desk was like " I don't know where his nurse is but you are next". At 6:32 we decide enough was enough and proceeded to the front desk to get our copay back. What totally angered us the most at no point did anyone say he was running late or even "we are sorry". We were left sitting in the exam room for over 30 minutes. The first appointment we waited 40 mins for a 5 minute office visit. read more

I go to Advanced Dermatology once a month, when Dr Fox is at the Ridgewood, NJ office. Dr Fox is super friendly, and I look forward to my appt's with him. He is very well educated, and graduated at the top of his class in school. He has also written publications on techniques that he invented. I travel about an hour to see him, because he is such a good dermatologist. He is kind and patient, and has a good sense of humor, as well. I like his staff, too. They always greet me, and are good with scheduling appt's. Each time I go to visit Dr Fox, I bring a list my concerns, and he happily addresses every one. He is up on all the newest techniques. I highly recommend Dr. Fox. He's the BEST! read more

Wish I could give this place negative stars. I am so disappointed on how they left my neck that now I have to go and try to get the scar lasered off somewhere else. NUMEROUS people ask me daily what happened to my neck. It look like I have a "hickie". And that doesn't even begin to tell half the story. I made an appointment here for a skin rash that I had been dealing with. When I first called to inquire about a new patient visit I was told the cost was $125-$150. I do have insurance but I always ask because I do know that I will have to pay some out of pocket cost. I was seen by a PA named Xena. She could not tell me what my rash was so she proceeded to say I need to have a skin biopsy which I was hesitant on. In fact she wanted to do several and even one on my face but I had a holiday party the next week and I said No to the face one. She proceed to the biopsy but at the same time told me that I needed to put a cream on the rash and it would go away. Why so needed to do a biopsy then was beyond me if she said it just needed cream. I went to the pharmacy, got the cream and used to for a few days and saw no change in my rash. I also called the office SERVERAL times to get the stiches removed from my biopsy and could not get an appointment. In fact I reached a point after serveral days of no being able to schedule that I said I would go to anyone at that point to get them removed because my treating PA was not available. They waited so long that when I finally was seen, the stiches had already grown in my skin and it was so painful and hard to remove that the new PA told me "my body would just kick them out". To make matters worse, I get the bill in the mail. I specifically called to ask how much a new patient visit is and spoke even know who I spoke to- Marilyn- because I have seen this so many time. I was quoted a $125-$150 and was billed $250.00 for just the initial walk and another $250 for a biopsy that was not needed. They billed my insurance $500 for a visit to look at rash that never cleared up. I even spoke to Xena after and told her the rash was still there and she simply said keeping using the cream. Then I get an additional bill from Lapcorp for $112 for the biopsy testing. My insurance covered about half and I am stuck paying $309 for NOTHING. I called several times to dispute the bill. No one ever called my back not even corporate. Corporate representative named Carolina told me Monica, the office manager left several messages. That's funny- I don't have my voicemail set up so how did you leave a message? At that point I felt like they were just buying themselves time so that my bill can be pushed into collections. I finally called consecutive four times in one day after 5 weeks of attempts and finally spoke to Monica who was beyond hostile and rude. She said the quote I was given was for people with no insurance to give them a break and she would educate her employees better. That doesn't help me! I told her I can't imagine that they billed $500 for a simple rash and she proceed to tell me things that did not make sense, that my biopsy was on my hip and not my neck and I never went in to get the stiches removed. The bill said I was seen by Dr. Barry Silver which I was not and Monica said that Xena no longer worked. I told her she has to be looking at the wrong chart and she said she wasn't. And here I am as a write this review WITH NO RESOLUTION. Monica told me she would get back to me after she speaks with the corporate manager and nothing. Feel like they pulled a major insurance stunt, overbilled my insurance and when the insurance only covered some of it I was left with this massive bill. The original issue with the rash is persistent and I made Monica aware of this and offered no help, not even a simple would you like us to re-look at it. I am reporting this to the BBB with hopes of a better resolution. read more

I had an appointment scheduled for 1:45PM and I was not even seated in an exam room until 3:15PM. The doctor did not come in for another 10 minutes. This is COMPLETELY unacceptable office management. Dermatology is competitive and offices are replaceable. What makes an office great is well-managed appointments and quality physicians. The physicians here are reasonable (had some experiences with attitude from Dr. Au when I went in to ask about laser hair removal..), but whoever manages the office support staff is ineffective at their job. With an appointment (re: NOT a walk-in), I should be able to be in and out start to finish within the 90 minutes I had to wait for my appointment to be seen. If you are running late (which cannot be the excuse EVERY time I am in the office..), be fully transparent when the patient signs in. If it is not critical for them to be seen that day, they can leave, which saves them the trouble of possibly needing to cancel or reschedule OTHER plans they made after the skin appointment because they had to wait so long. Another idea- WiFi in the waiting room. The building provides no cell service. So imagine being stuffed into a cramped waiting room and no way to check or send emails or possibly do anything productive while having to wait 90 minutes for your scheduled appointment. read more

I have gone to the practice three times. I should have given up the first time, but I tend to give people second chances. Each time I was asked to see the P.A., who failed to effectively treat a pre-cancerous lesion. I made an appointment to see an MD today to see if this problem could be effectively addressed and to also discuss some cosmetic procedures. Came here for the first time the other day to get a lump removed from my scalp. They told me over the phone they would do it that evening but turned out they did not leave enough time for the appointment. This is a busy office with many doctors. They do have evening hours on Tuesday and early morning hours on Friday and the doctor was very accommodating. She finished up with two patients and even stayed after her shift that evening 30 minutes to remove the lump. read more

After waiting an hour after my scheduled appointment time, I finally was seen. How nice after waiting four weeks for the appointment to begin with. Dr silver was terrible- dismissing my first skin check as something I didn't need. What? Is this some kind of scam? Hope the patients get cancer so you can bank off their insurance?Two female assistants were in the room during my check, which made me feel like so sort of circus side show. Being half naked and analyzed by two not so pretty women- prison. Just like prison. I'm finding another more professional office. One that excepts speed pass instead of this place. Mostly good service, I visit on average once a year, but this time for cancer screening only, and Dr Barry Silver suggested that I take an injection for a spot on my thigh, and was very positive that it will "disappear" in one week. A month and a half later, no change other than the extra charge for the injection which is considered a surgical procedure to the insurance company. I know there are no guarantees in medicine, but Dr Silver implied that it will positively go away, no doubts, and sold me the injection concept. I called them and they will honor a visit with no co-pay and have Dr Fox get second eyes on the skin spot. For that they get a honest positive review. Dr. Silver misdiagnosed and mistreated my ringworm to the point of it becoming systemic. I now have to take a course of anti-fungal pills which are highly damaging to the liver. The pills were prescribed by another doctor by the way, Dr. Silver insisted I use the WRONG cream which doesn't kill fungus it just prevents it from multiplying. If you are a wrestler/BJJ guy STAY AWAY! P.S. If I could give less than one star I would. read more
