I had never had one before, and had no idea what to expect. On top of that, I have some pretty intense dental phobia from bad past dental experiences, so I usually take Valium the night before and morning of dental procedures. But Dr. Cory managed to put me enough at ease to go ahead with the procedure *sans Valium* on the spur of the moment. NGL, it was not my favorite way to spend a morning, but he and his staff were so caring and patient, they made the experience easier than I ever would have imagined. So I am going to stick with this Dentist office, even though scheduling time for cleanings is nearly impossible if you miss an appointment. The ability to put me at ease during a procedure is a rare quality, and worth any inconveniences I might have going forward.

She's personable and has a soft touch with a scraper. It was my first time here. I checked in, and electronically signed some standard (or what I thought were standard) consent forms. The receptionist had the hard copies on the counter, briefly explained what each form was, and I signed an electronic pad. This is at the heart of my issue with this business. After I E-signed, she also gave me some additional hard copy forms to look over and sign. They were standard medical background forms. When I was done with my appointment, what I'm guessing was the billing dept told me that I owed $10. My insurance covers all costs incurred in annual exams, so this surprised me. I asked what the charge was for and she just said "PPE fees". I asked what those were, and she shortly replied, "For the Personal Protective Equipment... Did you sign the form? Yes, you did sign it." When she mentioned a form, I assumed I had missed something on the paperwork I had been given and just decided to pay it. I left, with $10 less in my pocket, a future appointment in June, and a request for an estimate for a night guard and a crown with my insurance company. When I got in my car, I realized that the "form" that I had signed about PPE fees was probably one of the forms I signed electronically. I'll admit, the receptionist mentioned my responsibility for charges not covered by insurance (which seems to be a pretty standard statement), but she never mentioned a PPE fee. Why wasn't I given hard copies of the forms that I had signed electronically? I'm guessing, because buried somewhere in those forms is the explanation of the PPE charges. Pretty deceptive if you ask me. I'm angry at myself for paying. When I walked out of the office, I had a few thousand dollars in future business lined up for Midwest Dental. They lost that business over a greedy $10 PPE fee. Talk about taking advantage during a pandemic. The $400 dollars that you got from my insurance company wasn't enough? When I called to cancel my insurance estimate and my future appointment, I was asked why. I told Megan--I believe it was Megan, that I didn't think a $10 fee was helpful in building a long term relationship. Instead of explaining why the fee was necessary, she just mentioned that other places were charging $20. She was short and unpleasant on the phone.

We met with the Dr. O and his team, discussed my daughter case, and they were clear that she does not need to come back into the office. The Dentist planned out how my daughter will be scheduled at the surgery center at Children's Hospital and his team will reach out to me to schedule a date and time. We met in February, I was told the only earliest and available appointment at the surgery center will be at the end of July 2025. I was okay with it, just wanted my daughter to get the proper treatment asap. In April of 2025, I received a phone call to confirm the appointment at the surgery center at Children's Hospital via patient portal and confirmation by phone with his staff. I received a scheduled document of what to expect and time surgery takes place, time I should bring her in prior the surgery time. We waited for this day, she missed out on her last day of school, I missed work, and the surgery center told us my daughter was not scheduled to complete any procedure. I showed them the scheduled letter I received from her dental office. They recommended me to call my pediatric dentist office. I called the dental office, asking them about our appointment at the surgery center. The receptionist, "Kenzie" told me the appointment was under "pending," because I never confirmed with them since I took my daughter in February. I specifically told them their staff called me to confirm the date and time after our face-to-face appointment in the spring. Kenzie looked back to the last communication they had with me, told me "Yes, looks like someone called you in April about the appointment." She then said she can look and see if their is any "emergency surgery" appointment available, then said, " Well, looks like there is nothing open." I requested for the dentist or owner to call me back as my time was wasted, my daughter's condition is worsening as days go by. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL dentist and facility!!!! DON'T RECOMMENDED to NO FAMILIES! They are rude, especially the dentist calling back to put the blame back at me, repeating " I have not communicated and confirmed!" Dr. "O," and his unprofessionalism, does not look into solving the problem as trying to reschedule another appointment or apologize to how long they made us waited, instead he only wants me to go through my call log to make sure they are the one who called me! Excused me! As a parent who waited for a year for this referral, 5 MONTHS for this appointment, this is the only clinic we have visited since February 2025 and planned out her appointment to happen this July. I am not here to pick fight with the unprofessional who thinks he has a case to fight; I too work in the health industry as well, who his advocating for my child's wellbeing and had trusted in your plan of care for my child. Dr. O, owner of your own business, if you are really here for your community and care for children's dental health as much as you addressed on your core values of your company, PERFORM! Your actions and professionalism are narcissistic; I do not recommend this dentistry to no community; this dentistry has NO RESPECT, NO PROFESSIONALISM, NO DIGNIFIED CARE & COMPASSION at their job and work! If you want your voice and concern as a parent to be heard, this is not the place to take your child, especially vulnerable children.
