If you are in need of an automotive repair, may I encourage you to read this review? My friend introduced me to Kutter and Kambria at Advanced Automotive Repair in Oakhurst when I moved to Coarsegold. I've since brought both of my cars to Advanced for routine maintenance. Each time, for each car, a routine diagnostic review of the car was performed, and any irregularities were noted. This emulates, exceeds dealership customer service and definitely "raises the bar". Both Kambria and Kutter, have and continue to make me feel like I am their only client. Always engaging, patient, avid listeners, knowledgeable and when it comes to diagnosing a concern, their collective perspective is like "a homing device on a torpedo". Their team's work acumen and ethics are "a cut above" in the automotive industry; the focus; pleasing the customer. And, their pricing is beyond competitive. When I took my 2014 Charger SXT to Advanced for the first routine service, they noted that the upper control arms and ball joints needed to be replaced, suggested a brake system flush, wheel alignment and rear shocks. When I purchased the car in 2018 (pre-owned), I also purchased a Chrysler "Max Care" lifetime warranty. I called Glenn Thomas Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Long Beach who regularly serviced the car and asked if the control arm, ball joint repair was covered by the warranty and was assured it was. I thanked Kambria for the alert, advised her I would be taking the car to Fresno for the repair, the cost of which almost paid for the warranty. When I brought the car to the Fresno dealership, the service writer offered to beat the cost that Kambria quoted for the brake flush and alignment. I thanked him and advised him that I had already agreed to have the two repairs done at Advanced. When I called Kambria from the dealership and shared the offer, she said she would "completely understand if I had the dealership do the alignment and brake flush since the car was there". In today's "fast and loose" business community, who does that? My response to Kambria; an agreement is an agreement. I brought the car to Advanced for the two repairs. Kambria and Kutter consistently make me feel like I am their only customer. How many members of that club are still around? We were on vacation to Yosemite Valley. Our truck brakes had been glazed with the windy road and on arrival at the Park gate we could smell the burning! Once inside the Park tow group referred us to Advanced Auto Center and towed our vehicle for diagnosis. Kutter diagnosed the issue, provided the necessary replacement parts and did the repairs overnight. We collected our vehicle the next day, along with a 24 month nationwide warranty. Kutter and his crew were incredibly honest (costs far below what would have been at home) and efficient. What a breath of fresh air! He also suggested some other diagnostics once home. We cannot recommend Kutter and his crew any higher. They were amazing, competent and a relief to deal with! read more

Yesterday while out exploring our surroundings we managed to get locked out of our running truck as we were admiring the geological exact center of California. Onstar was unsuccessful with many attempts unlocking due to the lack of reception and sent a tow truck to rescue us. After 2 hours in 100+ weather "Our knight in shining mechanic uniform" (aka Josh Duhamel look alike) Robert R. came to our rescue with a blood pressure cuff looking apparatus and within minutes we were inside an ice cold truck and headed back home. I can't speak more highly of these folks! They are awesome. We were in the area on vacation when our 2008 Mazda CX-9 lost power steering. This happened on a Wednesday morning when we were just about to drive into Yosemite. Advanced Automotive Center was recommended by AAA so we gave them a call. Cambria answered the phone and was super friendly and helpful from the very start. Even though they were fully booked, Kutter agreed to work on the car both after hours and before the shop opened. He couldn't guarantee they could fix it but said they would diagnose the problem and see what they could do. Not only that, Kutter asked if we wanted a rental car in the meantime so we could still go to Yosemite and continue our vacation; and it turned out they are also a Hertz agency! So we rented a car (very quickly and smoothly), which enabled us to continue with our driving and vacation plans. They found that the problem was a cracked hose but the part was not available from Mazda. Impressively Cambria was able to track down a suitable hose, and they were able to have the car fully repaired by Friday morning, just in time for our return drive back home! And the cost was unbelievably reasonable, especially given this was a rush job that they did after hours. My car's automatic transmission warning light came on just outside of Oakhurst, on our way into the Yosemite Valley to go tent camping. While we were at AAC waiting to get diagnosed and hear the results, I saw firsthand the relationship they have with their local customers. They know their customers by name, ask about their families, and take time with them as they set them up for their routine appointments. I also realized how often they must have travelers come through, flustered by bad luck in the midst of a high pressure situation threatening their vacation. If you are an out-of-towner, please recognize that they have a business that services their local customers as well, and be willing to wait patiently and breathe deeply so that you can treat the AAC staff with kindness. Through our experience, it is clear that the staff will do everything they can in their power to care for you as well. (Not that everything is in their power, but if they can do it for you, they will, especially if there is mutual respect given!) We were so appreciative of how they took care of us (even calling a friend with an Air Bnb when we needed a place to stay while they fixed the car and then driving us to our hotel!) that we stopped off on our way home to thank them and give hugs. This place is absolutely the worst autoshop I have ever been to. I was towed in and told them first thing in the morning that I had to get back home that night because of important appointments the following day. First, they took hours to run diagnostics, then attempted to overcharge me by $400 and finally would not even communicate with me what was going on with my car. I had to have my father call to actually get them to say what was wrong with the car and I am a fully grown adult. They told him at 3 pm they couldn't start my car until later that day because they were finishing a car they had since November. Absurd. They were rude, unhelpful and dishonest. The distress their staff caused me was so unnecessary if they were just honest but they tried to swindle me of hundred of dollars. I genuinely have a burning hate for this place. read more

Coming back from Yosemite on Sunday 3/28/21,we stopped for gas in Oakhurst,Ca. Brakes had heated up and the pedal was to the floor. All auto repair shops were closed, so called AAA for a tow to their preferred shop. We were towing a trailer, so decided to wait for the brakes to cool off. After about an hour the pedal returned. The tow truck driver, Benjamin said to go to Advanced Auto Center and park the vehicle and trailer in their parking lot and they would check it out in the morning. After disconnecting the trailer a car drive up, and Benjamin stepped out and just wanted to make sure we got there safely.In the morning the shop opened and We were met by The service mgr. Cutter. He explained that our brake pads were fine, and the problem was the trailer brake adjustment. He checked that out and suggested we adjust the brakes at a higher setting. Tried to pay him for the service and he refused payment, and said he was happy to help. We made the drive back home safely. A week later Cutter called me back to make sure we got home safe. I had my brakes replaced here a little over a year ago when living in Coarsegold. I have a Toyota Rav4L. Almost immediately after they were replaced they started making a terrible clunking noise which got louder as I slowed down. My husband took it back not once but twice and was assured the brakes were fine and the proper parts had been used. They've made noise off and on since I had them replaced. Fast forward to now and they are clunking even worse. We've been to 2 places and both places confirmed it was the brakes making the sound and that though the sound is annoying, the brakes were still safe. The noise got so bad last Thursday that we ended up taking the car to a Toyota dealership. They immediately told us the noise was from improper parts and if we wanted them fixed it would cost us $1200. Just so wrong on so many levels. read more

Richard was super awesome today. We brought our Wrangler by after coming through Sierras and noticed a hose came loose within the last day. He happily came outside, crawled under to confirm his suspicion that it was from the differential. He assured us that there were no immediate repair concerns and we could easily go about our travels and take it in when we get home. I wish more auto repair shops were this helpful and quick. He zip tied the hose in place to prevent rattling and any possible further contamination. The best part? He did all that for a handshake and a smile. Thanks so much Richard!! read more

Outstanding, honest, caring service! My transmission quit and overheated while driving out of Yosemite Valley and I called AAA for a tow to the nearest AAA authorized shop, Advanced Automotive. While waiting for the tow Richard of Advanced Auto, phoned and asked me what the problem was and made arrangements for his technician to be ready to work on the car as soon as I got there--and they did. They diagnosed the problem--radiator, transmission lines etc., over a day's worth of work. Joey, their Hurtz rep found me a rental car with hand controls--but in Fresno. Helmi, the technician, showed me the broken parts. Kutter helped me find a room in Fresno as the rental car would not be ready until the next day and Richard gave me ride to Fresno to get the car! When I came back Monday, my car--which I thought was a total loss--was in perfect running condition and had been checked and re-checked to make sure the engine and transmission were solid. The rates are very fair--what one expects to pay for a top knotch professional shop AND they discussed the costs and aspects of the repairs before proceeding. read more
