To the staff at Kimball Animal Hospital - we are FURRever grateful for you!…read more I have an ancient cat (age unknown until Kimball) - who was in need of serious dental care. His normal hefty self was withering down to absolutely nothing and I felt like the worst cat mom ever. The staff at Kimball Animal Hospital went above and beyond. Scooping him up like he was one of their very own and taking the best care of him. Honestly, I've never met staff who understand the pain of potentially losing the oldest animal in a home filled with kids who love them until these kind folks. Heather, took me aside personally and explained absolutely -everything- and took the time to discuss what needed to be done and how, along with his chances of survival given his age. Despite the odds, I was convinced I would not be coming home with our old man and I am overjoyed to be able to say HE IS HOME and doing SO WELL! He's eating. He's cuddly. He's a very happy cat and our entire family is so happy he is still with us. THANK YOU KIMBALL ANIMAL HOSPITAL! All our animals will be coming here now.

Even though they changed to blue Pearl, they still have the same staff. 6 years ago my 5 year old shihtzu's neck stiffened, had ongoing non-stop muscle contractions in her chest, and began screaming in pain. Took her to dogwoods/now blue Pearl- where we met Dr. Issac. Dr. Issac quickly diagnosed what was going on after a few tests, (autoimmune meningitis). He was candid and honest about the condition- and how with treatment my pup had a 60 percent chance of living with a good quality of life and without pain. After a very long time of meds and treatment, my pup survived and beat the meningitis! I can't begin to tell you how warm and helpful the staff and Dr Issacs were to my entire family. This Place is expensive but worth the money for your furry family member. Thank you DogWood/Blue Pearl!

I switched to Blue Cross because their appointment availability is much sooner than other places,…read moresometimes even same-day. The staff is very friendly and compassionate. The doctor took time to sit with me and answer all my questions and concerns. They have medications on hand. They offer pre-invoices, so that you can always agree to the price before running tests. And they called me several times to ask how my cat was doing after the appointment. I had one cat go here for end of life care, one cat receive x-rays for fluid in the lungs, and a third cat currently receiving steroids for inflammation. She's also gotten blood work and the UTI workup here. I found that the doctors were knowledgable and helpful with FIV and FeLV+. As a pet parent with sick kitties, the staff cared for me as well as they cared for my cats. They communicated well through the whole process and called me with new ideas for behavioral issues.

The front office staff reached…read moreout to let me know when they received the records from my former vet, and were always very professional and friendly. We were welcomed and shown into a room immediately, and our vet tech was wonderful. Our cat is a big old scaredy cat, so we really appreciated how kind and gentle both the vet tech and Dr. Tate were, and that they were even nice enough to wrap our cat in a blanket they misted in calming pheromones. One reason we left our last vet was because they kept trying to sell us on every test and unnecessary thing our cat didn't actually need. So, I was really grateful Dr. Tate did a great exam, told us possible tests (i.e. blood work options) and then let us make our decision without judgement. We're so grateful we found Dr. Tate!

In the annual check-up she detected a heart murmur and "gravely sounds" in my 6 y/o cat's lungs. She said she didn't think there was a need for additional testing, and told me to keep an eye on his respiration rate - count it when he sleeps and call them if gets fast. I did that, and over the next few months called their office on 2 different occasions to report respiration that was just over the "fast" side. The person that answered the phone took the information and I was told there was not a concern. I brought my boy back for annual exam. The night before he had a bad coughing fit. I was told they did an x-ray and that his heart was enlarged and he was in hear failure. I was there over an hour waiting and knew something was wrong. I was sent to Blue Pearl in Southfield - told they had vet cardiologists there. (NEVER go to Blue Pearl - terrible!) Discovered the next day that Veterinary Cardiology Consultants had an office only a few miles north of Troy Vet Hospital! At Blue Pearl they diagnosed my boy with congestive heart failure / hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). This was approx. $3,500 visit - after spending about $700 at Troy Animal Hospital. I followed-up with Vet Cardiologist Consultant's for my cat's care. In the following 11 months I've spent another $2,000 - $3,000 on consultations, echocardiograms, fluid aspiration, monthly medications, supplements, holistic care. My boy was in advanced heart failure and died two days ago. I've learned along the way that in that initial annual check-up at Troy Animal Hospital in November 2017 that the heart murmur and gravely sounds detected in his lungs were early & strong indicators of cardio myopathy developing. I wasn't even offered the option of additional diagnostic testing - I would have done it! Instead told she "didn't think it was necessary at this time." If testing had been done and treatment started then he could have lived a long and healthy life with condition management. Instead, his quality of life deteriorated fast - he died at only 8 y/o - and it cost me approx. $7,000 in that 11 months along with so much stress, sadness and grief. My heart is broken. My boy was one of those special cats - the kind even people who hate cats love. He deserved better. I understand mistakes are made in life but this was inexcusable. I called twice to report fast breathing afterwards and they weren't concerned!! Is this a matter of being too busy to give proper attention? Why not suggest testing to rule out a potentially deadly condition developing? I wish I had never stopped going to my previous vet who specialized in cats. My boy would be alive.
