I highly recommended Advanced Academics, both for school and for camp. They are person centered, tier their learning plans to each individual students level, and are very hands on. They focus on real life skills and creativity. The class sizes are very small, around 5-6, and the teachers that my son had were very caring and skilled! read more

Our daughter started this academy when they first opened. We were here for 2.5 years and everything was great until a verbal incident that was not taken seriously and professionally. We she was fighting us, crying and begging us to not go randomly after never doing this in the 2.5 years she had been there, and we finally found out why. Yes the truly amazing teachers Mrs. Kay and Ms. Evelyn were miracle workers and absolutely helped our daughter and we still absolutely love and miss them. But the unprofessional responses and actions from the owner were why we absolutely had to pull our daughter out. We requested our daughters records and we still have not received them after multiple attempts and unanswered emails. We could never recommend this school to anyone. Also my Google review keeps magically disappearing and I've been blocked on Facebook. She never apologized to my daughter for the things that happened either. Absolutely disgusting behavior and that speaks volumes. read more

Established in 2020.

This campus was designed using best practices in education to allow our community to have a place for bright and creative students to flourish that was safe and made learning a fun life-long pursuit! Each year we have had an average of two years growth and allowed students to work at their own level in reading, writing and mathematics, making each learning day relevant. We have watched our student become personally motivated, critical thinkers, and enjoy expressing their learning creatively. Expecting students to be kind has made a big difference in our school climate and taken the fear away from parents who want a place for their children to learn without the typical private and public school problems. It's not as big as the Pooler Recreation Department, but it still does the job and offers a nice setup for games and practices. You can tell they run things smoothly. They have multiple sports available like baseball, softball, and soccer, which is great for families with kids involved in different activities. All in all, a solid recreation facility and a good place for local games.

During that 2 weeks, a little girl exposed herself to my son. This was dealt with appropriately. A few days later, a little boy in his class (a 4 year old) threatened to "stab, kill, and cut up" my son because (as the boy said) "he doesn't like white people" - the child also physically attacked Mrs Peggy after the higher-ups in the school ignored her request for help with the student twice in a row. The parents refused to be held accountable, and the school refused to acknowledge that there was a safety threat. Mrs. Peggy did everything right - the school and the parents (or really lack thereof) of the child are at fault. This is not a safe place to send your child.

THEIR "REPAIR" RUINED MY SOFA UPHOLSTERY! DON'T GO HERE!…read more The upholstery on my sofa detaches and is machine washable. I tore it while putting it back on. I asked them sew a similar fabric on the UNDERSIDE to reinforce it and keep it from ripping more. Didn't need to be perfect, I knew the tear itself could not be sewn together but patching and stitching the underside could mitigate the damage. I came to pick it up and BOTH SIDES were covered in a fabric patch that's not even a close match! I was told that there wasn't a way to reinforce it from the underside so they just did both. Even if that were true (it's not), why did no one call me FIRST and tell me the work I requested and paid for wasn't possible? This is a very basic ask of a professional tailor, it's unbelievable they got it so wrong! This patch is so much worse than the original tear. The sofa was custom made in Japan and is a one of a kind piece. Pics of the tear and what they did to it. The pics of the denim repair is an example of what I asked them to do.

We are so relieved that we finally made the decision to switch from public school to homeschool with Advanced Academics. One good thing that came from the Covid-19 pandemic is our inclination to dig deeper into the current education system and review all of the options available to educate our child. After multiple discussions with the owner, Lori Lewis, it was clear that she had the same vision of education that we did -- small class sizes, personalized learning, and developing confidence and critical thinking skills that he will carry with him forever. We were obviously concerned about how our 9 year old would react to leaving his school friends and not having lunch and recess with them, his favorite parts of the school day. But guess what? Not once, has he asked to go back to the public school. He is having way too much fun! He doesn't want to leave when it's time to go! On the other hand, he has made comments about his work being hard, which is great because I know he's being challenged. He has an excellent group of teachers to get him to the next level - HIS next level, not the level that public school says he should be. I've got to give a shout out to one of his teachers, Miss Evelyn. She found some common ground with him on day one that makes him want to go back each day. She is fun, energetic, and totally gets what the kids are in to these days. It is so refreshing to see and hear your child having an individual conversation with a teacher on a daily basis. Exceptional!!! We sought out Advanced Academics because we have a VERY active, energetic five year old boy. We were concerned that he would fall behind in school because he is not the "sit down and focus on one subject" type. We came across Advanced Academics and right away we were intrigued. Learning could be fun for him?? I won't lie it seemed too good to be true especially for our little man. Boy was I wrong!! When he came home day TWO and asked me to sit down with him so he could show me how his teacher showed him how to hold his pen and write his name I was blown away. Trying to get him to do anything that had to do with education took lots of bribing, and now he wanted to show me?? He even critiqued his own work saying that his "h" looked too much like a "b" he needed to fix it. I am so excited to see how much he is going to learn when this was day two results. The facility is open and cozy, everyone is warm and friendly, and most importantly he LOVES going. We are sooooooo grateful we have this option for him. If you are considering or looking to stray from the traditional cookie cutter schooling you will be more than impressed, and ecstatic to sign your kiddo up!! read more
