My grandson attends here and my first impression is that the staff is involved and positive. I don't know about the curriculum issues but I watched a large circle music class and then lunch. Children were engaged and happy. As a former counselor and preschool director I think this is a well run program. I don't think there are security issues as gates and doors were closed. I was immediately approached as this was my first visit. They explained the sign out procedure and checked to make sure I was approved as a pickup person. I may need to raise this review to 5 ***** after I get to know the school better.

They are unprofessional, poor communicators, and for some reason, kinda arrogant about their Montessori title - which is a joke. (They actually told me that the school was too structured for our child - literally the opposite of true Montessori programs.) Apparently, our (at the time 2yo) child had a hard time transitioning into this new environment, but no one communicated that there were any difficulties for over two weeks. In fact, every day at pick up, we got a great report. When they finally revealed to us that the child was having problems, the woman who called implied that there was great cause for concern and we should explore counseling/interventions for the child. That's a pretty significant and impactful recommendation for a child they knew for two weeks. And it left its mark on us. I responded by seeking counseling and therapy for the child, but got no engagement from the school on what we were doing, how they might could help, or how we could all work together to help the child have a better experience. The lady who called us is really just a bookkeeper, but she seems to run the school and was the primary communicator to us about our child's challenges. Despite having zero training or education in child development, she fancies herself an expert. She was really quite dismayed that my 2-almost-3 year old didn't have better coping mechanisms. I longed for our child's primary teacher to discuss with us the specifics of our child's challenges, but she was often gone when we picked up in the afternoon, and not yet there in the mornings when we dropped off. The teacher, at one point, suggested we go to her Facebook page to watch videos of how she interacts with her own daughter - not clear on what we were supposed to glean form this, but, that was an actual suggestion. Our child can have big feelings and sometimes exhibits those as two and three year olds are known to do. Of the four total phone calls I received, two were about the child being upset and inconsolable. The lady says to me, "I just don't know what to do. I mean, it happens so rarely that when I hear a child upset, I assume they are hurt because we just really don't see children cry here." What kind of crock is that? They run a day care for toddlers and they don't see their kids cry? They don't know how to console an upset two year old? Help me understand. These communications were not the full extent of our experience but I don't feel like hashing out every infraction. When we finally broke from the school, I felt a relief I didn't know possible. I had hated it so much but thought it was working for the little one, so I'd tried to make-do. Our child exhibited signs of relief as well and since transferring to another day school in the area, has continued to grow and develop in a lovely way, and not once have we received a frantic phone call telling us they don't know what to do. And just to top it off, they say they are not a religious school, but ask for religious affiliation on the app and they say/sing Christian prayers before meal time despite claiming to be secular. I only learned this after we had moved on, but it certainly added to my frustrations as we are not religious. Unless your kid qualifies to be a part of a Stepford family, I would avoid this place at all costs.

This YMCA didn't provide me a breakdown of what my toddler was going to go over. I didn't even know that was a thing until another YMCA gave me a welcome sheet at the first class! They set the standard high. It's summer, so there are a lot of people and summer camps, especially with it being a noon class. They could definitely increase the seating area for parents, and put more shaded areas. The pool is a little tight. The kids water play area is awesome, for babies and older kids. It's not a terrible YMCA, but it's definitely congested and I've experienced better instructors and customer service elsewhere.

But... the toilet was blocked and over flowing...stank.. not just a one off, plus 6am on morning. The sauna smell of old sweat... the hot tub had black scum around the top. Four inches of scum so not just an over sight. The steam room smelt stale. Plus the room at back of shower was either blowing or sucking the smell or moisture from or into the shower area. I am not sure why this issue is happening but the membership is not cheap and whilst i know its a charity, the cost of membership should cover cleanliness of the most basic form. I need to say i do cross fit at a clean location at $200 a month so the cost of membership is not the issue, but compromising my cancer treatment is. I am happy to remove this post if i am refunded my membership fee and the location rectifies this situation immediately.
