American Alarm's staff are very pleasant and professional and recognize you as a person not just a number. Their monitoring service has always been extremely quick to respond to any of our false alarms as well as any required service needs. Their pricing is another reason to sign on and stay on with American Alarm!!! I recommend them highly!!! Joe D

SANDY SPRINGS ALERT:…read more Update/response to Heather - Normally I just let things be after leaving a review but Heather's response is the one that is misleading. Original post is below the line (Yelp doesn't give the opportunity to respond directly) I do notice a pattern between Heather and Scott that the customer is always wrong when there is an issue. (For example, Heather was aware I was moving from the West Coast - Seattle (they had an annual permit that the home owner was responsible for and my alarm company told me prior what the rules were. ) Heather mentions that I received an email proposal - but the email chain shows I was directly informed about the rules in Sandy Springs only AFTER I brought it up. I guess I can post it if needed to show the actual chain of communication she references vs. just sharing a part of it. Also, Scott, twice told me on the phone that it was not his responsibility to have informed me of the Sandy Springs regulations). He also threatened me twice about libel (I literally had to ask him if he even knew the legal definition...that stopped that conversation). And I'm curious what my contract length and wanting a lower rate has anything to do with this...if you're having to stretch to find things to complain about a customer that is very lame. Again, I don't see any level of responsibility from them regarding the situation. To be fair, Scott did say they would allow me to cancel the contract - which I will see if he will hold to that after I find a new company. So, why did I wait to post this review? Having found out last minute, I accepted the contract as I was under a deadline to get the system installed and did not want to go through the process of trying to find another company (though I now wish I had). So, I accepted what was provided knowing I would be in it for the contract term. But as of late, they decided to keep sending me email after email after email asking for a review. Well, if they are going to persistent in asking for a review, I thought I would give them the one they deserved (vs. the one they wanted). _________________________________________________________________________________ SANDY SPRINGS ALERT! - it was only just before installation did I learn that the Sandy Springs Police Dept will only respond to alarms if they have a visual confirmation that there is a problem. (I guess, they had issues with many false alarms). I accidentally stumbled upon information on the True Verification which was verified by American Alarm. If I had not brought it up, I would have never known. And they could sell me a camera - but one camera was $270+ and they don't have the capability to monitor the cameras at their call center - SERIOUSLY!!! (If you just need a camera system go with Blink....if you need an alarm with a system that will call the police - I suggest simplisafe. ) And don't get me started on the service you get when they call when the alarm does go off-- one time, I couldn't remember my pass code and just said sorry (as I was heading to the control box to turn it off). The response -ok and we hung up. Obviously, I've been stuck in the contract but I'm hoping no one else will be fooled by American Alarm into thinking they have an actual working security system that will provide assistance.

Thanks, NorthStar, for making my decision that much easier to go with your competitor. UPDATE: So, does that mean you didn't bother reading my response to you (see screen shot of image I just uploaded from my reply immediately back to you). Again, you have proved my point. Maybe your reps are tied up bc they're in the phone trying to respond to all the negative customer service reviews, like mine. It took you *2 weeks* to respond and accuse me of "not responding" to you when I did so within hours. Nice. Second Update: I see Martha has retracted her comment to me on my review (hence what my first Update spoke to....now it doesn't make sense, but you get the picture of what happened). More proof this company doesn't "have it together." I strongly encourage those looking for a security system to look elsewhere, or at least do your research before committing to North Star. This company has given me the run-around and I'm not even a customer! There are many other companies that value your time and business more than North Star. I am a perfect example.

I'm writing this on a day that my neighborhood just went nuts because we had some door-to-door…read moresupposed alarm company sales people going around. I called NorthStar, my security company, to see if they'd ever heard of these guys and they told me that "reputable firms don't go door to door." That reminded me that I was overdue for writing them a review. My husband and I (well, my husband mostly), interviewed four or five firms before selecting this one. Their installers are also their sales guys. In other words, these are people who know their stuff. Nobody tried to sell us something we didn't need. The guy who came out - and followed us through some installation difficulties (way our house was built, not NorthStar's fault) - his name is Gary. He is friendly and SUPER knowledgeable. He explained things and then explained them again and gave my engineer-husband all the detail he wanted. But when I had a question and DIDN'T want the detail - he boiled it down for me. Their pricing was similar to other firms we talked with. Pay for the equipment and have lower monthly monitoring, or do a 3-yr contract with higher monthly monitoring and lower/no equipment costs. They give you several options to work with your budget. Bottom line is, they weren't significantly higher or lower than anybody else. We had our first "false alarm" the other day. Our nanny accidentally set off the alarm and while she was punching the code in downstairs, my husband was also punching it in on the keypad upstairs, which cancelled the whole thing. Kinda funny actually. The monitoring service called us WITHIN TWO MINUTES. I was glad to know they were on the ball just in case we need them for real some day. In the end, we went with this firm because they were the most knowledgeable, didn't have pushy sales people, so we felt confident we were getting the info we needed to make a good decision. Turned out to be a very good decision!

They offer a great package, competitive pricing, and top-notch customer service. Their system is so effective and thorough, that I feel like I live in Fort Knox, which is a great feeling for a woman who lives alone! Very straight-forward and easy system to use, and the company's responses to events are within seconds. Chuck, who has been with CPI for several years, is not only a terrific installer/technician who knows his job from top to bottom, but is always so happy to explain to the customer everything he's doing, and answer their questions and concerns thoroughly. He also ensures that his customers have all the security features that they want/need, prior to leaving their homes. He's also very intelligent and a lot of fun to be around. On the other hand, Michael S., who initially installed the CPI system in my current home, simply came in, did his work, and never really bothered to explain ANYTHING to me, unless I asked him a specific question. Even then, his response was very brief. And, thanks to Chuck, I just found out yesterday that, for 3 years, I was being charged for a security feature that Michael had neither offered me nor installed. So, in addition to highly recommending CPI Security Systems, I also highly recommend that you request Chuck to do your installation, etc., if available!

Within that year I did everything the company asked of me including personally covering last minute shifts, picking up shifts when the company needed me to and waking up at six in the morning on my off days to train new employees. I never called out and always showed up. The thanks I got was a write up anytime I made a mistake, my hours being cut and a ridiculous requirement of buying a laptop for a $17 an hour job. Because this company is fairly new and is actively trying to build clientele, they will throw their employees under the bus at the sight of any inconvenience. This company DOES NOT care about their employees. If you make a mistake they will quietly take you off the schedule and then ignore you when you try to reach out, I've seen it happen to many people. The worst part is they will bleed you out by slowly taking away your shifts one by one until you cant pay your bills anymore and you're forced to leave. Really terrible stuff they do to their employees. The main manager stephen, is an awkward stab you in the back type of guy who will smile in your face and then talk badly about you in private chats. I cannot tell you how many lies were told to me working here the list would be too long. If you're looking for a job save your time and avoid this place. If you are a business seek any other company possible, these people stand on no values and only want you to sign a contract. Please do not support these people, they don't deserve any more business.
