I called basically every light bulb shop within a 20 mile radius of west LA looking for a specific type of LED bulb. Most shops and suppliers were only interested in hearing exact part numbers and or what size of order I was intending to place. This shop seemed to be the only one where the phone representative had a basic knowledge of lighting and a willingness to communicate on a human level. The gentleman on the phone told me that the LED version of the bulb I was looking for is unlikely to exist, and spent the extra 30 seconds to explain to me why and how this was the case. This whole experience reaffirmed my view that brick and mortar outlets don't stand a chance against online shopping. If they can't spend a minute on the phone helping you find what you're looking for then why bother visiting them? Advanced sets an example for other shops. read more

As a low-voltage service provider, i know good product and service when i see it. The guys behind the counter at ALS are the equivalent to the Apple Techs at the Genius Bar. Very nice and knowledgeable crew. They are not the type of people who just want to sell you something and send you on your way. I don't go to any other stores for l.e.d lighting, their prices are lower than most places and they beat most of amazons prices too. After getting quotes of $300+ for a custom edge lit sign, I decided to see if I could do the DIY route and randomly saw their shop while driving on San Fernando Road and stopped in. I have now made my awesome edge lit sign and both times I have visited the store all the guys have been extremely friendly and genuinely helpful. The first time I came in, I bought parts and the second time I came in because I wasn't sure how to put the parts together. The guys put it together on the spot for me for no charge. I am happy to do business with these guys anytime. And I ended up making my sign for half the price I was quoted by the sign shops! read more
