After looking into a number of companies, I decided to go with Brilliant Bulbs because they offered the best combination of service, product, and value; also, Alex (the owner/proprietor) was exceptionally pleasant and professional, and that definitely swayed my decision-making process. I was impressed that Alex could offer his programmable "smart" lights for the same price that other companies were charging to install plain-old, regular holiday lights. It was kind of a no-brainer. I think it's worth noting (at least I was impressed!) that Alex personally does the installation himself. He was meticulous in his work, and he obviously seems to enjoy *bringing joy* to others in this way - he's *that* nice. He even threw in a Dodger Blue sequence so we could celebrate the World Series victory (GO DODGERS!). Alex was super responsive and came out the day after installation when a bulb stopped working (not his fault: my gardener accidentally whacked it).  It's hard to capture how pretty the results are in iPhone pictures, but I certainly have never seen anything like these lights before, and our neighbors keep asking where we got our "light show." :) I'll update my report after the season when Alex comes to take down the lights. Alex and Brilliant Bulbs did a brilliant job at installing holiday lights for my 97 year old grandmother.   We decided to hire someone for the job this year and really like the idea of not having to worry about maintenance or troubleshooting.  Alex said they would be there within 1 business day to repair if something went wrong.  He was great with communication and made sure everything was automated and simplified. Originally I reached out for a quote via Yelp for last minute lights installation in our backyard. Alex was very responsive and got back to me quickly which I really appreciated. He called me and we spoke about what I was looking for, and said he would be able to get the job done and come out a few days later. He had me text him photos of our house and backyard and said he used Google Earth to get a scope of the house layout which I thought was cool. Unfortunately I never heard back from him after that. I had high hopes after reading all the positive reviews and after our phone call but was left completely ghosted. Again this was last minute ( 1 week before event) but I tried to reach out to him again via text and Yelp, and he even read my messages but zero response. I would have appreciated him telling me he was booked or unavailable rather than no response at all. Really felt lousy to be treated that way. Luckily I was able to find someone else to come out since this was for my birthday party. Update: Alex called me after my original review and apologized for the way everything was handled which I really appreciated. Life happens and things can't always go as planned so I really value the effort he took to personally contact me to explain the situation. I can tell he takes his business very seriously, especially customer service! For the same price I had been paying in the past for regular white lights, Alex was able to offer a system that was programmable to any color (including the regular white) and could synch to music.
