Island Tire got us in first thing, found a 5-inch nail, removed and inspected the tire, and repaired it properly from the inside. One of the worst customer experiences I've ever had, which is odd because I've shopped here in the past and they are typically helpful. This, and because I wasn't about to buy seriously overpriced parts "and" walk them back to my car (they don't deliver or so I was told and batteries are really heavy); so I just picked up jumper cables and solved my problem somewhere else. This small tire and repair shop is a little off the main drag in Big Pine Key. On Saturday, January…read more24th, 2015, I was in desperate need of some help. My dad had driven our RV from Missouri to the Keys and had run into a low pressure situation. I stopped at the Mobil station near where we were staying on Summerland Key...no luck. The connector didn't fit. I then went to the nearest marine shop. No luck. The dumbo behind the counter said they didn't even have an air pump...even though there was one right behind his chair. He suggested I go on down the road to NAPA auto parts. I did just that. After listening to the two idgits behind the counter cuss at each other for 10 minutes and tell me that they couldn't help me, I just decided to look up a place on my own. I found Monroe Tire on Yelp, but it didn't have any reviews. I decided to go ahead and give it a try. It took me a bit to find it, and when I pulled up, I thought I again wasn't going to get any help. The first guy I talked to clearly didn't want to be there. He simply said that they weren't open and then got up and walked off. The owner then came outside, and I talked to him a bit. I know he was extremely busy and didn't really want to help me, but you wouldn't be able to tell it by talking to him. Keep in mind that I am in a huge RV, and adding air to the tires is no simple task. He really and truly didn't have the time to help me. I could see that he was backlogged, and that he was working the weekend to catch up. Regardless, I was in a pickle and didn't want to make the 23 hour drive home with low tires. After a minute of talking, he agreed to help. Even though he had a shop geared for regular maintenance, he brought out everything in his arsenal to help get the huge rear wheel caps off so we could get to the valves to check the pressure on the tires. Rather than go through the rest of the story, let me say this: he stopped what he was doing, helped me out of a very tough situation, laughed and joked with me the whole time and ended up only charging me $10. If you need help with any kind of auto service and don't give Monroe Tire a chance, you're missing out.
