I had a slow leak on one of my car tire while staying in Marathon, Florida. Called Island Tire and they said bring it right in which was a surprise, I expected to have to set up an appointment. When I got there I saw 4-5 guys who looked really busy. One fellow came up and asked my problem and said give us 20 minutes and we'll get you fixed up. I thought 'sure' .. never been to a car repair shop when I didn't have to sit around 2 hours or more to get service. 20 minutes later they had me bring my car around, and 20 minutes later I was on the road! First thing DO NOT MISS YOUR APPOINTMENT. Which I did by 15 minutes. Might not seem like much. But these people run a tight shop. With that being said, I can not thank them enough for working me in and getting new safe tires installed for me. Since they were closing for two weeks' vacation, I would have had to risk it on baddies until they returned. Might seem crazy, but it's not easy getting specialty tires down here in Marathon. I went to Island Tire early in in my vacation thinking I would drop off the bad tire to be repaired. However, they were able to be Johnny on the spot and repaired it while there. I don't give 5 stars, but this place earns it. Had an issue with one of the tires on the vehicle I tow behind my motor home. Stopped in with no appointment. Was told they would be with me shortly. Within a couple of minutes, I was being taken care of. Gave me great advice without trying to upsell me. Switched out my spare with my problem tire and charged me half of what I thought it should be. We sustained a flat tire on our 20 inch radials on our Chevy Suburban from a puncture from a crab claw! We put the 17 inch spare on after the flat and live in Marathon. I needed new tire for my Nissan Pathfinder. I met with Nicole and her husband Ryan. I was looking for Toyo tires, as the had given me 70,000 plus miles. Nicole said she could get them for me, but she showed me an equivalent General tire, which was less expensive and provided the same mileage ratings. Ryan installed them when they came in. They provided me an excellent price and fast friendly service. Me and my husband found a nail on our tire right before leaving our resort on own way back home. We didn't feel save driving 3 hours like that and asked the resort staff if they recommended a tire shop and they sent us to Island Tire. I went to Island Tire to have 2 boat trailer tires checked for leaks. I removed the tires from the trailer so I carried in the tires. The owner greeted me cheerfully.He put air in the tires and put them in a tub to check for leaks. He spent maybe 1-2 minutes on each tire. They were both OK. I thanked him and put tires back in my car. After about a minute later he cheerfully walks up to me and stated "I can't believe you did not give me a tip" and in the future to "Take my business elsewhere". I was stunned and replied that I did not even think of that. So much for Holiday Cheer. His attitude changed after he realized that he did not have a sale or repair. The shop is also a disaster area for a place that charges $99 an hour for labor. I even waited there for him to return from his 1 hr lunch break. BEWARE. Go elsewhere. Mr. Muffler is right up the block and also sells tires. They even offered free flat tire repairs in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. My bad for not going there. read more
