This small tire and repair shop is a little off the main drag in Big Pine Key. On Saturday, January…read more24th, 2015, I was in desperate need of some help. My dad had driven our RV from Missouri to the Keys and had run into a low pressure situation. I stopped at the Mobil station near where we were staying on Summerland Key...no luck. The connector didn't fit. I then went to the nearest marine shop. No luck. The dumbo behind the counter said they didn't even have an air pump...even though there was one right behind his chair. He suggested I go on down the road to NAPA auto parts. I did just that. After listening to the two idgits behind the counter cuss at each other for 10 minutes and tell me that they couldn't help me, I just decided to look up a place on my own. I found Monroe Tire on Yelp, but it didn't have any reviews. I decided to go ahead and give it a try. It took me a bit to find it, and when I pulled up, I thought I again wasn't going to get any help. The first guy I talked to clearly didn't want to be there. He simply said that they weren't open and then got up and walked off. The owner then came outside, and I talked to him a bit. I know he was extremely busy and didn't really want to help me, but you wouldn't be able to tell it by talking to him. Keep in mind that I am in a huge RV, and adding air to the tires is no simple task. He really and truly didn't have the time to help me. I could see that he was backlogged, and that he was working the weekend to catch up. Regardless, I was in a pickle and didn't want to make the 23 hour drive home with low tires. After a minute of talking, he agreed to help. Even though he had a shop geared for regular maintenance, he brought out everything in his arsenal to help get the huge rear wheel caps off so we could get to the valves to check the pressure on the tires. Rather than go through the rest of the story, let me say this: he stopped what he was doing, helped me out of a very tough situation, laughed and joked with me the whole time and ended up only charging me $10. If you need help with any kind of auto service and don't give Monroe Tire a chance, you're missing out.

Beyond Horrific Experience…read more. I first contacted My Keys Mobile Equipment & Trucking Repair on Thursday, the 3rd of December. We made an appointment for our motorcoach to have an annual service done which was to include an oil change, transmission fluid change, new fuel filters, oil filters, air filters, lube of the chassis and an overall maintenance service. I was somewhat encouraged after talking to Stephanie on the telephone and based on the limited but positive online reviews, we figured that we would get good service. That same day, minutes after talking to them, I texted them a confirmation as well as our VIN number that they would need to order parts. That was done at 09:56am on the 3rd. The message was read moments later by here as I get a read confirmation. I followed up with them on Monday the 6th at 11:23am. She responded at 5:18pm asking what the appointment was for again. Umm.. you don't remember what work you are doing??? Concern #1. After explaining what maintenance we wanted done, she indicated that she needed the VIN. I reminded her that it had been sent on the 3rd. Concern #2. I questioned parts and she indicated that "NAPA is stocked up" and "no worries". We had been very specific that we do not use low-end Napa parts on our coach. We only use Cummings Approved parts and fluids. Some mechanics say that it's basically the same stuff, however we are more comfortable paying more for approved parts. My girlfriend and I own local businesses, for us to take time off means that our offices are closed and that we are not making any money. We specifically took the morning of Tuesday the 7th off and expected the tech at 8am as scheduled and confirmed by them. We received a text at 8am that she needed to talk to us. It seems that Napa was not as stocked as she thought and they were unable to get parts they needed for the job and rescheduled for Friday the 11th. So, we just lost a morning where our businesses were closed because they did not properly plan and now have to wait three days and take more time off from work. She suggested that we just leave her the keys to our coach and we didn't need to be there. Yea, like that is going to happen. On the 10th, she confirmed that they had everything they needed and that they were good to go. That was positive. If only it were true and not another lie. Friday morning the 10th we were up and waiting at 8am. No tech. At 08:30am, I texted and asked when the tech would arrive. I was told 9am. Ok, disappointing, but we can wait. At 09:30am, we called. Turns out he was still getting parts. More bothersome was that during that telephone call, she indicated that yesterday was her husbands birthday and they partied late and she let him sleep in. So, let me get this straight... You and your husband tied one on, are hungover, lied about having parts and then want to come work on my $350,000 motor home? Really? After all of the problems we had ZERO confidence in their ability. The man may actually be a good mechanic, but the lack of professionalism and all of the problems just getting to an appointment kills any chance they would have of impressing us or any customer. We texted them to cancel the appointment. Stephanie instantly texted me that she was ok to cancel and but he was "around the corner" anyway. Then tells me to have a blessed day..... As I drove through Big Pine Key miles from our home, his truck was sitting at Napa. So, yet another lie. There are VERY limited options to work on a large motorhome in the Florida Keys. Most diesel mechanics are focused on marine engines and very few have motorhome / large truck experience. You can add these folks to the list of who to avoid. Again, he may be a good mechanic, but the back office operation totally kills any chance of conducting business professionally. This won't be tolerated for long in the RV community. I've notified all local RV parks of my experience and I hope others that have expensive coaches heed the warning and avoid this company. They are exactly why companies in the keys have bad reputations.
