I asked lady help on an o2 sensor, I told her according to the scanner( I bought code scanner from store)it was sensor B1 S2 she said She didn't have it and didn't know if it was top or lower sensor then I asked her for nearest store so I can go buy it and she said she didn't know because she lives 45 minutes away. I went to competition I told them I needed sensor B1 S2 and they told me right away exactly which sensor I needed it, where it was located however they didn't have it either but employee told me to buy it there and go pick it up at nearest location that did have it and he told me the location of the nearest location to pick it up. this type of customer service makes the store loose money. On 4-4-24 I went in to get a key fob battery and any guidance on how to install the battery. CHRIS was overtly RUDE and DISMISSIVE!! He acted as if he owned the store and not as a hired customer service agent for Advance Auto! James on the other hand took the time to provide guidance on how to find instruction on how to install the battery since their company policy prohibits employees from working on key fobs. I had to return on 4-5-24 because the plastic battery encasing was so hard to unwrap, James politely assisted me in opening the battery, I'm grateful that CHRIS wasn't there! Very unpleasant interaction with Byron, who claimed to be the manager. This young man is not ready for a management position. He was condescending and very rude- not just to me, but also to his coworker who was actually responding to the situation better and more like a manager than he was. Be vary wary of this particular location and the management. I ordered an alternator online for direct pickup in the store as Advanced was having an online sale of 20% off orders. This was ordered online and available for pickup directly in the store-- no shipping from anywhere else. Fast forward a few weeks and my husband goes to install the part that had been sitting in it's box in our entry way for two or so weeks. The refurbished part was bent and could not be installed correctly in the car. My husband took it back to the same store we bought online from and picked up from and were told that online orders could not be exchanged even though they were bought and picked up from on the store since they were done online. I only learned this after my husband got home when he said the staff told him that he had to return the alternator and purchase the same one--- mind you, without the 20% off we received online!!! So, we were out $25.80 because the store apparently has no capacity to EXCHANGE the same product that was purchased online (from the store mind you) and brought back to the same store---meanwhile, Kohl's JcPenney's and many other stores offer the same option of buying online and pickup/returning to stores. After my husband got home and I saw the receipt and he explained the situation I called the toll free Advance Customer Service number and explained the situation. They said that no, indeed the local store could exchange the product. So, I called back and spoke with the manager on duty (did not get his name) on July 9th at 5:30 pm and explained what the main CS rep had told me that indeed they could have exchanged the product purchased online and picked up in store. He insisted that they did not know what they were talking about and that online purchases could not be processed as exchanges in stores. I responded that the customer is then screwed with a price difference from purchasing online and picking up in the store and gosh forbid something is wrong with it-- we can't exchange it-- of which he had no response. I then asked for the District Manager's number and it took him awhile to locate this. After hanging up with him I immediately called the main Advance Customer Service number back, worked my way up through the various customer service representatives and when I made it to the upper management, after sharing the entire situation they did indeed confirm that the manager at the store could have exchanged the alternator and if he had simply picked up the phone and called the corporate line they would have walked him through the certain buttons he had to push to provide the discount (although that was not even suggested by the associate on duty at the time helping my husband and was disregarded as an option when I spoke with the Manager on July 9 suggesting that because the local store couldn't exchange online purchases in store, the customer is ultimately out of luck--- to which he had no response). Ultimately, corporate has agreed to issue us a check for the difference of $25.80. The corporate associate was to have provided my number to the district manager of this area and I confirmed that this had happened in a follow up phone call on 7/26 but they have yet even bothered to return my call. Overall, be VERY wary about placing an online order to pickup locally in this store and gosh forbid should something be wrong with the item that you try to exchange at the store--- it is likely to not happen given the ignorance of the manager and staff and the lack of response from the district manager. read more
