Sure, they're a bit (a lot) more expensive than going to Walgreens for your photo development. But Walgreens is just going to spit your photos out on the cheapest paper possible, without a person even looking it over to make sure that it looks its best. Instead, River City Silver will have your photos printed in the highest definition possible, will tweak the settings to make sure it looks good, and even puts a border around the photos, suitable for framing. I wouldn't trust anyone else with prized photos. They also do digitization of old photos and scrapbooks and such.

However, they now 'offer' a 'service' to adjust color, etc., for a smooth $ 20-something. Ever since this service came on board as an 'option', my normal, no-fuss orders have been terrible. The colors are lousy. I think they are attempting to force everyone to add the money to their orders so they don't turn out badly. Not happy.

Ordering is easy, turn around time is fabulous, packaging is wonderful. However, their color…read morematching has gotten much worse since I started working with them. When a customer holds the print up to the original painting, it's ridiculously noticeable. The print is either lighter or darker than the original. Color matching is extremely important for artists. I've had to send pictures that I creased or tore up the prints in order to get a "credit." Used the credit to try again. The color matching was still horrible. This time I specified that I wanted a refund as opposed to a credit since I will not be using them anymore. Now they expect me to pay shipping and make a special trip to the post office? For their inadequate work? For them to just destroy the prints I'm sending back anyway? What's the point? Now I'm embarrassed that I had recommended them to so many other artists. Time to find a new printing company that actually cares about the customer and the quality of their work. Definitely would NOT recommend using them for professional reproductions.

However, their website is terrible and their customer service is awful. I paid a lot for 3 huge canvases with the extra color correction. Two are perfect. The third- I like to do my own borders. It's very easy to last second knock it off center in illustrator. Since there's no way to zoom into their tiny mockup of your work without complete pixelation it's hard to see how your work is going to look. You'd think the person doing the color correction would have noticed it's not centered. Nope! There's no human to talk to- you are at the mercy of Angela who takes forever and a day to return an email. I was willing to take responsibility and needed to reprint. I had my canvases created two days before a 20% canvas sale, so I asked if I reprinted and did another huge one could I have the discount. That's fair, right? Angela couldn't even read the email correctly! Two days later (I'm on a time crunch) I get the answer "no refunds". I didn't ask for one! Still waiting on return email. For these prices there needs to be a human on a phone who can deal with artists' issues and a much better website. Moving on to another printer who has a human I can call and a much more professional website.
