Horrible customer service, my "window" for a technician was 9-5! That's a window? If I ran my service business like this I would definitely be out of business. Update-They then comment that I could get a call first, I live 90 minutes away, so potentially, I would have to leave my house at 7:30 and sit there till 4pm. Also, I didn't post the entire experience because I am so embarrassed by my stupidity. They completely scammed me. But it's my fault for trusting and not reading the contract before signing. I got snookered into signing a contract that I didn't read. He NEVER ONCE mentioned that it was a 3-year contract. I know it's my bad and I'm paying over 1500.00 to cancel it and get out of it, but I would pay even more to NOT do business w/them ever again. They have horrible customer service! After spending a couple hours on the phone trying to fix an issue, they set up an appointment, which we thought was for a repair tech. It was not, it was with another phone call! We need someone to come out and fix the problem! The tech my husband got was very hard to understand and never did fix the problem. ADT Customer Alert: My Experience After 7+ Years I was a loyal ADT customer for over 7 years. I completed my initial 3-year contract, and based on the salesman's promise--"Once your contract ends, you're month-to-month, and can cancel anytime without penalty"--I stayed on for 4 more years. On June 23, 2025, I called to cancel service seven days before the next billing cycle, expecting no further charges. The agent was polite but followed a rigid, scripted process, offering three back-to-back "loyalty gifts" despite my repeated NOs. It wasn't customer service--it was sales wrapped in flattery. What frustrated me most? None of these "amazing offers" were ever presented during my years of loyalty--only once I tried to leave. I would've considered them earlier. At this point, they felt disrespectful and manipulative. And despite canceling in time, I received a prorated invoice for $62.54 on July 8, 2025. When I called to dispute it, the support rep ignored my explanation, citing the original contract and a supposed 30-day cancellation notice--despite me being on a month-to-month plan. When I requested a supervisor, I was mocked: "Do you hear yourself? How ridiculous you sound." Eventually, I was passed to someone else who stonewalled the same way. My takeaway: ADT's outdated customer retention tactics--robotic scripts, surprise charges, refusal to listen--are driving loyal customers away, not keeping them. Install was rushed & misleading; customer service overall unfriendly, contradictory information & disrespectful. I'd call customer service, on hold for at least a hour, transferred numerous times having to repeat my information & the reason for my call each time. No common sense & no continuity in service. ADT only cared about selling additional services & equipment my husband & I didn't need & eager to blame me, the customer, for any consumer dissatisfaction & error. We only wanted a security camera on our garage & never got what we really wanted so we threw what we did get in the trash. Try to cancel my service on 25th of April 2025 and I was told that I had to pay a $750 cancellation fee. The agent told me I wouldn't have to pay any more money. I just had to pay another $112 to just get out of the contract. ADT doesn't care in my mind, They said the Agent should have told me about the 30 day cancellation and the additional charges, which he didn't. When I had finally paid off the contract and my equipment, I was informed that I could no longer access MY cameras that I had paid for in full!! I had to fight to get a supervisor on the phone. the supervisor refused to do the right thing and could care less that I was cancelling my account or that we are military. This review is not necessarily for the ADT Tampa office. It is for the ADT Corporate Office.... ADT is a bunch of lying, thieves!!! I am a permanently disabled veteran, I am on an extremely fixed income. I called in July to initially cancel my services because I was going to be moving in with my mother-in-law, whom I was also paying for. The Account Services tech talked me into keeping my account and transferring it to my mother-in-law's address. Her account would be cancelled and I wouldn't have to pay anything extra, I could continue with, and finish out my current contract. I have been on the phone with them now 7 or 8 times, each about both of my accounts! They stole $612 from my bank account m, calling it a cancellation charge, was told on Aug 28 that it would take up to 10 business days to have my money refunded back to my bank account, today, Sep. 13 I received a notice stating that I have a credit on my ADT account for the amount that they stole, $612. I would not have called until Sep 17, (10 business days after my Aug 28 phone call), had it not been for this ADT statement that I received in the mail today. So I called them up and was told that it will now take, starting from today, another 10 - 15 business days before I can get the $612 that ADT STOLE from me! On top of this my mother-in-law's account, (also that I pay for) was being charged $1115, when I inquired about it the sup with whom I was speaking with said that the $1115 charges would be removed from this account with 72 hours. I informed him that the person I spoke with on Aug 28 said that on Sep 4 those charges would be removed. The bill was dated Sep 6 and I received it today Sep 13th. ADT IS NOTHING MORE THAN A LYING, CHEATING, THIEVING COMPANY!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!! THEY DO NOT EVEN MONITOR YOU!!! I HAD NUMEROUS LOCAL POWER OR INTERNET OUTAGES OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS AND THEY DID NOT EVEN CALL TO SEE IF EVERYTHING WAS ALRIGHT!!! Now I can understand that they would not call you if there was a power outage due to a natural disaster, such as a hurricane, (which we had 3 over the past 2 years), but to not call and see if everything was okay for a local power/internet outage, is unacceptable!!! They stick you with a 3 year contract. They want to charge you for a service call when their devices stop working. Very hard to cancel service once the contract period is up. I called more than 30 days in advance of the end of my contract, but they kept taking money from my account. When I called them, they claimed to have no record of my cancelation request. Customer service in Boca Raton office sub par I have had ADT for many years. Had a few issues, but this year they increased. I had a technician scheduled, didn't show up because he was never scheduled, as I later found out. I asked for the technician Brandon, who did great work and a provides great customer service, again another scheduled time for him...same thing occurred. Spoke to a manager, Marcus in Boca Raton, who definitely requires more customer service training. Spoke over me and was rude. After this occurred more than once (conversations with Marcus), my cost per month for service was increased. Retaliation? I have read many reviews on other review sites, mainly about the lack of customer service from the phone numbers to call online. Marcus won't share who is his supervisor!? Poor communication with company, my 96 year old mother is in Hospice care, sold her house and want to charge us over $700 to cancel contract when I provided proof of Hospice care. No-one answers the phone, my representative does not even answer his phone number and was supposed to help me. They make it impossible (short of canceling your form of payment which you have on file with them) to cancel your service with them. The cameras and product seem like they can make one who owns the products feel secure at all times especially when away from home. However, my experience with the technician with regards to installation and billing have been an absolute nightmare. My technician Manny seems to be messing up a lot of projects as he would have to come back to my home for a third time to fix the same wiring issue on my doorbell camera that should not have ever been an issue to begin with. He also constantly pesters me with texts, phone calls and even bothers my family if I'm not able to respond right away. They finally got it working the other day but it took the technician over an hour! I'm having windows replaced and I have to remove the sensors myself. I'm 68! ADT's rates have gone WAY up, while simultaneously reducing their service levels. We recently tried to get a new battery for our panel and were told they don't install those any more, but we could get one free (through our maintenance agreement) and install it ourselves. The battery arrived and they added a charge for almost $40 to our account without our permission. We called to ask what the charge was for; that's how we found out they had charged us for the battery. They did reverse the charge after we complained. However, I wanted to reduce my service, to reduce my monthly fee, but were told you can't do that except by calling their Account Management phone number. I have called FIVE times and I have been hold for over TWO HOURS during that time and can never speak with anyone. I have requested a call back twice. The first time they did call me back, but put me back in the queue and I waited over AN HOUR - no one ever answered. So I requested a callback again; the message said I would not lose my place in the queue. I never got a call back! I am now on hold again (for the 5th time - 36 minutes and counting!)! I was going to keep ADT with reduced services and fees. Now I want to cancel my service due to these shoddy business practices... if I can ever reach a representative to do so! Contracted with ADT and install was September 16. We left next day for out of the country for 7 nights. Towards end of trip, I checked my email. Seems for a number of days the system was in "practice status". So for days, our system was not armed to protect our home. When we returned home, the system had numerous false alarms. Woke us more than once during the night with alarm blaring. No attempt to break in. While out socially for evenings and arming the system, calls-texts-emails with alarm alerts that were false. But ADT never called the police. Empty promises by ADT could not solve the issue. This is a terrible experience since no one will call back to follow through with correcting the problem. I request the service be closed via email from their rep who contacted me because they monitor house sales for customers. I am not laying a bi for a service i did not use for 3 months. I recently discovered that a window was not covered by our ADT security installation. The window was about two feet square, a size which most people could use to gain access to the house. When my wife called ADT to have a sensor added so that it could be included in the installation, the rep referred to our contract as if there would be something in there about leaving a window unguarded. Eventually, my wife got to talk to a manager who realized that we were past our initial 3 year monitoring contract time. To have someone secure the window, my wife was told she needed to sign a contract for a monitoring extension of 5 years. In good faith, my wife signed the contract and the manager told her a tech would come out to secure it. On the scheduled day, we get a call from a "virtual tech" to help us secure the window by phone. We explained that we did not have resources to do that. He mentioned that the scheduler made a mistake, and someone would call us back later. No one called. After a few days, I called and talked to a rep. It was a recorded call, so I started with "ADT's customer service sucks." I then explained the issue and was assured it would be fixed. When asked if there was anything else, I asked for 4 glass breaking sensors. The rep put $100 on my credit card for those. When the tech called for this visit, he told me I needed to sign another contract concerning a $500+ charge for the glass breaking sensors. I told him I wasn't going to sign it, that he could just come on and fix the window. He replied that he couldn't fix the window if I didn't sign the contract. After he said that, I told him I was fed up with ATD's contracts. I told him I couldn't trust a company with so many bungling people. Hi, ADT increased monthly charges over 4% last year and over 6% (during a pandemic) this year without replacing any equipment or adding any services. We installed our system in 2016. The equipment isn't durable: the cover on the master panel will no longer stay closed. Current cost of monthly charges is over $72.50 a month for a 2400 square foot home in a good suburban location. You can't cancel your account online, only via phone, and then you can't get anyone on the phone (over 10 minutes on hold at the moment). I have decided that it simply isn't worth it! read more

I have my home secured with ADT, and I also bought into their ATV VISION PLAN to monitor the outside of my home. I have had nothing but problems with the ATV vision plan. I should be able to see the complete perimeter of my home but the cameras keep going out. Even though, I have a warranty on this "new" system they installed, the cameras continue to malfunction. We have had no storms in my area so it is odd that they continue to have to be replaced. However, you have to pay ADT $69.00 to come out and replace the bulbs. I talked with Greg, who is the support admin for ATV software. According to him there is nothing wrong on their end and can not explain why my cameras keep going out. I refuse to continue to pay them to replace the cameras that are only a year old. So right now I do not have a full perimeter of my home. Their customer service personnel are rude, they put you on hold continuously - sometimes 45 minutes to an hour. The ADT people do not know how to help or assist you with the ATV Vision system so you are on hold with ATV trying to figure out why the system does not work. The system is faulty and problematic. They can have the ATV vision box back, I am ready to work with a reputable company. I am almost over my ADT contract for my home, I will not renew with ADT for nothing ever again. I will pay for a perimeter system that continues to break. I will not keep giving them money to come out here to replace the bulbs. It is obviously something wrong with the wiring of the bulbs that ADT installed. When they give me a working system then I will pay them. I have tried to get a technician to my home for over 3 months. Each time, I was told that I could fix it myself. The alarm would go on and off without the system being on. Over the last 2 days the alarm would not stop. They stated that they would not send a technician over because I should be able to do it by putting in the 4 digit number. They're trying to extort a disabled combat veteran and my non-profit animal rescue for calling out their scam and filing a complaint against them. Salesman Jodennis lied to me for 30 min to get me to agree to an install. Took me 2 weeks to find out I didn't have fire monitoring like I was promised among a plethora of other promises that were never kept. His number didn't work so I called the office and asked them why I didn't have fire monitoring. I was promised a phone call in 24 hrs from the manager Raymond. I called back a week later to cancel my service when my call and concern was never addressed in that week. I'd still be waiting for them to call back if I hadn't called them. I asked Raymond if he allows his employees to lie to customers and he had no response. I filed a complaint with ADT corporate and they canceled my service and I thought it was over. 2 weeks later Raymond starts emailing me saying I owe him $1300 to cancel my contract and I have 30 days to pay or he'll send it to collections. After spending another hour on the phone with ADT corporate I continued to get the same run around and no one would take responsibility or accountability for the salesmans lies. I filed a complaint with the BBB and continued to get the same disrespect and run around from whoever responds to their complaints. I have emailed the FL Attorney General and will continue to expose them for the scumbags they are. They may not care if my animals and I die in a house fire but I certainly do. In response to the owner: I called on May 18th to address the fire monitoring issue and was told the salesman was the only person who could help me and to wait for his call, which they promised me they would contact him and he would contact me in 24hrs. I called to cancel on May 25th because I had still not received a call about my concern and was never offered the possibility of adding fire monitoring in the entire 25 min long phone call. ADT works with a wide variety of third party contractors, and when you have a problem, ADT and the contracting partners just point fingers at each other. Their customer service is awful! They sold me some over-priced cameras that worked for about three months, after which, they started to malfunction. According to the service tech they had a software update that had a glitch in it. I tried for months to get the issue resolved, and finally just took the cameras down and installed my own system. Initially, the ADT account rep said they would provide me with a refund, and after months of calls from their billing department, they said the problem was with Safe Street. ADT security is one huge con. Look for alternative companies. They are going to always be more expense most of their competitors. They will ask you sign contracts (their competitors won't). Your salesman is a used car salesman that was booted from that industry so be very cautious on what you are told vs what is in your contract. read more

I called adt over 2 weeks ago for a reevaluation of our security because I wanted to add two additional cameras and I never heard back. I called them today and the excuse was they are trying to find someone in my area. They did not have an issue when we became a new customer, they were there immediately. After you have the service in place, you are no longer important and service is non exciting. Do yourself a favor and contact a different security service co. The minute my contract expires, I am changing service providers. Garbage service, they even left my front window w/o protection with the original installation and they took advantage of my elderly ill husband while I was at work.
