I am BEYOND FURIOUS WITH THESE INEPT PEOPLE!! To date. Two round trips from 41129 to 23603 to have a system made functional in our new home. close to 2000 miles. Several hundred dollars in fuel. Two time windows for install on two separate Saturdays. Neither one met. The first time we were assured the tech would be there 20 minutes after their window was past. He didnt make it so we cancelled. The second time someone was actually sent, AFTER the hours we were given. Guy knew NOTHING about the service order we had requested, and immediately started trying to sell my wife new equipment. Supervisor was called and told my wife something to the effect of "he could handle it but it would take 3 hours." AT this point it was a 15 hour day for her so she cancelled the whole thing. At this point we have invested 26 hours of driving and roughly $600 in fuel for this bullshit. Now here are MY comments! I am a retired combat Veteran. 22 years active duty Army. We are moving because our daughter was diagnosed with an inoperable, lemon sized, wild-type glioblastoma in her head. Her odds are not good. I cannot AFFORD to be treated like this company has treated me. I have neither the time nor the resources that I can CONTINUE to waste on a company as inept as this one. If they cannot manage a simple schedule, HOW CAN WE RELY ON THEM TO KEEP OUR FAMILY SAFE?? This has been one of the worst experiences I've had with a business. I never write reviews but this pissed me off so bad that I felt the need to post this. During my initial quote, they gave me a great deal I couldn't turn down: free installation, monthly discount because of my USAA membership, Free Google nest front door camera because of my Costco membership, as well as a $100 visa gift card. I agreed to have them as a security provider. When the technician came, I was charged the entirety of the Google camera, never received the gift card, and have spoken to over 15 agents regarding this issue to no avail. I have probably spent over 10 hours on the phone with these idiots and yet they never want to refund the cost of my camera even tho my original quote has it listed for free! Before signing on with this nightmare company I tried to check Google reviews. Turns out you won't find any because ADT has partnered with Google and is using their Nest products. A month ago I called ADT for a price quote. I told the rep how many cameras I needed and how many doors and windows I had. She quoted me a great price. I scheduled an appointment. A couple of days later I received emails and texts confirming my installation appointment but NOT on the day or time I agreed to. After numerous calls and a promise to have someone from a local office call me to find out why they did not keep the original day and time- which never came - I had to schedule a different time and day. Three weeks ago the system was installed. The installation tech showed up too early (I told them nobody lives on the property I am securing) and he lets me know the price will be almost double from the price quoted (that made me agree to the service) because of how many windows I have. So I go with the new price anyway. He installs the doorbell camera, four exterior cameras, door and window sensors. I tell him the doorbell doesn't ring. He said he would fix it before he left. It was in working order prior to installing the new one. He shows me how the cameras are labeled, explains the system and tells me he doesn't have any signs but will bring them back and put them up and even gives me his ADT cell phone number to call if I need anything. Wow! This accessibility to service prompts me to leave a good review on the follow up survey they immediately send me. A few days go by and I still have no signs and I realize my doorbell doesn't ring. I also see none of the cameras pick up MY driveway, just my neighbors driveway. I text him and ask when he will be bringing my signs and let him know the doorbell doesn't ring. A couple of days later he replies and tells me he's been really busy and forgot about fixing the doorbell but he would drop off the signs. A few more days pass, still no signs. I text, call and he is unresponsive. I call to order signs. I get someone in India who says she will mail them. I tell her since I don't live there all mail will be forwarded to a PO Box where they probably won't be accepted, so she needs to send them to where I am living. She said she couldn't. I ask will they be sent by USPS or perhaps UPS, FEDEX? She doesn't know. So, I tell her I guess I have no choice but to see if they show up. They never did. I call the service tech again and leave a message explaining my frustration but still he does not respond. I finally call to have someone come out and properly position the camera so it will monitor MY driveway and not the neighbor and fix the doorbell. I ask for four signs because it is a large property and sits on four acres. The day before the installation tech arrives I get a notice my doorbell battery is dead and no longer works. I wait three hours for the tech to show up. He tells me there is no power to my doorbell (but it worked before the initial installation) and that I "probably" need to get a new transformer. He tells me if that doesn't fix the problem it might just be a bad doorbell. Hmmm. Then he tells me his boss, Josh Bennett, out of ADT's Norfolk, VA office, said I have to pay for him to properly position/move the camera because I "already signed a contract"! At that point I lost it. I had already literally lost DAYS dealing with all the problems I have with ADTs unkept promises and now again wasted a day sitting around waiting for a repair tech for my NEW system only to be told ADT wants to charge me for a system that has not even been in use for 30 days, the main camera is monitoring my neighbors yard and the doorbell has never properly functioned! I am co-owner of another home in a different area secured by ADT. I have filed a complaint with the BBB. If ADT does not remedy this problem I will be switching providers for both properties and have my sister and daughter, both ADT subscribers, switch their properties as well. If ADT wants to sue me they can, and I will clap back with breach of contract counter suit. Even though they give you pages and pages of contractual information to look at on the installation tech's phone while he stands there - knowing you won't be able to read it all - and electronically sign it - without providing you with a printed copy so you could read it and exercise your VA 3-Day Right To Cancel, I'm willing to bet there are enough people out there who have been duped and burned by ADT to start a class action lawsuit. I believe there is already a lawsuit against ADT ( I just discovered) over employees who have installed systems that were found to be voyeurs of the cameras installed by ADT. I been with this company about 18years!!!! I have problems with my sensor the first time they charged me $100.00. I added another sensor they charged me $50.00 and up my bill $2.00 more dollars of month. Now back having the same problem with the sensor again,now they want to charge me again if they send somebody out again!!! read more

I have had ADT with no troubles for almost 4 years in 2 different homes.recently I got lo battery reading. Paid and hooked up new battery. Did pay for a service charge just to check system. It was fine, 3 weeks later lo battery. Worker couldn't diagnose problem. Came back again with new battery and had to change panel. So I wS charged for second battery. But also for visit and labor!! I didn't break the panel! So I shouldn't have to pay for the repair. Was told what I deal I got because they didn't charge me for the new panel!! **I do however praise the tech, Samuel who did both calls, explained the repair etc. read more

Only used because it was installed in the house we bought. Worst experience ever. Overpriced. Rude customer service when cancelling. The rep was trying to sell me another product for a "shorter term". (she told me 36 months is different from 3 years and insisted I wasn't listening). Also tried to insinuate the "deal" I was rejecting was going to save me money! (I did the math and I didn't.) Just let people cancel without trying to insult their intelligence or count their money for them. 0/5 stars. I'd pay twice what my termination fee is to forget I ever had to deal with them at all. We were told that we had to upgrade our system even though out previous equipment was working perfectly. Also told that we would not occur any cost but it doubled our bill. I looked up the contract from the installation and it looks like the employee drew a straight line for my signature authorizing the charges. Now they are telling me that I signed for it so "there is nothing they can do." One of the reps I spoke to told me that they had had reports of fraud from the sales department for this exact thing!! A scam.. hidden fees and upcharges! We end up finding out how bad of a scam they were within our 3 day window and cancelled and they STILL took out over 2500 over three days after we cancelled. I asked for best system money could buy and pretty sure they installed old equipment and their teck confirmed it. Then they charged me for the visit. My system has never worked and even said I pay for new equipment. No phone calls for help. I have been working g up the ladder with corporate and filing lawsuit. I have filed complaint with BBB and going to news stations to publish my issues because they will not even call me back. So I'm turning g this over to my lawyers if they don't come get the equipment out of my house and refund my money. This is not a robot nor a blogger. This is real. We had a 3 year contract with ADT for our small business. When Covid closed our business, we asked for help with the bill while we navigated the crisis. ADT refused. Now, the end of the contract is here. I called to give notice within 30 days of the end of the contract, as per my contract. The retention department kept me on hold for 45 minutes, tried to guilt me into staying with the company and was a royal pain. I paid my last bill in April and today received an invoice for a contract termination fee, for June, which is ludicrous! No where in my contract, nor during the termination of service phone call does it say there is a termination fee. If I hadnt terminated 30 days before the contract was up, they would have auto renewed me for another year. This company is not a good business to have provide your security. BEWARE!!! read more

They came to my home when I had Cox with cameras. Phil convinced me buy my own cameras online and he would have Chris (the rep) put them in if I went with them. We talked over the phone a couple of weeks until I purchased my cameras. After that, they wouldn't even answer the phone. All I received was a run around! My service address is even wrong on my invoice. Now, I'm stuck with a big cancellation bill that I must pay. They are horrible! Beware...do not do business with them! We were customers from 2002-2019 and we finally left recently after giving them so many chances to make it right with us. More than 3/4 of the times we had an "incident" at our home ADT never asked for our password. Most importantly when we had a couple of scary false alarms they did not ask for our password. The final straw for us was the last false alarm. 3-4am we wake up to our alarm blaring. My husband gets up to check things out. ADT does try to call our home 3 times and each time no one was on the other line. They call my cell phone and it goes straight to voicemail. I call ADT right back and I explain to the ADT rep that my husband has "cleared" the home. She says to me, "I will call the fire department off". What I say? We don't have a fire alarm on our home with ADT. Are you at "??? ????? Lane?" My replay, "No I am not at that home?". What is going on here? She has no idea where I live. Finally she figures out our home address. We call off the police and she hangs up. She never ONCE asked for my password. I called ADT the next day to find out what was happened. They tell me that it is not their policy to ask for someone's password when we disarm the system. I proceed to explain to them, could they please look up my account. Because I was told this policy years ago our account should state you are ALWAYS to ask for our password. She argues with me and says that is not ADT's policy. I argue back with her and explain, if I am in trouble and someone tells me to turn the alarm off I am going to turn the alarm off. That is what I pay ADT for. In my head I have my "safe" password and my "danger" password. I am expecting ADT to save me. Before you go with ADT you need to ask yourself. If you are in real danger, will ADT protect you? If there is someone standing in your home holding you at gun point and you enter your code, will ADT protect you? My answer to that question (because of REPEAT, I mean REPEAT examples) is ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! read more

Horrible customer service. Called and arranged service and install and they showed up so late the first time they couldn't do the install. The second attempt they called me the same day a couple hours before the install (after I had taken time off from work) to say they had "overbooked" and would need to reschedule. Why anyone would choose to do business with this company is beyond me. Look elsewhere if you're considering home security - if they treat you like this before you sign the contract I can only imagine how bad the service and follow-up is once you've signed. I have a whole story below, but if you don't have time for stories, here's the bottom line. ADT calls the cops if your alarm goes off, but that's it. They'll ignore your alarm if it goes off multiple times in an hour. Customer service isn't very helpful (multiple calls over the last year). They will monitor but not help you be safe in your house. Suggestion: Find a service that has a policy of working with the local police if you are looking to feel safe in your house. OR by the equipment that isn't set up to a monitoring system. Alarm will go off, you'll know that something is wrong, and the person will probably run away. Now on to my story... Where should I start? I originally got the service since I was deploying and I didn't have anyone nearby that could check on my house on a daily basis. Initially I was pleased with the service. BUT you don't know the fault of a service until it's tested. After getting home from deployment, I had my dog in the house when I went to work one day. My dog was in her crate, but like most dogs do, she escaped. Her escape set off the alarm at around 1230pm. ADT called my phone and let me know the alarm was going off. I wasn't at home, so ADT said they would call the police. For an hour I waited by the phone. Nothing. When I called ADT they told me they called the police, but didn't know if they had been dispatched or if they made it to the house. The alarm was still going off. I had to leave work in the middle of the day to go home (50 min drive). When I got there, after cautiously searching the outside, the alarm was still going off. When I opened the door my dog was there to great me. Good enough no burglar. But this started me thinking what would have happened if it was a burglar? Did the police ever come out to my house? I got my answer weeks later when I got a bill from the local police department and a notice that my alarm hasn't been registered. Shouldn't that be a law a security company is aware of? When I called to discuss all the above questions the manager had a perfect answer for everything. - We don't have time to call the police back to find out what they found. - We hope they call us if something happened. - If the alarm goes off multiple times in one hour, we ignore it. - The law probably came out after you had your system installed, but we don't know. ADT doesn't make me feel safe in my house, and that's what they are here for. I'm going to let the contract run out and by a system that will scare intruders off with sirens, but the monitoring is a joke. Save the monthly fees for a watch dog. read more

This company completely lied about their accountability and services upon selling their alarm system to my family. Then when i called costumer service and reported the problem with the alarm and explained the lie we were told by their sales rep, we were told to either keep paying for the alarm that didn't work anymore or pay a $900 termination fee. No matter what supervisor i spoke to or how many times i called i was offered the same lose/lose solutions with no helpful alternatives. They do not care about the upkeep of their product or the safety of their customers.I would not recommend them to anybody. read more
