In late of May 2021, we had Mr. Al Stephens a security advisor come out to our home to give us an estimate on how to fully automate our home. We ended up purchasing three outdoor cameras and one doorbell camera. Mr. Stephens is totally amazing, he gave us a very reasonable price and was so amazing into helping us out I'm explaining all the cameras and all the products that we would be purchasing. We will definitely be coming back to him for multiple purchases for indoor cameras soon and a smart thermostat too. He is very professional, very funny, and just overall a joy to have in our home. He explained everything that the technician was going to do and all the price points and all other questions that we had were answered. Holy smoke!! I called last week to have cameras installed in my home. Kristen had NO idea what she was doing. I called back the next day and set up appt for 2:00 today. Monday 4/17. This morning I received a call saying I had a WINDOW of 4 hours when the representative would be here. Totally unprofessional . I called Custom Security and they are coming today at 2:00. I paid off the equipment and I was told when I cancelled the service (I cancelled because I didn't like their customer service) I was told I had 1 payment monthly left and then I was done. Well 3 months later they are still charging my card and when I called last month I was told it was the last time AGAIN, now I'm setting on hold after I explained the situation the rep told me she was transferring me to cancellation and I'm on hold at the beginning again--they really suck and I'm just going to charge this back with my card company--it is outrageous that they treat folks like this--a warning DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY-- VIVANT is a much better company--they do not CARE and are lousy and terrible to work with read more

We used ADT for 11 years. Just tried cancelling our service and they are threatening to charge $250 - $400 because of a "verbal contract". VERBAL CONTRACT!!!! Get real. I will NEVER use them again. I signed up with ADT without reading any reviews. Big mistake. After installing the cameras, etc. the installer gave me a 90 second orientation and left. . I paid the monthly fee for 36 months and now I am told I must keep the equipment. WHY? So if and when i sell my home. they'll have a hook to sign up the new owner. I am going to demand ADT remove their equipment and return my home as before. This was a terrible waste of money. read more

Just moved into a home over a month ago. The home came with ADT equipment that was inactive. Somehow they felt the need to send some random sales person (unannounced) to our home one evening. He wanted to come in to discuss my options with them. I have no idea if this dude was even legit and I was certainly not letting a stranger into my home! Telling me I can only get the "deal" today after I said would call them when I was ready! I know it's sales but it was super unprofessional! DO NOT USE ADT. Please save yourself the headache and go with literally ANYONE else. I genuinely would give yall 0 stars if I could. Our experience with ADT has been a NIGHTMARE. When the tech came to install our 2 WHOLE CAMERAS a year ago he barely knew what he was doing. Our cameras CONSISTENTLY break, and when our alarm goes off doesn't seem like anyone is dispatched. I pay $80 a month for a siren and unusable cameras :) When I call to ask for a tech to come out to fix the cameras, I can barely get ahold of anyone and when I do they are SO unhelpful. Why should I have to pay a tech AND labor fee when the $80 camera I paid for literally breaks everytime there's a power outage which in South Carolina happens EVERY MONTH! (: Oh and you can't cancel because you're in a 3 year contract and have to go in debt to cancel your service !!! ADT preys on new home owners by knocking on the door promising security and then doesn't hold their end of the bargain. YOU SUCK! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. So we have had ADT for 18 months which we never use or can even figure out. Sales man came once I guess had my husband sign a contract which we never had a copy of. I call to cancel service I'm told we have a 36 month contract what? They said we could get a lower monthly cost for 36 more months. I don't want any contract. Why can you lower now I've been paying 60 month for 18 months. This place is a scam. What a nightmare doing business with these thieves. everything is fine untill you need to call their useless customer service department after waiting 1 hr or maybe 1 1/2 hours. i had a power outage that started this saga. then the panel showed a lower battery. It was ordered and the wrong battery was sent. had to wait another week for the correct battery. plugged the new battery in and the panel went blank. after 2 techs came in (charged me 25.00 each). They think a power failure short circuited the panel. Result? Needed to buy all new equipment (1,600 dollars). Paid 600.00 for coverage for doors only for minimal security. wish I could give them a negative number. Received a response from ADT and they have credited my account. This is the type of response needed to clarify my concerns. I change my review to 3 stars. read more

after telling them my issues with my alarm and no one being able to trouble shoot over the phone. they sent out a tech person who says it'll be $59 for the assessmen, what assessment I already did the assessment it does not work. so the tech leaves. I reach out to yelp where adt reaches back out. they scheduled a live video call with me between 9:30am and 10am. they called at 10:40am. video starts tech person says oh yeah I can't do anything over the face call. tried to set an appointment with a tech but that I had to pay the $59 assessmen fee. crazy! stop wasting my time and other customers times as well. how can I get out of my contract? please and thank you. read more

I moved to Little River, SC last November, and I will nominate ADT for sending me the most advertising looking for my business. I have dealt with this company in the past. Worst security company I've dealt with. Definitely scam artists. Have had multiple issues with them in the short one month we've had their "service". Loooong wait times to even talk to someone about faulty equipment and when you do talk to someone you're either transferred to a different department or the call disconnects. Check their Better Business Bureau complaints, over 7,000 complaints. I wish I would have checked before I signed up with them. They never completed the install, left parts laying all over the floor for over a month and never finished the job. I tried to cancel and was told that I signed a 3 year contract that requires a 75% penalty for early termination. They told me the contract has nothing to do with the service ever being installed, the system working or anything else. They say if you sign it, you owe it whether they ever install the system or not. read more

I would not to allow them to come out for a sales call unless you want to be insulted and pressured. While our home was under construction in the MB area we allowed someone to come to quote a system. I won't go into details, but after two visits, with two different sales people, we never did get the system at the price promised on the phone. Further, we had to then speak to two different high pressured sales people on the phone, one named Dion that verbally insulted me repeatedly about wasting THEIR time. BEWARE OF ADT MYRTLE BEACH AND ERIC NESS I would give them a negative 0. We started a business in Myrtle Beach and the rep Eric Ness came out and one of the questions I asked was what happens if this business don't work will I have to buy out the contract, his response was you can move service. I told him no I have service at home and at our other business. He said well they will work with you. That was a lie. Our business lasted 6 months and we owed a hugh but out fee, they then charged my credit card for the fee without my permission because they used the card to pay for the installation of the system. DONT SET UP A CREDIT CARD OR THEY WILL CHARGE IT. DON'T BELIEVE YOUR SALEMAN ESPECIALLY ERIC NESS BECAUSE HE WILL LIE TO YOU TO GET YOUR SALE SO HE CAN GET THE COMMISSION. read more

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. I had this system when I lived in a rural area because my husband was ill and I wanted him to have the ability to get help when I was at work. He signed the contract and a few months later, he died suddenly. There is NIO cancellation option with ADT so I was on the hook for the entire amount of the contract. They're freaking horrible it a act of God 4 your system to work first they said it wasn't working properly I need to boost up my internet so I went from paying $35 to $79 now 4 internet then they tell me I need a booster single which cost $80.. and they would even guarantee that it will works and I'm paying $67 a month basically to having a home security system I was with my other home security system for 15 years I never had one freaking problem I got them in October of 2020 and its been a damn train wreck... in my opinion I strongly do not recommend read more

The security system works fine. The problem is I never received the $100 promotional Visa gift card as promised when I had my system installed. I called their 800 number seven times between Jan 2019 and today Mar 20 2019 and not ONE person returned a phone call or emailed me about the status of my card, even though every time I called or emailed ADT I gave them my contact information and asked for a response. I filed a complaint today with the Better Business Bureau about this incident. I would never recommend ADT to anyone, and I will continue to write negative reviews every chance I get. read more

do not get adt "safehaven" especially from greg schwartz, he is a salesman, i have cameras that arent working properly, had service out here 2x, i just got the system in the summer, still didnt fix anything, then greg says he will send his best technician, its been 2 weeks and im still waiting...if anything happens to my family since i am paying for service that im not being provided, they will have a huge lawsuit. if you want to protect your family, do not go with adt. read more
