My only experience with ADT made me never able to use ADT. Today, 3/12/2026 at approximately 6:30 PM I was driving on Rt 17 Eastbound in Orange County, NY, about 1 mile from the Fletcher Street exit. Saw an ADT van camping in the left lane, not passing anyone, not moving over. So I go to pass on the right, PITS, but no surprise, plenty of people are clueless. This mental midget driving a billboard on wheels thinks it's in his best interest to speed up, then although my turn indicator was on, he though it prudent to drive on the left shoulder and median to not let faster traffic over. Silly, I have front, rear, and side dashcams. This genius in van 298054, plate NYS 64987 MD, then doubled down, he just had to give me the finger when I finally got around him. Physical description is fat male, long hair and beard, looks like he smells. Small pudgy hands. Initially a stupid smirk. I can post the footage and photos of the entire incident, and will if no reply to this or a phone call that will be placed tomorrow. Ironic how a van can be lettered "Brilliantly safe" when this face of the company is neither safe, nor brilliant. Worst customer service. Husband called on 12/29/25 to cancel landline monitoring service, because we NO LONGER HAD A LANDLINE. Agent said she's send info on other services---which she never did---and Husband said he'd have to talk to me about other services. But landline service needed to be canceled. They never canceled our service and kept taking money out of our bank account. Said we never canceled. It was impossible for them to actually provide service without our having a landline. I finally called on early March and kept saying CANCEL to several people before they agreed to cancel. They refused to give back any of the money. Instead, the cancelation took a month to go into effect, and even though service is paid a month in advance, they kept taking money out until shortly before the cancelation went live. No refunds. ADT sucks!! They have all the gimmicks but the bottom line is they rape you of your money. I am a senior citizen who called about getting charged from $56/month to 97.50 a month. I have a 950 sq. Ft condo! You can't return equipment and they have. O dealings with the supplier that provides the equipment? Come on! You get so much money back from them it's ridiculous! But you can't help seniors or people who are struggling? Your company is the absolute worst. The equipment is sub standard. 2 of the 3 sensors do not work, the door camera had to be replaced 4 times! Adt sales rep lied to me on multiple occasions. I was told I had to take down my cameras to transfer service to my new home,when the installer came he said no you cant use the cameras have to buy new ones. I had to pay someone to take them down because they were high up. It delayed my transfer for 6 weeks. Every price I was told on the phone was wrong. I was talked into buying a camera with flood lights and promised it would be installed within 48 hours. 10 days later it sits on my counter. I called 3 times with no response. ADT has not fulfilled its promise to keep me safe. A physical threat was made on my property. I was unable to share recorded videos of the altercation with authorities. Cameras DID NOT record! ADT believes inconsistent Spectrum WiFi connection is not ADT's responsibility and Spectrum believes it is not a connectivity issue??? If ADT believes the problem lies with WiFi provider then had I known this could happen I would have never signed a contract with ADT as I do not have the option to select a different internet provider, but had other options besides ADT. Should my safety be threatened again and not recorded...the police department has it on record ADT failed to record the recent incident and there were other instances ADT cameras failed to record! Hence, should this issue reoccur, the newspapers and social media will be notified and ADT will hear from an attorney. As a home protection business, admitting internet WiFi can result in inconsistent recordings in writing is the legal and honest way to address this safety concern and potentially dangerous situation. Customers should have ALL the facts. Instructing the client to monitor ADT "safety" products is like a police dept telling a resident to keep an ear and eye open to THEIR police surveillance before a crime is committed; or like the fire dept asking a resident to stay up all night to make certain the fire dept is alert and ready to put out a fire in middle of the night??? ADT left me without a functioning alarm system for 3 days, knowingly. Unable to disarm my system due to a problem at their end and despite the fact that they know I am handicapped they were in no hurry to get a technician to my home to fix problem. One star is ten to many! Horrible company. The product didn't work. Multiple system failures, a camera that never worked. Their call center, the one that's supposed to call the police, didn't call the police when the alarm went off. They promised a full refund, never happened. They block their numbers when calling, will not provide an email, won't put anything in writing. Frauds!!!!!!! Their system is in a garbage bag, I had it removed when a new company installed a new system early this month. The new company is local, and everything works. I have a pending lawsuit scheduled for next month against ADT. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.....EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable, your sorry to hear this??!! Really? What a racket!!! Cameras constantly not working--no camera coverage, no clips--where's the security if you go for days on end with no video surveillance? Doorbell camera never worked, and could never talk to anyone at door. Ended up installing a Ring--in addition to ADT's junky doorbell so I could talk to delivery people at my door. What good are cameras that are constantly going offline? Again, had to install a Ring camera to see who was coming into my driveway. ANOTHER THING -- Lousy customer service. 45 minutes waits are typical, and then the person wants the customer to go around trying to fix things and when that doesn't work, it takes a week to get a tech person to come and put in place what you are already paying for--and then it stops working AGAIN! We have ADT because the equipment was already in place from the previous owners. My advice -- don't do what we did. ADT takes you money and leaves you hanging. read more

HORRIBLE. The salesman did not understand what we wanted/needed. To compound the problem, he ordered the wrong equipment. To the credit of the field manager, he swapped the equipment to make it right. However, warranty service is awful, it took weeks. We were without security cameras for 3+ weeks. Then they only partially fix the problem and tell us to "just turn on the NVR and login, it will be fine". So we try and it doesn't allow us to log in and see the cameras then the screen switches to Arabic. We call them back to come fix their problem and they try to charge us $500 for a service call??? Awful! If it was all done right the first time, this wouldn't be an issue. Recommend anyone but ADT just based on customer service alone. Update: ADT reached out to me thru yelp and said to contact them via email? Why should I have to take the time and effort? You know there's an issue, they should forward to the right people. In addition, it's bad enough ADT is stuck in the 80's with appointment times from 8-12, but when they don't show up or call or text to let you know they will be late, that's a total disregard for their clients time, unprofessional and disrespectful. Talk about bait and switch! They quoted me a price, which included 1 control panel, 3 door sensor and 10 window sensors. They also assured me they would be able to use a portion of my existing Vivint equipment (specifically the cameras, smoke detectors, remote locks, motion detectors, and thermostat) so there was no need for additional equipment. They charged an installation fee of $99 up front on the phone with a monthly monitoring service charge of $27.99! They're also going to throw in an extra credit $458 for equipment of my choice plus a $100 gift certificate because my son is a Veteran of the Iraqi Freedom war. "Please thank your son for his service". Sounds great! The tech (who claims he is also a manager) shows up, schmoozes up to you as your best friend. Immediately dismantles the existing panel cutting wires and install their own panel. They proceed to a home walk through telling you everything that's wrong with your existing system and how they are going to fix everthing because they are so much better. Suddenly you are sitting in front of an estimated cost of $7000. Oh but no, they're not suggesting that! This is just to show me how expensive it can be. Because he's the manager, he's going to give me a bunch of free stuff (the same stuff already included on the original phone quote) and charge only $52.99 monthly monitoring service. All I have to do is buy new cameras, smoke detectors, motion detectors, remote locks, and thermostat. Double take...wait, isn't that the same equipment I already own that I was assured on the the phone, could be used with no additional purchase or fees. "Absolutely not possible. Vivint equipment is proprietary. It is not compatible with ADT. The person that promised that will be fired!" Of course I am now very upset because of the deception and tell him so. He says there's nothing he can do since he is only a tech. He calls his office so I can speak with "his" manager who repeats the above denial word for word with the same indignation (this must be written down somewhere as part of their sales pitch). I insist on a refund of the $99 fee which they finally issue. I instruct the tech (manager) to reinstall my panel and make sure it's working as it was before he dismantled it. He assured me it was done so I sent him packing. Of course once he left, nothing was connecting. I had to call Vivint to come connect everything again. Apparently, he just connected the power but left a bunch of other wires unplugged. From reading the reviews in this site, it appears this is common practice for ADT. read more

Do not use ADT. I've had nothing but issues since I purchased the security system including faulty fire alarms which needed replacement twice in 6 months. When the technicians arrive to the house they're never clear on the job details and their customer service is horrific! The supervisors promise you the moon and stars and never deliver. I have to follow up several times to ensure simple things such as appointment times are correct bc they can't even get that right. Overall-it's a horrible company with poor customer service and zero accountability. read more

Buyer beware. The security advisor (from protectyourhome.com, the authorized dealer) who came to our home to recommend a system was very nice and knowledgeable. The starting offer was ludicruosly inflated, but after a few back-and-forths with the manager over the phone they finally made an offer that was competitive. I was told I would receive confirmation of the offer (including free months of monitoring and additional Visa cards) shortly. A week later I had to call to follow up and was assured it would be taken care of that day. Two days later still nothing. I have now disputed the first credit card charge and will not pay until they honor the offer. Or they can come take the equipment out of my house again.
