DO NOT BUY!!! This has been a nightmare. The equipment is faulty, there's hidden fees, they will not honor their contract and will weaponize the system against you. Both cameras stopped working and I've been through 11 smoke detectors. The smoke detectors would malfunction in the middle of the night and I'd have to climb a ladder and get them down, remove the batteries, and call in the morning to get a tech out to replace them. 11 TIMES! They eventually said they changed equipment providers and wanted to charge me over $100 for a service call to replace their faulty equipment that was supposed to be replaced for free under the lifetime warranty. Since it was a breach of contract I terminated it. The rep was belligerent and yelling, and repeatedly told me he'd brick my system. A system I already paid for and was told that I now owned the equipment and could take with me should I move. This morning when my husband tried to leave for work he couldn't disarm the panel, it was functional but it wouldn't allow him to disarm, holding us hostage in our own house. He had to leave for work which set the alarm off. I ended up taking the panel off the wall and putting it in a closet because ADT made sure there was no way to turn it off and no way to log into the system. I got this system because I had a stalker, but ADT has been far worse. I was told I "qualified" for some of the equipment to be free and was then charged anyway. Then even after completely paying for the equipment and being told I owned it and it belonged to me, ADT bricked it by making it impossible to turn off the alarm because I didn't wish to continue the monitoring service, since they were in breach of contract. This has been a huge waste of time, money, and my sanity. All this in just a little over two years. After posting this review I'll be looking for any class action lawsuits I can join against ADT. read more

Terrible company. Their systems pieces crapped out on me and I have to get charged to have them replaced, even for them to just give me a replacement part it's a charge for them to come deliver it. My service only worked for a month or so. It disconnected and I didn't even know it wasn't working. It hasn't worked for months and all they offered is for me to fix myself while online with an agent. 2 hours later I fixed 1 of the 2 issues. I asked for them to cancel the service and they wanted to charge me a cancelation fee. I have been paying this entire time for no service and now they want more of my money??? Rip off!!! read more

This is a horrible, horrible company. The long range cellular radio failed it was replaced and it failed again within 12 hours outdated equipment we tried to cancel and we canceled in October (we paid for October) and now they put us in collections for $12 when we already paid in advance for im October. I would never recommend ADT to anyone.. one .. they're google cameras are good, but dealing with customer service is the worst I've ever had in my whole life neither hang up on you put you on hold or transfer you somewhere else and then you go through the same thing again with them.. they need to monitor these people they don't seem to care my big complaint is I went from ADT blue to ADT+ to utilize more cameras.. I was misinformed by the salesman that I didn't need to return the adt equipment on the blue. I was also told I would not be billed for the ADT blue future service... Then adt informed me I had to wait 30 days to cancel my ADT blue and paid for that extra month with having two services at one time : I waited the 30 days to get a email from them on returning the ADT blue equipment numerous phone calls. Never got the email on the address to send it to or the supply list never now they want to bill me for that equipment and service this is a total fraud company... This review is for ADT and also Defenders (homedefenders.com) because ADT licenses their name and logo for Defenders to use to rip people off. The phone sales rep tells you they can use your existing wired alarm system. When the tech gets there he says it's old and they don't use it anymore. (it wasn't) That was a lie. I wanted the $27 landline promotion, the phone sales rep refused to discuss pricing over the phone and insisted on sending out a tech to my house with no obligation to purchase. Then in my house the tech says that "they won't send out another tech free of charge after sending me here today". That was a lie. The tech set up a cellular system for $50 a month and said then it would be easy to downgrade to the $27/mo landline package later. He said "you have 90 days to downgrade". When I call to set up an appointment to downgrade, they apologize that "I was given the wrong information" and that I only had 30 days to downgrade, and that there was "nothing they can do". That was a lie. I ask to speak to a manager to explain that I was told word for word that I had 90 days to downgrade, while the tech pointed at the 90 day limited warranty as he said so. Jolisa gets on the phone and says she will authorize the downgrade, and schedules an appointment with a tech who will also add a CO2 monitor we asked for. We were excited that they had finally done right by us. The tech gets to our house and installs the $200 CO2 monitor, and says that he has bad news: He doesn't have the right part to complete the downgrade to $27/mo. ADT will reach out and reschedule another tech to come out with the right part. This was all a lie. The techs are told exactly what the customer wants and what to bring before they are sent out. When I call back to set up another appointment like the tech promised. I am told that no manager had ever authorized a downgrade. I explain that Jolisa had already authorized a downgrade, and that a tech was sent to my house to do so. They say that they "apologize if I was misled" but that Jolisa actually wasn't a manager, and she had since moved departments, so a manager never authorized a downgrade and there was nothing they could do. This information is being given to me piece by piece after they leave me on hold for 20-30 minutes at a time. -Jolisa lied about being a manager -Jolisa lied about authorizing a downgrade -the tech Gustavo lied about why he was sent to my house -Gustavo lied about not having the right part -Gustavo lied and said Defender would reach out to reschedule. Perhaps the phone rep lied about Jolisa being a manager when she actually was one. I will never know. They have no intention of honoring the word of the technician that lied to me to get me to sign. phone rep Camerie, said that there was "no way to prove what was said", and that she had spoken to the technician that was sent to my house to do the downgrade, and he said the install had been completed and there were no missing parts. I asked her what the technicians name was and she said "Chris" (his name was actually Gustavo) so that was another lie. At first this system seem to put me at ease since I have a two year old and my husband works a lot. Three months later and the system is nothing but trouble. I call to try to get them to come out because their system is just malfunctioning. An alarm I do not have was going off saying it was broken. The person I talked to emailed me a picture of the what I'm suppose to have. I do not. She says if it happens again to call and they will send someone out for free to fix it. Same month it's going off again I call and they wanna charge me $35 for coming out to fix it. I try explaining the whole situation, they tell me nothing can be done unless I pay. They also tell me my warranty is out. The first time I called I was still in warranty but now am not. This company is all about taking money and not so much protecting your home. I tried to speak with a supervisor and he just kept repeating himself saying he understood my frustration but needed the money first. So I email corporate and they tell me they would be happy to come fix it for $25. I am just so unhappy with ADT customer service. I'm locked in for a year paying every month for a system that doesn't work. The whole system is now on silent because I get 100 alarms in one day. I've gotten two different prices for someone to come out and fix a problem that is out of my hands and nothing I did. It's not a lot of money that they are asking I just don't understand why I need to pay for their malfunction. Not to mention they came to my door and asked to put their system in my house. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Just looked at other reviews on Google and I have no confidence that my issue will be resolved. I am seeing the same issues happen with other people just two days ago!!! This company has absolutely no customer service. Don't answer the door when they come knocking! If you sign up for ADT through a third party, you have to then cancel through that third party, but some of your customer support is provided by ADT. It's a very confusing set up from a customer perspective. Cancelling through any third party is next to impossible. They don't answer, return calls, or respond to emails. And of course, you can only cancel by getting one of their operators on the phone. But you can bet they will hound you to get you to sign up. Do yourself a favor, buy Google cameras and put them up. No subscription necessary and the technology is the same. ADT has too many website, each with a different log in. The apps and websites are clunky and not user friendly. read more

They are EXTREMELY manipulative with their contracts. I called them up, and they asked if I have an alarm system. I said yes. They said "great. We can save you some money if you don't need us to put in a new system. I asked how much, and they said that it would be just 19.99 per month. "Thats a great deal" I said. "It's a three year contract" they said. I said "no problem that's such a great price that I'll happily pay it for three years. Turns out the 19.99 price was only for the FIRST year. After that it costs 30 dollars per month. So now you're stuck paying 30 dollars per month just because you signed up to pay 19.99. ADT should be taken to court for false advertising. If I had more money for lawyers maybe I would. Then again if I had more money maybe I would have signed up for a real alarm company that doesn't play a game of GOTCHA with it's hard working customers. 10 dollars a month for two years adds up to 240. We won't ever be doing business with ADT again. After multiple attempts at having them out to change us over to a wireless system when we wanted to get rid of our landline, they couldn't sync up an appointment that worked with our work schedules (regular 9-5 but both our jobs were an hour away at the time) and taking time off was not an option. After the first appointment we finally managed to schedule had to be cancelled due to a family emergency, we were able to schedule a second appointment for a weekend, two months out. They never showed up. When we called, we were given no explanation. We said screw it, cancelled them, and cancelled our landline. I would give ADT no stars if possible. The equipment is old and unreliable and the installer punched a hole in my wall for the alarm panel power wire without asking. For the first six months of having the system it would give random false alarms on various sensors. After three years the control panel was upgraded because of connection issues and another piece of equipment was added to boost signal and reception between the panel and sensors. The beginning of Oct 2022 the long range radio failed and it took a week for a technician to come out and replace it after spending four hours on the phone trying to explain to someone in a foreign country what the problem was. Oct 13th the technician arrived and for $65 dollars replaced the long range radio. He completed the repair around 2pm and left. Oct 14th 2am the panel starts making noise and tells me the radio failed again. I called them at 8am and waited on hold for two hours and then got hung up on and then waited another two hours on hold before speaking to another person in a foreign country that couldn't understand me or what the message on the panel said. After close to an hour on the phone with that person trying to get a technician to come out he says it's going to be another week before they can come. I decided at this time that I was done with ADT and would be canceling my service with them. When I called them back to cancel I was informed that my service had just renewed on Oct 13th so I couldn't get it shut down until the following month and they would not refund my money for the remaining time. So here we are in December and I get a bill from them because my automatic payment didn't go through for $11.95 on Nov 13th. How do they think I owe them anything when they failed to provide the service they were charging for. Lets not forget the week in October where they were not providing service because the radio was dead and I was waiting for a technician, they didn't discount my bill a single penny. My advice to everyone looking into getting an alarm system is to shop around and AVOID ADT!!!!!! read more

All holders of adt systems! Beware! We pay monthly, set our alarm every night. Then we were robbed! No alarm went off. No trouble noted on the panel. Nothing! ADT'S response when the alarm did not go off .... the customer is responsible for making sure your system is working! And communicating with ADT! If you can set your alarm that is a false positive! They don't monitor and/or care whether their customers actually have protection! They flat out lie! DO NOT USE THEM! You too will suffer at their total ineptness! Horrible horrible attitude. This company is a scam. I've only had my system for 3 months and the first time I called with issues I was in warranty and they told me to call back again if it happens instead of sending someone out. The next time I called they told me I was out of my warranty and need to pay to have someone come out. Not to mention when the tech guy was installing he had issues with the same window I am now getting 150 alerts a day about. I tried explaining it to this crook of a company. They don't wanna hear what I have to say. All ADT wants is their money and that's all they care about. I have a 6 month guarantee on this installment and when I told them about it they said that doesn't mean anything about your situation. This company is a straight up scam. Do not trust ADT with the safety of your family because they only care about money. Please do your research about this company. I wish I did. If I had just gone on here or even google I could have seen I am not the only one with this problem.
