UPDATE: So Terrance from "customer service" reached out to talk. HORRIBLE. All he did was say that there is nothing they can do to help or update. He said that if we can't get it together then we should look to leave ADT. There was an apology, but NOTHING done on the Company side to make it right for us in the way that we were treated. This call, was another waste of time. And we will be leaving ADT as soon as we can without having to pay their exorbitant fees for moving that have never been a part of our experience and this farce of a contract is up. USE ANYTHING ELSE BUT THIS COMPANY. EVEN THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS ARE RUDE AND DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU. We have been customers for over 10 years with this company. We've moved across the country with them. The past two years have been the WORST experience with these people. Moving once more across town, we are being nickeled and dimed, we were hung up on multiple times, and we were told we now have to move our own equipment. I asked for a burglar alarm on a one-year contract and was given a price of $39 per month. ADT installed a multi-use unit (burglar/fire/carbon monoxide) and had me sign the "work order". My husband had recently passed, and I had a lot going on. I didn't realize it was a contract. It said work order. I looked over it a few days later and realized what they did. It said I would be paying for all the equipment for five years at $59 per month. When I called them, they said I should have called within 3 days. After that the alarm malfunctioned and kept going off. Supposedly it's fixed, but I'm now told that I will be charged for any further service even if it's their equipment. The worst possible experience with ADT. Sales representatives show up to my home unannounced and presented their pitch. I listened, provided my suggested coverage, and asked for the quote to be emailed as I needed time to review with my spouse. When he began to take my information for the quote he asked for my credit card for installation. I politely but expressly said I needed time to review with my spouse and that I was not going to provide my card information to a stranger. The interaction kept going downhill from there. They lied and said I was a part of some new homeowners program (I'm not) and that my realtor should have mentioned that when we closed on the home (they didn't). That their offer was only good until they left. That I didn't need to discuss with my spouse. That my card wouldn't be charged until after installation but that a hold would be placed on the card until install was finish. Mind you I had not committed to anything. So, why do you need my payment information, if I said I wasn't committing to ADT service? I just asked for a quote to be emailed, that's it. The agent was beyond persistent, condescending, rude, and insulting. He refused to take no for an answer and continued to insult me presenting his pitch after I asked him and his co-agent to leave. I kept reiterating the same thing and he kept on belligerently insulting that I didn't understand or that I was confused, and that I was contradicting myself. I was very clear that I wanted time to review the security quote with my spouse before signing or paying for anything. I had to basically force the agents out of my home. This was a terrible encounter. If I was considering ADT before I sure am not now. Teach your salespeople that no means NO the first time! read more

Absolutely terrible customer service from their main office. I have been a customer for 7 years. We moved to a condo and did not take our service with us. When I was canceling the service, the service agent gave me a hard time about leaving ADT. She was rude and curt and said "Why would you not take us with you, do you not care about your safety" I was angry, but I let it go. However, today I had a charge on my CC for $408. I called again, and the agent said it was an early cancellation fee. She told me my contract was renewed in January, and that they had me on a recording accepting the terms of the contract and that I would be charged a cancellation fee. First, I was never on a call with anyone from ADT in January. Second, I have NEVER had to renew my contract the 7 years I have been with ADT. Third, She is lying. She refused to refund my money. She said "If only you had taken us with you, you would not have been charged" WOW.. is all I have to say and I hope the $408 dollars was worth loosing a customer for life and a bad review. read more

ADT contracted with me to provide security in exchange for a monthly fee for 3 years. In year three, the system stopped dialing out. ADT offered to upgrade my equipment if I would sign up for 36 more months. ADT did NOT offer to repair the existing equipment. In March 2024, I again reported the issue and asked to be released from my contract. ADT said no. Fast forward to August - with one month left on a contract ADT was not performing on, I took the drastic measure of canceling the credit card with the ADT auto payment. Now ADT is harassing me for payment for the final month of a 36-month contract ADT has not performed on - $50 dollars. I paid for 35 months and many of those months ADT did not perform and they were aware of the issue for the final 6 months of the contract. Sharing for awareness. read more

I signed up ADT in 2 of my houses I'm nov 2019. I thought I had 24 month contract. Well I find out today it is a 36 month contract. I'm selling the house. The new buyers don't want to transfer the service to them. Yes called to Cancel, they are charging me 75% of my balance of contract! Keep in mind I bought all my equipment from them. Had 2 houses etc. They are still charging me this rediculous fee. Not 25% not 50%. But 75%!!! This is price Gouging ! They make money. When you sign up. Pay their price for equipment, then the $59 a month fee for 36 months. No ADT sales person should never step foot on any of my property ever again. Shame! Shame Shame on them ! read more

In August 2021 I purchased a home that had ADT installed in it. The system installed was in perfect working condition. I called ADT to have the account transferred into my name and activated. I was advised a technician from Safe Streets, a 3rd party installer, would come out. Chris from Safe Streets came to my home on September 7, 2021. Chris advised I would be getting a free upgraded control panel, I asked what's the catch, Chris said there is no catch, it is a promotion through ADT. Chris installed the new panel, through the old panel away. Chris then explained that the new panel was not compatible with the sensors. He then said he had to replace them all to make the system work. Chris advised this is all covered in my monthly payment of $53 to ADT. I was very upset and spoke to a rep at Safe Streets who assured me this was the deal. Chris was missing a glass breaker and smoke detector and said he would have to return. Once Chris left, a rep from Safe Streets called and said there is an additional $100 due a month for the new alarm system they installed. I was very pissed and said this is not what was agreed to and they advised a manager would call me back. On September 8th, I called and spoke to several people trying to cancel the account and was passed around, told to call ADT and ADT said cal Safe Streets. I was then transferred to Lisa/ I explained the situation to Lisa and advised I was not paying over $150 for an alarm system and wanted it all out of my house. Lisa said she would call the corporate office and get back to me. I called for 3 days without a response. A week later someone called me and advised I was past the 3 days for termination. I advised them of all the calls I've made and no one calls back. I advised you try to call you sit on hold for 1.5hrs and sometimes more. I advised I spoke to Lisa and advised to cancel the whole deal and come get the equipment out of my home immediately. They said someone from Management would call me back shortly. October 1, 2021, no representative from ADT or Safe Streets called me back, so I began to send emails, to which nobody responded. This has been the issue since September 8, 2021. Everytime I call ADT they send me to Safe Streets, when I call Safe Streets a manager is supposed to contact me within 24hrs. As you can tell that has not happened. On December 16, 2022 I received a bill from Safe Streets for $2,092.57 to be paid by 1/9/2023 for a system I've never used and asked to be removed the day after it was installed. I spent 6hrs on the phone and emailing 12/19/22 with ADT and Safe Streets to rectify this situation. ADT rep said we can give you a free upgrade and work with you the 14mo you paid for a system you did not use and I advised I do not feel comfortable with ADT ever again. From what I've learned is both ADT & Safe Streets have done this to other customers. You guys chose not to cancel when requested, then wait for a month after the request and reach out with its past the 3 days. I have the phone records showing I reached out to both companies multiple times. I want the system out of my home. I want the bill for $2,092.57 removed from my account. I may request the 14mo I paid ADT to be refunded since you guys can pull account and see the system was never used. I never used it because I wanted it removed. I have all the emails I sent requesting it to be removed. At this time I have provided the information to BBB, to social media, YELP, and will go to the news paper, news station, and radio stations to make sure this does not happen to other people. read more

I am trying to add cameras to my already existing services, three retail locations. After being on the phone for 45 mins and spending 25 mins of that on hold waiting on Joe to get a quote from his supervisor. During my hold time I was transferred to a new agent twice as if I was just calling in. They just lost a customer. I still have awhile on the contracts but I will be getting my cameras elsewhere. read more

From initial consult to installation, ADT customized my home security needs flawlessly. Prices are reasonable and customer service is very responsive. I had an issue with one of cameras lagging and they came out the next day to install a WiFi extender for free. They truly back up their product and I can't be happier. read more

I have been with ADT for 2 years now and finally did an upgrade to video services. Samuel, my salesman was awesome and ensured that everything was good to go with my order and installation. Tim and John came out an did my installation. Very nice, very professional and did not leave until they were sure I was satisfied with every bit of the new equipment, camera angles and my ability to use the new equipment. I have been an ADT customer for 20 years. All was well until, I started having an issue with an upgraded system. I have had 4 separate technicians out to fix the issue with no resolution. Scheduling appts. has been a nightmare. Terrible costumer service.I do not recommend this company. Too many new companies and new products with much better customer service than ADT. read more
