Alarm panel communication errors causing constant sounding every few minutes. We have to manually clear it. ADT won't send anyone for 5 more days. After talking to supervisor of the supervisors, Lindsay #310409 and back to the alarm silencing professional, I was told that my options were 1. Sit on the phone or by the panel and clear the alarm every 10-15 minutes all day and all night until 5 days have passed and the technician arrives, 2. Power off the alarm, powering off the entire business for 5 days until the technician arrives, or 3. Pay $50 plus $88 per hour for a technician to come out in 12-18 hours meanwhile sitting there and clearing the alarm every 10-15 minutes for the next 12-18 hours. ADT GO TO ###! Had ADT for years. My family had it as well. My family died. We sold the house. Yet ADT forced us to keep service Paid them for 30 days. Even though the service is not being used . In a home that's owned by someone else. And to make matters worse. I spoke to a account manager Lexx.Who now said reprep Katherine could of canceled it if had copy death cert and refunded the money. No thirty days wait. Then this lady Lexx ask me for my account info to see if can help me lower my account. I said I don't want sales pitch. That's all ADT did after my families death . ADT might be the worst company when it comes to customer experience. For the sale, I was quoted one figure by the sales team and a completed different figure by the installation manager. When trying to cancel my ADT service it took 3/4 of a day between the hold time and transfers. I would only recommend ADT if you enjoy poor customer service, disrespectful sales personnel, or wasting your day on hold while trying to disconnect your service. read more

I was a customer with ADT for 14 years and paid quarterly for monitoring services. On 9/18/23 my home had been entered when out of town. The screen on the keypad showed the alarm was tripped, however ADT did not notify the police or me. I immediately called and spoke to Isaiah who put me on hold for 30 minutes. I could no longer hold so I called back several times. I finally got through to someone on 9/23/23 and I was told the system had lost communication and had not been monitored. I asked for how long and no answer was given. Therefore, I had been charged for services I did not receive. I told the person to cancel my account. I also told them I was not paying the latest bill as it covered a period during which they could not tell me I received services and also future months where I would no longer be a customer. She told me she could credit for 1 month only. Again, I said if you can prove I received the service I'm being charged for I would pay it. That was the end of the discussion. I assumed the matter was taken care of until I received a past due notice on 11/20/23. I called again and was transferred to customer accounts. I received Isaiah again, but this time held on to the call even though I was put on hold for a period of time. After explaining the situation, he told me my account could be credited for 1 month and there was no record of me cancelling. He also said that he just checked and saw where the system was communicating. I said that was impossible as I disconnected everything and had a new system installed. At this point I became irate but remained calm and stated not only was I not paying I should file suit for past payments where I did not receive services. I also said I have a record of who I spoke to previously including himself. He then became very condescending and said I can do what I want, and he also called me a liar. I've been on the phone trying to get a replacement battery for 30 minutes now, because the one they sent was wrong. I was put on hold for 15 minutes, and currently I am still on the phone with them and very frustrated. The operator initially did not listen to anything I said and I am sure of this, because after I was done talking, she asked me everything that I had already told her. Finally, she came back to the phone and transferred me to Sales department, who didn't know anything about why I was transferred, so I had to say everything all over again. Then that person transferred me to another person without warning, who did not pickup, so the automated system said that I would have to wait another 15 minutes to speak with someone or I could get a call back. So I opted for the latter and the system sounded like it blurted out some code I needed to write down and hung up. No code repeat option or anything like that. Now, I am currently waiting for a callback--if that comes. I am sure that I'm going to cancel this service soon, this is really ridiculous. They should have given me a free replacement battery just for waiting so long. Its crazy that there are so many low reviews for this place. read more

ADT not even deserving single star. Installation person gave me different price than the original price i received from sales person. When installation person try to call his manager to solve this issue, the manager's behavior was also very rude. (i will recommend him to take some customer service classes, that will help him in the future). The manager explain the same things as the installation person said to me and didn't offer any help. He was straight to us if we need ADT service or not. We simply denied this installation. There was no communication between the sales person and installation person. When i asked to get the notes from sales person, they said they don't have access to any notes and the sales person's contact. Customer service at ADT is pitiful. It took 4 phone calls over several days and hours with multiple transfers and misrouting, just to cancel the security alarm service. It should have been a simple process. I think that is all by design. I thought it was canceled after the first call, but continued to receive bills. Called again and they said they saw I called, but account was not canceled. I gave them my cancelation confirmation number, but they wouldn't acknowledge it. I was then treated like a hot potato, transferred to someone else and had to explain the whole thing and provide the same identifying information all over again. A total of 3 hours on the phone and having to stick and unstick censors so much, I have to use duck tape to hold 3 censors up while I wait for them to send me more tape. They are still sending me emails to test the service. I have repeatedly responded to that email telling them to stop sending them because I don't live there anymore. I asked ADT to cancel my account a year ago. They kept calling me about an equipment update and I kept telling them my account should be cancelled but they kept charging me every month. I called a couple of weeks ago and they said we record all calls and have no records of you cancellation. I asked them to cancel yet again and told them to make sure they take a not of that. As I did nit trust them I asked my credit cart company to block any charges from them. Yesterday they called and said you haven't paid your fees for the month!!!!! Rip off!!! They make you sign, minimum of 3 years, contract and keep raising the monthly rate. If you want to add on any other services or items on your account, they make you sign ANOTHER 3 year minimum contract and will continue to up the rate from the contracted amount. They stick you with a bill when you terminate their service. I provided advance notice of my home selling, but they indicated they need time (30+ days) to "turn off" the system (complete BS); therefore, even though I was a customer for more than 10 years, they sent me a bill for $11. I guess that's their way of "extracting whatever they can" from customers on the way out. Our company owns ~80,000 apartments and has roughly 150,000 residents. I was bullied into getting ADT by my a**hole residential insurance company- they forced me to sign up for ADT....clearly they have a corporate deal where right before I accept my insurance quote, they force you to sign up for ADT or you don't get your insurance. corporate cronyism. ADT is a crooked company. They say they have a 6 month guarantee, that if you are unhappy with services, you can cancel. This is not true. We are unhappy with our service, called to cancel and they said they do not hold our contract . We signed up through and ADT salesman who came to our newly purchased home. He gave us pricing and set up an installation company to install. Little did we know, the installation company holds a contract for 3 years and if you try to cancel , they charge you for the whole 3 years. We had to order a separate camera because the ones they set us up with a month before was now canceled and no longer being use. The new camera they sold us had to be monitored through another app. so for us to view our home, we had to go through 2 apps to view the camera footage. we returned the new camera and it took 2 month, 1 week in contact with customer service and an hour on the phone for them to issue a refund. But not a full refund because they lost the camera after it was delivered by FedEx. DO NOT use ADT!!! read more

ADT provides poor customer service. Changed internet providers, panel connects but my cameras don't. Called customer service we tried to troubleshoot but couldn't, to have a tech come out I have to pay. I can have one come out in a day but who wants to pay. Funny thing is 2 days before this problem I did a complete upgrade to google everything. i have to wait a week for that. lol ADT is horrible. Not even worth the 1 star i had to give them. The sales guy gave me a bill of goods. I have had nothing but problems with Service/Equipment and billing. When 3 customer service reps will give you 3 diff answers to the same questions you know you're in trouble. Due to the lack of service, I told them to shut down my account and system. I was quoted $101.18 as a shut down fee on Nov 29 2017. I got an email today saying I owed $269.00. Over the last 3 years, we have repeatedly called ADT for help, only to be ignored and dismissed. When and IF we received help, the servicemen had no idea why they were here, what they needed to fix, or how to fix it. Our alarms went off during store hours, in the middle of the night, and even the panic button stopped working, and they didn't even bother to send a new one when the service man came to check on the rest of the system. Again he had no idea what we needed or why he was there. They are not helpful, considerate, or professional. If only I can give a zero star. I will NEVER use ADT again in my lifetime and will never advise my family and friends to use them either. Over a year ago I had a sales person in my home and him knowing that I was renting the property and only living there for a year he only showed me on his tablet the amount of money the monthly fee was and NEVER showed or pointed out to me this was a 3 year commitment. So now owing over $1000 for the remaining 2 years on the contract. They can transfer this service to my new property they want to stick me with a new 3 year contract. Yeah NO WAY. ADT is horrible! I got a doorbell camera installed and it didn't work almost immediately upon installation. The same technician (who was not competent) returned the same day and replaced the doorbell camera with a new doorbell camera. Also, the ADT technician did not provide me with a charger for the doorbell unit. They stated they did not have one and I need to call ADT. Per ADT's website, a charger is supposed to come with the doorbell unit. I had to call ADT, yet again, to inform the ADT agent the technician did not provide me with a charger and it is supposed to come in the box, as indicated on the website. The ADT agent told me to go to Walmart and buy one (even though it's supposed to come with the unit and I paid for the unit already). After much going back and forth with the agent they credited my account for a charger and I would still have to get a charger on my own. Back the doorbell; after the second installation of a doorbell, the doorbell still did not work. I had to call ADT too many times in order to make an appointment to have a technician come out to determine the issue. ADT wanted me to wait over 2 weeks for a technician to come out and they were going to send the same incompetent technician. I told them no, and finally they stated they would send a senior technician. When the senior technician came out, they stated ADT's doorbell cameras are a poor product, they never work as they should and offered to uninstall it for me. I agreed and I received a refund for the doorbell. Now I am running into more issues with ADT. After the doorbell was uninstalled my contract was not reverted back to my old contract that I had prior to getting the doorbell. ADT is attempting to charge me monthly for a doorbell camera that I do not have! I called several times and each time an agent informed me the ADT branch has to call me back to fix the contract and I will get a call back within 48 hours. Well, it has been two plus weeks and I still have not received a phone call and my bill is still incorrect and my bill is due in less than 5 days. If I would have known this would have happened, I would have NEVER signed up for this doorbell, or with ADT at all! I am still dealing with this issue and getting nowhere with ADT. I can't believe this company is allowed to treat their customers in such a manner and get away with it. Also, if you ever speak with an Account manager name Shontice, ask to speak to someone else, or hang up and try again. Shontice is rude, condescending, talks over you when you are speaking, yells at you, and talks to you like you are 3. I can't believe, they are an account manager providing "higher level (their words, not mine)" of service when their service is lower than low. I have never had such a bad interaction with a representative in my life! Shontice needs to find another job because customer service is not their gift in life. If I could rate ADT with no stars, I would. Actually, I would love to give ADT a fabulous review, but unfortunately I can't in good consideration. ADT has been VERY difficult to work with. I moved from my home to an apartment and they were not willing to work with me regarding the contract cancellation fee, which was over $800. I even signed on with their ADT Blue because those services would still be within my contract period. I was told that there was no contract cancellation fee since BLUE is a month-to-month service. I was told A LOT of things but only to spend hours on the phone with NO resolution. Please DO NOT sign on with ADT!!! PLEASE Find a company who is ethical and respectful of it's customers. ** I may start a class-action lawsuit... Wait, wait, it looks like that's already been done - a FEW times! I guess small claims court is the way to go! ** SO, ADT reached out. By responding back - EXCEPT that 1) I didn't try to get of my contract by cancelling it - I MOVED, 2) 25% was never offered to me when I called and I STILL get the courtesy of paying over $600? We have had ADT for about 2 months. The system is works but we have had an issue with our door bell. We have rescheduled them to come out to fix it and the last 3 times they have not shown up. If I did not have all this equipment with ADT, I would switch to another company. I have had ADT for a long time, but lately their service has not been up to par. When I went to use Pulse on my phone, my password would not work. I requested a password reset, an was able to reset my password. The next time I tried to log in, that password would not work, so I had to request another password reset. Their reply was sorry, we are locking your account because of too may failed attempts. I called them and they said we have to send a technician to your home, and the earliest we can do it is almost a week away. I wonder if the president of the company had trouble with his system, would it take a week for someone to take care of it, I think not. Now I cannot control anything remotely or see any cameras. Grab some tea, coffee, other fortification. This is going to be a long story, but one that you need to read if you are remotely thinking of going with this company. Proceed with caution in dealing with ADT. In May 2017 I entered into a 3 year contract with ADT for a house I just bought. A few days after digitally signing the contract they sent a "tech" out to activate my equipment. Long story short - my house stunk of cigarettes after the "tech" left. I deduced that this must have come from the frequent trips he made to go outside. I didn't check to see what he was doing, thinking that he was just doing what needed to be done to activate my system. My mistake again. I suppose I should have specified that the tech must be a non smoker or have sufficient deodorization products to quench the stench. Then a little over a year later, I get a notice from ADT that I would see a small increase in my bill. It increased by $3.79 per month. So another year passes & wham I get another increase of $3.79. I found it odd that it was the very same increase as the year before. So here I am since I started their service with a total rate increase of $7.58 - ok my limit was reached! That's $90.96 per year. I looked at my contract to see when it would end. Ummm, there is no end date specified only a generic statement that the contract is for 3 years. Hmm, is it from the date I signed the contract then? I give up! So I read through it a bit more and saw that in section 3 of the contract it said that I could object in writing if I did not agree with the rate increase ADT had a right to do after one year. I started writing an objection just like the contract said I should. When I finished I looked for an address in the contract to which I should send the objection to. Guess what, THEY DON'T PROVIDE ONE! This little omission set my red flag detector off big time. So I looked further into the contract - all they ever provided was a phone number to call...if you ever have spoken with anyone at ADT on the phone you know it's a complete cluster**ck. I contacted them through their website contact form and never received an answer. Ha! go figure. So I started looking at reviews and found a response from ADT to a few bad reviews that contained an email address. So I emailed AlwaysThere@adt.com and requested a mailing address to which I could send my rate increase objection too. They emailed back asking for my name and location to investigate but did not provide me with a mailing address so I could follow what they required in the contract. I sent that to them. The next day I received another email from them saying that they were able to handle the objection, but still did not provide me with a mailing address so I could follow the terms of my contract....they can hold you to the terms of your contract so I was not at all happy with having my objection handled another way that did not follow the requirements of the contract. After this bit of ridiculousness, I knew I needed to get a mailing address to which I could send my cancellation notice and any further rate increase objections. Since ADT would not provide me with this directly I requested assistance from my state attorney general's office. That office agreed that this situation with ADT was appropriate for the informal complaint resolution services offered by their Consumer Resource Center. They got a response from ADT with the address to where I can send my notice and email addresses to do that also. But their website will tell you that you can't cancel online...and here they gave an email address...um that's online right? BTW they don't send email read receipts so I suppose they could claim that they never got the email requesting not to renew, or objecting to the rate increase. It's best to send a letter with a delivery/signature confirmation so you'll have proof that you sent it if ADT suddenly doesn't have your notice to cancel, or objection to rate increases. My head was spinning after reading through their website. What a bunch of bullcaca to have to go through to follow the terms of a contract they will hold you to. BTW If you cancel you get to pay 75% of the remaining contract. At about $1700 per term that's about $1200 to get out of it. All said - I am locked into a 36 month contract that was dated May 2017 and according to ADT my contract end date is June 2020...really? That seems like 37 months. Whatever! Be warned their contract is so convoluted that gargling peanut-butter is an easier task than trying to abide by their contract. Here's some of their verbiage: "This Contract will automatically renew for successive thirty (30)-day terms unless terminated by either party at least thirty (30) days before the end of the current term" ----- but the contract does not tell you the date of the end of the current term. You have to go into your online MyADT account to find that...really? Note the immediate ADT canned response below. read more

Worse company for an alarm system yet. Number one if it went off they didn't call. We were told that once the equipment was paid for the bill would go down and it went up. Every time I called they would offer to decrease my bill but it would go back up again with no warning, that's why they want to take it out of your account. When I called to cancel they offered to go down again, then the billed me twice after I canceled claiming it took that long. Do your self a favor avoid them! Aside from the fact that when we had them I was always on the phone with one problem or another, this comment is about what happens when you terminate their service. Each person I talked to told me we had 30 days before the contract would charge for the remaining balance for monitoring since our new buyers had that much time to re activate so I would not have to pay the balance. They have attempted to charge me twice and we still have 10 days to go and every time I call its a different person, until I actually got a service person to send me an email in writing to verify I had this time. That did not even keep them from trying to get the money before it was due to them. This person this morning told me a completely different story than the person who sent me the email. If our new buyers do not set up service exactly by 3/18, ADT not only gets every dime I have to pay but then collects the 56.00 a month from the new buyers. So is it in their best interest to even tell me the truth? The equipment was very expensive I paid cash for and we were always having false alarms, billing was never straight. My wanted piece of mind at our new home and decided to give Adt a call, we've seen the commercials. Long story short, we wanted the wifi cameras and was told the cctv was the best. We tried it for a week and all types of problems, pretty much did nothing. I reached out and said i didnt want the equipment and service anymore. I was told we were in a 5 year contract, they could come pickup the equipment if i wanted, but im under contract and was still going to be billed for the next 5 years for the equipment!!!! I am fed up! I have had nothing but problems with various aspects of my security system. What has really put me over the top is the ridiculously long hold times for any kind of service. I keep getting false alarms and notifications that doors and/or windows were opened when I know for a fact they were not. I also keep getting something called a "supervision error" with one particular door that they can't seem to resolve. When I have tried to get them to come out and remove the system so I can go with an alternative (Ring and SimpliSafe are both less than 1/2 the cost with no contract for a comparable, actually better, more user friendly system) I end up waiting on hold for 30 minutes to an hour, or more and bounced from one department to another. Now they are telling me that I have to pay them $800+ if I terminate the contract early. Save yourself the frustration and DON'T USE ADT!!!!! read more
