Had one of the sales managers by the name of Dan lynch try to sell me a ADT security system in the green valley ranch area. Told him several times I was not interested. Dan was pushy and insulting during the conversation. Then he proceeded to steal my security sign out of the front yard when it had come with the house that I had purchased. It was very disrespectful and immature as a "sales manager". read more

Mark and Jason are professional, informative and friendly during our consultation and installation process.

A copy of the letter I wrote to ADT: I am not a happy customer. We signed up for the "deal" of the free installation plus the monitoring for $46 per month. Which means the installation was amortized over the life of our commitment. When the technician came we told him we already had a system installed and we just wanted him to activate it. Without any further consultation, he completely to re out the existing system which covered all the doors and window and installed the ADT system on 4 doors. Then he told us what an inadequate system we had and it would cost $4000.00 to do it right. I declined and said I would stay with what we agreed to. He was visibly unhappy with that and told us we could do a partial job for $3000.00. I said I wanted to stay with what we agreed to do. He huffed and puffed and said, OK, I could have the $1000.00 deal. I told him no, we would stay with what we had ordered. He was most unpleasant and short with us, had us sign the papers and left. The system was faulty and chirped all the time. We had a service guy come out who was very personable and amazed at the damage the first guy had done. It took him 4 hours working on the system to declare it fixed. It wasn't. We have never been able to use it, because it gives false positive alarms all the time. When we did set it and leave home, we got a security call almost immediately. But because we were not at home, we could not verify there was a problem. We were warned within an inch of our lives about the dire consequences of having the police come when there was no break in and were we sure we wanted to alert them. We said no because we know the system chirps randomly and it was likely there was no problem. So now what are we getting for our money? Nothing! When we have called all they can tell us is we have a contract and tough luck. Do we want another repairman? So now the kicker - you raised our rates in the middle of the contract!!!! How dare you raise the rate after slapping us around with the YOU HAVE A CONTRACT every time we call. Enclosed is the latest bill you have sent us. We will not honor it because it is at a rate other than the contract agreement. Send us a bill for what you think we owe you to terminate our relationship, telling us how you computed it, and we will consider our remittance. Make sure you adjust it for recent overcharges when our bill was auto pay on our credit card. read more

ADT has gotten too big for any sort of quality control. I have just changed companies after decades of service from them. This was the last straw I recently found out that we are paying about $10.00 a month more than everyone else I know for ADT's alarm services. I talked to one family who has even more security coverage than us due to their many windows, and when they were thinking about switching to another company, ADT's customer service department offered them many upgrades and lowered their price. However, when the technician arrived he was only prepared to provide 1/3 of the upgrades promised. It was during the week, so they were able to call the customer service person who had promised them the upgrades and get the work done. I called ADT and asked them about the price discrepancy, and they promised me the same price and same upgrades as the other families we talked to. The service person arrived on a Saturday, prepared to provide only 1/3 of the items promised by customer service. I was not able to reach the person who promised the upgrades, so the technician would not do the work promised because it wasn't on his work order. Therefore, we agreed it was best for him to leave. I never heard from ADT about the situation. For a security company to be dishonest is unacceptable to me. They promised me and others all the features they offer at a lower price, and then hope we all won't notice that the technician's orders only ask them to do a fraction of this. Even after this happened, they never bothered to call me. I have switched alarm companies and am writing about my experience to the better business bureau, Yelp, and many other locations. When a security company is dishonest and doesn't care, how can you trust them to provide security? read more

If I could give a negative review, I would do so. I signed up for ADT service in November - it is now February. 3 months and I already despise this company. I received a call a few weeks ago (that I wasn't able to answer). Well, I got home to a keypad that had a weird message and had just been disable. So, the representative did not even speak with me personally and the alarm was disabled. I guess they knew that no one had broken into my home?? The salesman that initially signed up our service pretty much did an upsell. He also said that if I'm unhappy with the service then I could call within 6 months and get out of the contract. He said I will have to fight it but ADT will let me out. I called customer service and spoke with the most unprofessional and disrespectful gentleman. He would NOT transfer me to a supervisor and kept twisting my words to make me sound wrong and pretty much crazy. I advised him of the situation and that I don't feel safe. He kept offering a chance for me to cancel with 75% owed. I am three months in - I just want to cancel! No way. He then offered a technician to come out. In which I responded with, how is this technician going to prevent you guys from disabling my alarm without speaking to me?? I will think it over and probably take the $1100 hit to get out of the contract and just get away from this company. It may sound good at first but I do not recommend. Find a better security company. read more

Notice the boiler plate responses from adt on every bad experience? These guys are SO bad I don't know how they are still in business. I had the service for less than a year and it is a continuous battle to even get the billing right.....much less incorrect installation of the system. Four installers later it works....(I think) as it hasn't been tested but not before get this...an installer told me it wasn't working because I didn't have a phone plugged in and I have to go buy one. Then the bill goes up and they denied they had a plan with my pricing....when I pressed it they agreed there WAS a plan such as mine but it shouldn't have been sold. WHAT????And yes they do point the finger back and forth from defender to adt and no one takes responsibility. As others have said before me....they are a MAJOR SCAM! read more

terrible customer service. systems that go down constantly. techs that don't show up when they are supposed to

Pretty bad product overall. Here is the story. We signed a year contract which we felt was okay. Got the pulse, which is a very weak app. Not intuitive, clunky, half-baked. Then the problems with the system started. Middle of the night it made some strange noises. Showed "long range radio failure". Disconnected it and went to bed. Next morning called they told me it was not transmitting for some reason. So exposed. The service call was 1 week, so exposed for 1 week. They replaced the radio and charged a service fee of about 50 bucks. Okay fine. 1 week later the same noise happened before bed. Called and did troubleshooting, same problem. I asked how long it would take to get service. Another 5 days. I just cancelled since I did not want to be exposed. Ended up buying a system at Lowes so we would at least be covered. I have 2 small kids. Then I was assessed $1000 because I broke my contract. Okay, I can dispute this right? No. I called a complex set of phone numbers and spent 2 days trying to figure out what I needed to do. Write an email to corporate. I was given an email address and was told good luck. It has been a month. I even called our salesperson Chris and said to "see if you can find the legal department". Appalling. Opinion: they don't care about us, they are a very large company that bases their revenue on volume of customers nationwide. Family of 4 that just wanted security, and now we are out about 2000 bucks overall. Do not sign up, there are better options out there. read more

I arranged with the local office to pay off my ADT contract early, and paid the remainder of the contract as they stipulated. However, their main billing office continued to sweep monthly payments out of my bank account for three more months! Then when I finally got them to STOP taking money out of my account, it took another THREE months and the Better Business Bureau to get the refund of the 3 payments they should not have taken in the first place. ONE LOUSY COMPANY. BEWARE! read more

Honestly if there was a 0 star I would give it. ADT is the worst security company! My house was broken into and when the alarm went off I was at work. ADT called me and left me a message, this door is open and now another door is open. Then they called my mom and she said call the police and she would come over. Well my neighbor called the police 6 minutes before they ever called the police. And they called after the robbery took place because it was a Sunday morning and they thought we were home. The response of ADT was "my mom said not to call the police" They were very rude, it took several phone calls and a letter to the BBB to get a response. In the end they said they were not responsible for the losses. I have heard other horror stories from this company and they have lost several of my friends and families business. I will never use ADT again! read more

Hidden fees everywhere! Do some research and find out for yourself. They will lie, steal, and cheat their way into your home and wallet. Also, if your alarm goes off, they will NOT call 911 right away. Regardless of how life threatening your situation is. To top it all off, they told me if I did not sign the 1 year contract (after he installed everything) I would be charged an installation and cancellation fee. Its 1 year later, and come to find out it is a 3 year contract that will cost me over $500 to cancel! Be informed, educated, careful, and cautious please. Good luck! read more

Adt makes you sign a three year contract. If you move and want to transfer service on your existing account they cancel the account and make you sign another 3 year contract. If you are elderly, on a fixed income. Or otherwise no longer need the service. They will do nothing for you to cancel the contract. They like to take advantage of older people and take their money.. I would never use ADT or their services. I called for my father and yet they are unwilling to help in any way. ADT only wants money and not to help in any way. read more

My alarm went offline for over 72 hours and I called them to tell them that the alarm was offline and they told me everything looks great I said that's impossible the system was removed and VIVINT was installed.... there was an awkward silence and I said yeah lets cancel that service and to top it off they want to charge me 300 in early termination fees when they cannot track a home invasion!!!! newsflash that does not make you a security service I could be dead right now and ADT thinks everything is fine. GO VIVINT they came in and redid the entire house I open a window and I am called immediately that my friends is home protection. That mediocre service ADT offers is a joke. read more

If I could give no stars at all I would! We have had ADT for several years and we called to cancel our service. The rep asked why we were cancelling and I said because of cost. He said if you get a discount currently on your homeowners for security you will now lose that discount for not having an alarm service. I mentioned that we hired a new company. The rep asked the name of the new company and I politely declined to supply the name. He demanded to know why I woudn't supply the name of the new company. He said if I didn't supply the name of the new company than I would have to cancel my policy in writing and that if I did supply the name of the company than they would allow mw to cancel service over the phone. Then he attempted to bully me by saying "no one had ever refused to give him the name of the new company, or a reason for not providing the name. I said "I'm sorry this conversation is ended, I don't want to argue with you." and I hung up. The rep had the audacity to call me back to continue the argument with me! This company is extremely unprofessional! I have also filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office in Massachusetts. read more

All fine during our 2 year contract..... until I cancelled... let the drama and collection calls begin! ADT needs to hire employee's who will be honest and not just read a script. I was told they never received the letter of cancellation in August 2016, various (too many to go into) other lies. I have to call my credit company to ban ADT from taking payments they were not due! 3 collection agencies later, and ALL 3 told me they hear the same thing over and over from former ADT customers! I called again today... Mike was polite but could not help. requested a manager 2 times before he agreed. I held for one, too long of a wait, he stated a manager would call me back in 24 -48 hours. Must say I was happy within 15 minutes Tyler called me. He confirmed they DID receive my cancellation letter on June 3rd.. SHOCK! He is the first one to advise even though I fulfilled my 2 year contract, they have a 30 day cancellation notice! when asked when they stopped monitoring he said July, 26th,,, UM WHY, when they received the cancellation notice over 30 days prior???? Good question..... Still had to pay half of an amount I DO NOT OWE to move on in life. I will NEVER have any dealing with ADT and will advise everyone I know to NOT do business with them. 11 months later I can finally put this off my mind and stop getting collection calls.. big clue is THREE collection agencies... I suppose that soon ADT will run through all the agencies and no one will collect for faulty claims! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ADT!!! read more

A bad experience from the start. The installer was overtaking an old system which was wired through the phone line...since bypassing it would be an inconvenience, he simply cut the line, killing my phone and internet service. Thankfully CenturyLink came out and rerouted it at no charge. A week later my neighbor called to tell me that the fire department, sheriff and an ambulance were in my front yard. An installer was testing a new system and had my account pulled up, which sent all three emergency services to my house. A few months later the device on the back door malfunctioned, triggering the alarm several times a day which sent me rushing home until we figured out what was going on. When I asked ADT to replace the bad device, they said their equipment was under warranty for only 90 days and I would have to pay to have it replaced at the rate of $125/hr. Their equipment is as abysmal as their service. As soon as my contract is up I'm switching to Xfinity monitoring. read more
