I had been holding off writing this review for a while now but I just want to make sure that no one…read moreelse has the same experience as me. A few people had recommended Metro to me as being a cheap and cheerful place to get nails and hair etc done. I thought I would give it a go for a wedding I had at the end of July - bad idea! I had went on to their Facebook page first - the business had uploaded photos of up-styles but don't be fooled thinking these hair styles that were done in their salon, they must have been pictures they found on google. I went for a VIP package which included gel polish on fingers and toes, spray tan, make-up and up-style for £50. The girl that done my nails did not file or prep my nails - she took the old gel off and reapplied the new gel. I don't think she put on a bottom coat or top coat on my nails - I could honestly have done a better job myself and the nails that were she removed (that were on for almost a month) looked better than the nails that she done. The spray tan was really dark so I washed it off when I got home - thank god I did because I would have been umpa lumpa orange. The tan was terrible at my wrists and hands. I am not sure if the girl that done my hair was even qualified as a hair dresser. I showed the girl a picture of a simple up-style that I found online. I can't even describe how bad my hair looked when I left - my hair was flat to my head and had so much hair spray on it had went hard and stiff. I had to pull the hair grips out on the way home and redo my hair myself. I wasn't overly fussed on the make-up either. The girl had applied false eyelashes but there was a gap between my own eyelashes and the fake eyelashes so these had to be pulled off. All-in-all a terrible experience in Metro - I would definitely not recommend this salon.

Happy to be able to get brows waxed without an appointment. Cheap and cheerful if you need brows…read moredone in a hurry

This is a very bright and friendly beauty salon which can be found out the back of Castle court…read more The building itself is quite big for a beauty salon and bright pink so you can't miss it. They offer free consultations and are stockists of all the usual brands of spray tan such as Fake Bake, He-Shi and Sun FX. Sun FX would be my brand of choice in this salon - they gave me a really nice even tan with no appointment and no streaks for only £15. As well as offering all the usual services such as facials ad nails they also have semi permanent make up and a male grooming service. The semi permanent make up is £295 for the make up and a revisit and a top up - I personally would not be a fan of this but I have heard people say they do a really good job! I think this is a great place to nip in for a bit of beauty treatment if you are in the center of town - it is good value for money, friendly and convenient. Plus, I love the fact that they advertise all their special offers on the front window so you know what to ask for and how much it will be before you even go into the shop.

However, the quality of my wax has never been great. I've seen several different beauticians, the first girl left my bikini area bruised after every wax I had with her and the rest normally left large patches of hair. I been waxing for 10 years now and know that 6-8 weeks is the right amount of time to leave between my waxes to get the best results. Despite this at my last appointment my hairs were just broken rather than removed. There were also several large patches of hair that had been missed on my legs and part of my bikini area. Including both my knees, ankles and feet. At £45 each visit I'd expect better quality, for this reason I've decided to go else where.
