Adolfo Camarillo High School is pretty good! It's a California Distinguished School so they take education very seriously. Most of the teachers love teaching and you can see it in their eyes. My favorite class that I've ever taken was Physiology. I took it in junior year - I'm now a senior - and I went in the class every day wondering what we were going to do next. The teacher really shows his interest in the subject; therefore, he makes the class fun and entertaining. Anyways, I would change the amount of ACs in the classes. The only classes that have them are the portables, and unfortunately, I don't have any classes in the portables. It makes it very hot in the classrooms. Well, it's not like you have a lot of options, but I'll just let you know that my child, a straight A student all four years, realized only about three months before he was due to graduate that he didn't have the proper classes because his counselor, Mr. Hugo Tapia didn't schedule him properly so at the very last minute, my student had to take an art class from Ventura College, which I had to pay out-of-pocket for. This man has one job and it's to schedule the students that he is assigned the classes they need to graduate. If he is overworked because he has too many students then he either needs to get a different job or he needs to contact the superintendent or the district or the county or the state to get him more people to help him. I should not have to pay for a college course for a student graduating with honors and a seal of biliteracy, to take a class in order to graduate high school because his counselor, of four years dropped the ball. I will say that the principal and the assistant principal do take concerns about teachers very seriously and are very helpful in resolving any problems. Lori Pristera, screwed up three honor roll students extra credit scavenger hunt by forcing them, who were not even her students to get some things from her car and carry them to her class. Three honorable students had finished their test long before the rest of the class, and they were offered an extra credit project by doing a scavenger hunt. Lori Pristera asked them what they were doing, they explained and showed their hall pass and she said she needed some things clear to her classroom. They said they really wanted the extra credit and she told them absolutely not. So all three students had to go back and have nothing to show for their 20 minute absence. Thankfully, the teacher believed them because they were all great students, but I thought it was pretty horrible that in a senior year she would take away an opportunity to raise their grade even higher. I thought it was selfish, and disrespectful. Not to mention very arrogant. I am incredibly grateful my student never had to be a student of hers. An absolute special shout out the following teachers, they made my child's years at the school, filled with proper education, respect, and understanding. My student absolutely loved these teachers and has nothing but extreme respect for them... Mr. Ryan, Mrs. Klemman, Mr. Fiacco, Mr. Stolte, and Mr. Quinn were all excellent teachers. Mr. Hernandez and Mr. Montijo were also great teachers who cared a lot about their students and sought to connect with them on a personal level and really wanted their students to succeed. i moved here not long ago and this whole time i've struggled with my classes and these teachers. i used to be an amazing student while i lived in New York (military family) i was told the curriculum was easier and i would adapt fast. i was put in a class that was the same level as my previous school or so i thought and i had to catch up due to missing school inbetween the move i did not recieve ANY assistance for that class and i ended up failing it. i was also in a gym class with a teacher who was extremely rude and did not give a single care in the world when i asked for help when i started throwing up and almost blacked out! thanks for your help grafenstein! i was given an incomplete for the class because i could not satisfy her. instead of giving me resources for my failed classes i was put in a class that was way to easy the next semester and i was not told until the end of the year that i had 20 MATH ASSIGNMENTS they gave me without even notifying me once and told me i had to go to summer school. i had no clue who this other teacher was, what math they were doing, or when or where they assigned these tasks. i was just pulled out of class and told to finish all these assignments with A VERY LARGE AMOUNT OF WORK for me to finish in a MOONTTHH...? they screwed me over so many times the staff is low IQ and does not know how to fix schedules or manage their time. they are never properly assigning classes or notifying students when things change. they are also never even in their offices or doing their jobs. so many horrible teachers do things that get overlooked and it's disturbing. the lack of effort put in is just depressing and out of the 7 schools i have gone to this is genuinely one of the worstttt i have ever attended. there are hardly any benefits except for the occasional good food (pizza sticks n burritos) and some teachers like Mr. Cartagena, Mr. Green, Mr Anderson, Mrs. Davis, Mr. Myers, and that's it. the math department is lacking everythingg they don't know how to teach students and just pull random techniques out their ass they don't have any respect for any students and will probably call you retarded right to your face if their expressionless and cunty facial expression doesn't already give that away. 100% do not recommend please go anywhere but here. they can't even use their money properly and half of the time the school is on fire, leaking, or without power. not to mention if your struggling with weather or other things they will try their hardest to keep you from leaving. this is the last school and place your child should go and pray they don't pass away in this ratchet school. read more

The absolute worst school in the county. Even the teachers seem to be over it. And do not bother with any of the sports programs. Maybe football but absolutely stay away from baseball. It absolutely is the worst. They brought in an ex MLB player to head coach and it's been a joke. We finally pulled out our son out because we could see the writing on the wall. We moved to Thousand Oaks high school, and couldn't be happier. Think twice about attending the school. Ask questions and be informed. read more

I graduated in 2009 (ten years have past but I'm sure it's the same). I was bullied at this school up until Junior High. The principal didn't do much about it. Girls wore short skirts but I was told to zip up my jacket because I was showing cleavage. They also implemented a "no sports caps" policy meaning you were only allowed to wear hats without sports teams (I guess there was a fight over sports)? I didn't learn a ton here. I wanted to take an Auto Body class but they cancelled it and I ended up taking a videography class instead. Most useful classes (home ec, social development, etc) are limited. After graduating, I've been relying heavily on YouTube and Google because this school doesn't teach you meaningful life lessons. Also, I was mocked in class for my yearbook quote by the teacher (the one running the yearbook class). And don't forget being patted down before graduation because the previous year brought beach balls. read more

I remember doing Saturday work detail (aka Saturday detention) for a stupid prank I pulled while we were in the computer lab one day. I remember carrying around a sack of flour for two weeks for child development. I remember the food fights that happened in the cafeteria therefore closing it for a week like we were prisoners. I remember home economics, making good food almost daily. Since I've graduated in '96 (yes, I'm old), I've seen old high school mates around town and it's just a reminder of simpler days. I love ACHS, second generation to go there. I'm not as old as Wes (just kidding hehe) it has been 8 years since I've been to ACHS...but it feels like yesterday! The school seemed to be falling apart when I was going there, hopefully they have made the much needed improvments to keep the school from falling a part. There were many teachers that truly inspired me to do better and work hard...overall it was good times. I think my favorite times were the football games, those were so much fun. read more

Our worst interaction with school Principal Mr. Labelle, Athletic Director Ms. Perez and coaches. No compassion for students nor parents. No wonder there had been multiple fights between students and students and staff in the recent months. And no wonder children struggles these days. Never my husband had a confrontation with a coach since my son started playing sports since 4 yo. And never has my son quit a team. He is now almost 15 and always needs to be challenged as most kids should be. Straight A's student, played in baseball state championship, started PGA Junior golf at 9 yo in an invitation only team and competed in multiple USA Kids tournaments. But Coach Ruiz his head coach at Camarillo High has the nerve to tell us we need to learn to parent our child. Our son enjoyed the baseball team at the beginning, it was his second family. I was happy he finally found something where he is active and socializing since we moved here 18 months ago (military family) and Covid restrictions. Then the new coaches arrived, Mr. Ruiz and Mr. Barlow shows up right before the season stated and it went downhill from there. My son quit the team last week and we met the principal and athletic director but that was a waste of time. They saw a quick video clip of my husband yelling at the coaches after finding out the coaches is lying to my son and even made him more infuriated when he was told he needed to learn how to be a parent. We discussed the coaching or lack of.... Coach saying 'this team suck', money $90+ stolen out of my son's bag when he first started and we brought it up to the coaches and nothing was done then 1 month later another freshman had his AirPods stolen from his bag. Coaches said it can't be 'their' seniors it has to be a freshman and in fact named one kid who they don't work with and always in the dug out during practice and games. Little do they know we know this kid my son went to elementary school with him and would give him the money to replace it. The principal is okay that a child gets kicked out of a team for saying 'this is a waste of my time' but if a coach says a player is the laziest they've ever seen - it's an opinion. The head coach said 'this team suck' and will probably not get kicked out of the team. The athletic director does not care.... rolled her eyes the entire time, chuckled and supports the actions of the coaches that we had seen as a safety issues. It's okay the bat goes over the fence next to the major highway... she said... 'we get things over there all the time'. And she wouldn't pull out a child in the middle of the game after we had told them our son had played catcher every game now he has a sore shoulder and we were worried his injured growth plate was happening again. My son could barely throw to second and third which is unlike him.... but he has been icing his shoulder and taking ibuprofen before games. When my husband saw my son struggling he finally yelled out to take the catcher out. Other issues was brought up BUT at the end of the day THEY DON'T CARE. We the parents are the issue. Beautiful campus. Was just there for the 2008 graduation and it was pretty short and sweet for the number of kids called up. My only complaint was seating. They have bleachers on both sides of the football field, but they had the stage facing the home side of the bleachers and the visitors side wasn't even in use. they should of had the stage under one of the goalposts so both sides could have seen what what going on. Instead, I sat on a bunch of ice plant on a hillside with ants crawling up my pant legs. read more
