A year of suffering and a hospitalization had not led me to a solution or to the cause of my pain and rapid loss of mobility. After a series of weekly visits, I was guided back to normalcy. Some tips during treatment keep me on course. I will return for occasional visits as needed. Thank you, Dr. Barton, for your guidance, wisdom and empathy. I am 76 and I want to avoid surgery whenever I can and take care of my body.

There's a kind of warm energy buzzing through it. When I walked in, a few staff members immediately checked in with me--offered help, asked if I needed anything, and seemed like they meant it. It's the kind of place where you don't feel like an inconvenience for just... being there. Dr. Barton himself? Warm, sharp, unhurried. He asked specific questions, zero judgment, no rush--just actual conversation. You can tell he likes his job and takes it seriously. Also? He's a lot more personable than you'd expect from someone who's double-board-certified in neurology and clinical neurophysiology. (Which sounds a bit like a Marvel super-scientist resume, but I digress). ‍‍ Bottom line: if you're looking for a doctor who listens, thinks out loud with you, respects your time, and actually gives a damn--Dr. Barton checks every box, and then some.

This doctor is self righteous, arrogant and condescending. He is dismissive and aggressive. if you can't be crammed neatly into a diagnostic code with a corresponding drug, you are gaslit and treated with disdain for trying to help yourself. Doctors at Cedar Sinai are closed minded and 20 years behind on the current research. They hang on to their dusty, antiquated bureaucracy for dear life because of the money they paid for their precious education and patients suffer the consequences. This is precisely why concierge medicine is on the rise and trust in the old guard is bottoming out. AI is coming for your job sooner than you realize. And with a better bedside manner to boot. Get ready Dr. Benmoshe. Your way of practicing medicine is going extinct and I can't wait for you to reap what you sow. if you would like further details regarding my interactions with this physician, feel free to message me.

This review is not for the doctor but for the multiple communications with his support team. A…read moredoctor may think this unfair but when your care team is sub par it does reflect negatively on the doctor. Sometimes unknown to them and sometimes because they do not care. I am not sure where it falls in here. I have phoned at least four times in the last few years. I had an acoustic tumor that grew aggressively (not a norm for this type of tumor) into the brain stem. I wanted to get another opinion because I have had 'inconclusive' on the final reads (whether there was additional growth) and I wanted to make sure I did not get into another life-threatening situation (my first surgery was emergency with a 2% chance of survival which I thankfully survived). I would get sent to the voice mail of his nurse at which time I would get a follow up weeks later. Cut to now a few years since I phoned and got the 'inconclusive' read on my last MRI (with and without contrast) but now with a possible sign of growth so, again, I phoned Dr. Kellys' office only to be told he does not deal with Schwannomas. I was never informed of this in prior communications with the office (which is odd). I always stated what type of tumor I had and reports and scans were sent. Then his nurse said she was forwarding my information to another doctor that deals with the aforementioned type of tumor. I never heard from them. Then, maybe three months later (or more) I got a call from someone that did not say their name (just stated Pacific Neurosurgery) and called from a private number. Just to reiterate, this is now 1/3 of a year later. Buyer beware.

She took a look at my MRI when still at USC and said definitely I had MS and it was moderate in severity. Dr. B does not mess around, she will treat you with the best option available. I was placed on Tsyabri after she asked if I wanted to have an aggressive treatment. I was on that for a few years but had to stop due to complications that I will not go into... I can tell you that I trust her, I like her, she is kind, and patient, and it has been rough at times, I am not always an easy patient. Now I am on mavenclad, Glucotropin IM, and immunoglobulin (subcutaneous self-administered). I have not had to pay a dime for all three of these VERY expensive meds. I GREATLY appreciate Dr. Berkovich and her staff. In the nearly 10 years of treatment there were two periods when she was unavailable when I needed help, but these were explained and totally understandable, and the issues were addressed. I think you might see a comment from a recent yelper here that was caught in once of those rare periods. I once got a second opinion in an emergency from a top neurologist at cedars and really disliked it. I love Dr. B and her staff and trust them with my care and feel safe with her... you will be lucky to be accepted into her very busy practice. The only downsides are that it can sometimes be hard to get an appointment and a new patient should know that the office does not generally offer emergency treatments, so if that is you, you might need additional back up for those.
