Went here last night for dinner. Not sure how well versed in English they are as I can get by on speaking Portuguese in restaurants. The food was great! We started with the salada de tomate (tomato and onion salad), azeitonas (olives) and rissois de camarao (shrimp pastry). The shrimp pastries were wonderful! I always get some sort of salad and olives when we are in Portugal, it's just a light fair to enjoy prior to the meal. I order the franginho frito (fried chicken) with arroz de tomate (tomato rice) both of which I thoroughly enjoyed as well. My other half ordered the iscas de figado (liver with bacon) and batata cozido (boiled potato). She enjoyed them, I did like the potatoes as I didn't grow up with boiled potatoes so they hold a special place in my heart here. I'm not a fan of liver however. We also had espressos afterward, asking for cafe or cafe normale and that is an espresso in this region. We also tried some desserts, I had the leite creme which is Portuguese creme burlee and she had the babas de camelo which is essentially a caramel mousse with almond adorning the top. I much liked the caramel one over my leite creme as mine was just too cold in the bottom. I like my creme brûlées fresh and warm thoroughout. The babas de camelo tastes more of butterscotch than caramel in my opinion and I love butterscotch pudding so it was a hit! read more
