Let's talk about vehicle stickers…read more I was not aware of this phenomenon until I moved to Illinois. I was not aware that many suburbs had them until I moved to Wood Dale. THOSE stickers are actual stickers. They are an enormous pain to get off. It took me over an hour to scrape, peel, razor and spray my previous two off. So enter Lombard. You know what Lombard's vehicle stickers are? Vinyl cling. No adhesive, no mess. BRILLIANT. I love it. It's such a small thing, and yet, I am so grateful. For I know as long as we live in Lombard, I will not have to peel and scrape endless stickers off my windshield each year. (Oh, and the police and public works departments are pretty helpful, as previously noted. They listen to my suggestions. They take my stolen GPS report without calling me an idiot. They CALL me to explain why there's no crosswalk at Highland and Majestic. Rock and roll.)

Lombard sucks. I'm a caregiver and I just got a ticket for parking in front of my client's house. I…read morewent to the police station to see if they could do something about it. They said there was nothing they could do. There's a two-hour parking limit on the street, but I work 9 hours a day. With all the tax money that Lombard charges, they can't provide a basic permit for my car so I can take care of a resident of this town. I live in Cicero, and not only Cicero but Berwyn and Stickney provide permits for home care services.

Q: So, where do you live? A: Wood Dale…read moreQ: Uhh, where's that? A: We're that little town sandwiched between Bensenville and Itasca. This is a review on how Wood Dale actually works. (Before I start, I was a Chicago homeowner for 26 years on the northwest side. My expectations for ANY kind of city services were established by living in the 36th ward, the aldermanic feudal domain of William J.P. Banks. If anything needed to be fixed; street lights, backed up street sewer, broken curbs, it took several phone calls and weeks and often months to get any action.) Every experience I have had with the Wood Dale municipality has been terrific! Obtaining permits, buying vehicle stickers, getting new garbage cans - it's all a snap in Wood Dale. Let me tell you a quick story. A couple of years ago, I noticed the street light outside our home was out. I called on Monday morning and reported it. I happened to be on vacation that week and the very next day, I see a truck pull up and the worker gets in the basket and hoists himself up to change the light. I yell out, "Oh MY God - I don't believe it!" My wife comes running into the room thinking I had a heart attack, "What's wrong". I just said, "Look!" I was amazed. This year, I noticed a worker working a few houses down. I asked him what's the best way to request to have parkway trees trimmed. He said, "Oh just give the municipal works department a call and they will take down your information." I promptly forgot about it but 3 days later came home to find the parkway trees had been trimmed. Again...Amazing! Wood Dale - The REAL city that works.

Can not get a straight answer from anyone at city hall. the planner, Andrew, is ignorant because he tells me that because I'm the owner, I have to dig up my grass to find out how deep the gravel is . I'm a 74 year old disabled man; how am I suppose to do this?
