Elk Grove Village is a Self Rule Government that apparently (by reading other people's comments who have lived here for years) does as it wishes. The fire department employees are great people. The police department has nice people also, but does some underhanded hiding to snag speeders such as parking in the middle of the road at night with their lights off. I called them out on this and I was told it's legal and that is how they make money. Sure it's legal. Shaking my head. There is a great industrial park where a Freedom of Information Act should be filed as to how much tax dollars are coming into this village for there is not one park bench found except for along Devon Avenue where they have some sculptured Elk. Devon is not very close to residential areas. The residents have pointed out to me the government has offered land development contracts to friends out of the area (no proof of any friendship). They have torn down a bowling alley people used. Restaurants have closed up due to daydreaming landlords of property value. The Jewel/Osco during the last snowstorm let the people's feet melt the ice and snow. The manager of course blamed the landlord. The hospital, is a whole other story in itself. The people are nice for the most part. They are NOT heroes because they worked during the pandemic. A hero has a different meaning than doing your job. This last time I was there in the emergency room with terrible stabbing pains in my back, the nurse wheeled me into a small intake room and whacked the side of the chair into the doorway. Of course she couldn't jump back up because there was barely any room for her to turn around. She was TERRIFIED, howling and scratching trying to get free. I also brought up inquiring about if the village received any of the $5 million from Dupage county earmarked for Park districts and fire departments. I was told no regarding park districts because we dont have one. This was abolished by the previous administration. We have 2 fire districts and couldn't get an answer to their portion. They are over priced and it is allowed simply because annual fire alarm inspections and repairs are…read moremandated by the Naperville Fire Dept for condo buildings resulting in Total Fire & Safety being a monopoly and charging whatever amount they want. Year after year they fail to upload the annual fire alarm inspection report to Brycer Compliance Engine which provides the inspection report to the Naperville Fire Dept. Condo building inspections are done every October and there is an additional fee to send an email to Brycer with inspection report. Every year, at end of November, Condo Association gets calls from City of Naperville stating they have not received the inspection report. Condo Association has to call Total Fire & Safety to have them send it. Again every year, at end of December, just like today, Condo Association gets another call from City of Naperville, and now this year from a contract/attorney office to get the inspection reports sent in ASAP or face fines. I called Total Fire & Safety and got attitude and talked over. The Condo Association has looked into changing inspection companies, but they are all over priced which enforces the monopoly of overpriced service for these types of business.

I know these certification courses can drag on forever - watching videos, role playing, etc., but he makes it so fun by integrating stories and little acronyms/rhymes to make concepts stick. Also, he's a paramedic so he has tons of personal experience and really knows his stuff. Overall, solid people, solid place. If you want to be certified in CPR, ACLS, etc., definitely do it at CET with Jim & I promise it will be worthwhile!!
