This airport is on the smaller side. Only Southwest and Delta fly through here, but being on the smaller end, made it easy to get to your gate and to get to baggage claim quickly. But don't let the smaller size make you think it doesn't have much. My husband was particularly impressed with the Whataburger kiosk right past security. You can order there and then pick up when you get to Whataburger further down the concourse. DAL also had some live entertainment as well as ample other food and gift options. Our flights were relatively on time; security went fast; and the bathrooms were also clean. It checks all the boxes!

The terminal was filled with a variety of food options. There were some upscale restaurants where you could sit down and enjoy your meal, while others offered quick grab-and-go options that were still delicious. One of the great features of the airport is the presence of outlets on the seats, allowing you to charge your phone before boarding your flight. As a major hub and the home of Southwest Airlines, Dallas Love Field Airport is a busy place. However, there's one thing that could be improved: the water fountains and water refill station. They need a new filter, or perhaps the water quality in Dallas isn't as good as in the Bay Area, where we have exceptional water. I was disappointed with the taste of the water and felt it was overpriced for a regular 8-ounce bottle.

Let me begin by saying that I have chosen Legacy Travel before. I had a restful babymoon with my…read morehusband years ago when we relaxed in Mexico. So I thought I would call on Legacy again for a special occasion: my [redacted, LOL!] birthday. Iceland was on my bucket list. I dreamed to witness the Northern Lights. Our agent, Audrey, talked with us to get our vibe for the trip and then came up with an itinerary. We were initially so excited to go! But then... I was skeptical about aspects of my trip to Iceland: What would the weather be (would we even make it out of Dallas)?Would I be able to sleep soundly in the middle of Reykjavik? How would I be received as a Black woman?Would I be able to eat without going bankrupt? Would I even see the Northern Lights? I had begun to seriously doubt my commitment to turning [redacted] in the land of fire and ice. When we were able to escape from DFW despite the threat of ice storms and 13-degree weather, I started to join Audrey in her confidence that all would be well. For Black women like me who are concerned with how their Black bodies will be treated in Iceland: I felt safe and even cared for. I think racism is everywhere, but I felt quite a reprieve there, and I was neither gawked at nor shunned. Just engaged with as a fellow human. Since favor ain't fair, the sun followed me the entire time in Iceland and it was far warmer than home. Even when it was cloudy and misty with cold rain, I witnessed the Northern Lights in all their glory. Our spartan yet spotless hotel was nestled in the heart of the very walkable city of Reykjavik, and the included breakfast shielded our wallets from further damage (because food in Iceland IS absolutely expensive--but soooo good. I will dream of the pastries from Sandholt and the homey seafood dishes at Messinn and Mar).Audrey worked with us so that we had times of rest and exploration of the city, and times of excursion. We witnessed the Northern Lights and I cried. It was spectacular. Everything I had hoped for. We went to the Blue Lagoon for my birthday, which was fascinating and relaxing. It was busy, but not overcrowded. As a stretch, I requested we go snowmobiling and visit an ice cave (if I could have a do-over, I would have opted to do this at the Golden Circle, but this was still cool). IT WAS EXHILARATING! What a privilege to zoom through the beautiful desolation of a harsh tundra that, if left to my own devices, would absolutely kill me. It was exciting, humbling, enlivening. My cousin went on the trip with my husband and I because she's my bestie, and we also scheduled time at our sister-hotel's spa (Center Hotel Grandi) for a full body massage, and post snowmobiling, decided to relax at Sky Lagoon for their Ritual, and had the distinct pleasure of soaking in warm waters as the flurries of the evening landed delicately on our lashes. Audrey's work made our trip unforgettable in the best way. I LOVED IT. The term that keeps coming up for me is "blessed." It was a blessed trip. Audrey's work and attention set the environment for a life-giving travel experience. My birthday was so memorable. We are in love with Iceland.

She did all the tedious work and gave us a short, simple, bulleted to-do list of what we needed to do on our end. LOVED THAT! Mackenzie was punctual about sending reminders, keeping us updated, and even sent me a reminder to check in to our flight (bride brain to the max!). Mackenzie was readily available whenever I had questions and checked in on us on our travel days to make sure we were all set. We cannot wait to book all future vacations with Mackenzie Lowry at KristieLen Travel! The resort we decided on, Unico 20 87, was amazing! As soon as we got there we were greeted with a refreshing, non-alcoholic drink. I could not get enough of it! I had at minimum 5 a day (some with a splash of vodka ) They had candles for us to smell to select which scent we would like diffused in our room. So neat and loved this detail! When we were escorted to the room, they had his & her beach hats for us that we later took to the pool are and had personalized. Such a sweet souvenir that I will cherish forever. Arranging excursions and spa services was simple and quick! We told our local host what we wanted to do and how far we were willing to travel away from the resort and he brought back many choices. It was hard to choose! The food was absolutely delicious, both Reid and I can be picky eaters but they had SO many options. We ate at all 4 restaurants, the Mexican and Japanese restaurants were our favorites! The resort's app made it SO easy to request room service, look at all of the restaurant menus ahead of time, make reservations at the restaurants, and order room service. Room service was never longer that 20-30 minutes - loved that! We cannot wait to go back! Thank you so much for your recommendation, Mackenzie! Unico was the perfect spot for our honeymoon!

It is highly likely that the fare machines won't work - it's been about 50/50. The train is modern but the seats are hard. It tends to provide shelter for many homeless on occasion; I've never had an issue but there are usually some disconcerting folks aboard. If you have to transfer try not to do it at one of the downtown stops - they are sketchey at best. Even if you have to overshoot by a stop or 2 and double back you'll feel safer. It's a metro area public transportation system - there are worse. Just keep aware of your surroundings and don't travel late night.
