I had a good experience at The Adams Smile Center at first. Unfortunately, I felt the quality of care declined with time. I have switched to a new dental office after being a regular patient of Dr. Chaudhry for 4 years. To start on a positive note, the staff is very friendly (including front desk, hygienists, assistants, and both Dr. Chaudhry and Dr. Baha). I did Invisalign with Dr. Chaudhry and am very happy with the results. Dr. Chaudhry also recommended a Sonicare toothbrush which I love using and I notice a difference in my teeth and gums (less staining and gum inflammation). However, I will comment that my main concern is that both doctors are not very thorough in preventative care and Dr. Chaudhry's cleanings are very rushed. Since I stopped going to the Smile Center for routine exams, I have seen 3 new dentists. These dentists have all done a thorough examination of my teeth, gums, mouth, and jaw, including periodontal charting, TMJ assessment, oral cancer screening, and airway health analysis. These were included in routine exams and dental insurance covers them. I do not know why Dr. Chaudhry and Dr. Baha never provided these services in my routine cleanings. It is concerning to me because I had signs of gingivitis (4 mm pockets with bleeding on most teeth) and airway health issues such as restricted tongue movement and chronic mouth breathing, which played a huge role in some of the dental and gum issues I was experiencing. The cleanings also felt very rushed and inadequate. They would last 15-20 minutes, including quick scaling and polishing (usually no flossing). Because of this, I would still experience gum inflammation and tartar buildup on my bottom front teeth. Less than a year later, I had a cleaning at a new dental office that was very thorough (scaling and polishing that lasted 45-60 minutes). As a result, my gum tissue was no longer inflamed, my pockets shrank in size and I no longer experience noticeable tartar buildup. Finally, both Dr. Chaudhry and Dr. Baha recommended very unnecessary treatment, including drilling and filling 5 small incipient surfaces. After this, I saw other dentists for a second/third/fourth opinion and they recommended "watching" the spots and applied fluoride varnish. New xrays were taken a year later and these spots remineralized. I felt both Dr. Chaudhry and Dr. Baha had an apparent drill-and-fill approach that discourages patients (myself included) from feeling confident in their oral health because every time they go to the dentist, the dentist will find something new to treat despite the patient's best efforts. Dr. Baha assumed I was not flossing (I floss every day) without looking further into the airway health issues I was experiencing that were contributing to my oral health issues. I understand immediately treating extensive decay, but drilling/filling small spots rather than focusing on preventative care like effective fluoride varnish, thorough cleanings, periodontal charting and airway analysis, just seems ineffective in the long run. As a result, patients are left not fully educated on preventative care and feel very disheartened, leading to dental anxiety and poor confidence. These routine services would be very helpful since deep pockets and mouth breathing can contribute to several oral diseases like tooth decay and periodontitis. As a result I did not feel like my oral health was adequately cared for at the Adams Smile Center. I had to switch to a new dental provider in order to prioritize my dental and gum health, which has significantly improved thanks to the thorough cleaning and preventative care I am now receiving. I have been a patient of Dr. Chaudhry for 4 years and have spent over 5000$ on treatment, including Invisalign. To be a patient for this long and spend all this money and still receive inadequate care almost felt insulting. I urge Dr. Chaudhry and Dr. Baha to consider putting a strong emphasis on thorough preventative care as opposed to keeping patients in a drill-and-fill cycle because this will prevent so many health issues down the road. read more

Dr. Sultan Chaudhry is a great dentist and an overall great person. During my most recent appointment, he explained everything clearly and proceeded to perform multiple fillings with virtually no pain in about 30 minutes! I was back at work in less than an hour. I have been to many dentists over the past 15-20 years, Sultan is definitely the best one. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a dentist. read more

I was visiting from out of town and had terrible pain in one tooth. They were able to get me in next day and Dr. Chaudry was amazing! He saw the problem right away, recommended me to a specialist downstairs and then saw me again after to finish up so I could get everything done in one day. What? Review a dentist? Who would take the time right? Not me normally. I may review a restaurant or a hotel to avoid but never thought I would review a dentist.. I thought that they were all kind of the same.. Until we met Dr. Chaudhry at the Adams Smile Center. A very personal consultation to fond out how you want to be cared for and to set your expectations. A fun, pleasing staff and the latest in technology. Giant Flat Screen TV's in front of the dental chair so as the Doc explains things to you, he can point them out to you, right in front of you, on images of your own teeth.. not just a model. Just the other day he did a temp crown on my 15 year old daughter. She said it was actually a "pleasant" experience! A crown.. pleasant?? She said it was virtually pain free and since Dr. Chaudry explained everything before hand and then again step-by-step as he was doing the work, she knew exactly what to expect. Even though I consulted specialists, they wanted over $40,000 between the 2 of them. RIDICULOUS! I was referred to Dr. Chaudry and the Adams Smile Center by a friend. I asked for an early appointment and got one at 9 am this morning. As a new patient, I arrived at 8:50 to handle paperwork, etc. I was informed at 9:10 that the doctor was "stuck in traffic" and wouldn't be in "for another 20 minutes or so." At 9:10 on a Monday morning? In Sterling , VA? Where could he have been coming from that would have him delayed him until 9:30 or later? And what time was he planning to arrive for a 9:00 appointment? Perhaps there's a legitimate excuse, but the facts paint a bad picture. He lost my business. (On a side note, this all occurred right after I was asked to sign the form saying there would be a $65 charge if I cancelled an appointment less than two days in advance. Terrific team at Adams Smile Center. I had been a longtime patient of French Family Dentistry, and when the Frenches retired, I stayed on, figuring I'd give them a go for one cleaning, then decide whether to find another dentist. Two years and several procedures later, I'm still a happy customer. What was really surprising (and nice) is that Drs. Chaudhry and Baha do all the work themselves--no outsourcing the cleanings to the hygienists, then popping in for a 3 minute check at the end--they do everything from A to Z themselves, and spend time talking with you about preventive care and nutrition throughout. My only complaint from early on, which isn't an issue anymore, is that because the dentists do the work themselves and spend a lot of time with you, a routine cleaning can take over 1 hour. My first appointment with them, I wasn't crazy about that, because i was expecting to be in/out in 20-30 minutes (like I had been with the Frenches). But once I realized that's how they do it, and that they don't stack appointments every 15 minutes, and so HAVE the time to spend with you, I just plan accordingly, and relax knowing I don't have to rush out. read more

The whole staff is extremely professional and very knowledgable to begin with. They explain all options and Dr. Sultan is very good at working with people. My husband and I stayed with this practice after it was sold by French Family Dentistry. For many years, we've been happy with Dr. Baja and find him to be thorough, gentle and personable. He gets top marks. Unfortunately, I lost part of a filling the other day and was seen by Dr. Chaudhry instead. I'm astonished at his positive reviews because this was the absolute worst dental experience I've ever had. Although the staff had assured me there was time for the visit, I felt rushed. Dr. Chaudhry quickly recommended a ceramic cap which could be made there and applied within 2 hours. While this sounds great, I got the impression that speed and the ability to make the cap in the office were driving factors for this recommendation. Feeling the need to make a quick decision, I agreed to the procedure, but while waiting for numbing to take effect, I texted my husband and we both started researching materials for a back molar. It seemed that gold might be a better choice. When Dr. C checked on my status, I asked for (literally) 2 minutes more to finish considering material choices. At this, he began repeatedly asking me why I'd agreed to ceramic if I wasn't ready to proceed. I was taken aback by his reaction because I didn't think my request was unreasonable. I told him that it had just occurred to me to think further about alternatives, the problem had just happened, ceramic is new to me, I'm not a dentist, and really, I just wanted 2 minutes to think. Dr. C seemed obviously annoyed both by my request and the fact that I did not back down when he challenged me about it. He did not ask me why I was reconsidering the choice, allow me the time, or explain why ceramic was best for me. Instead he told me that his staff leaves at 7PM and he didn't want to keep them late! None of this felt right. I told him I felt pressured, which he forcefully denied. The conversation went on for way too long and felt inappropriate. Finally, I told him that it had already been much longer than the 2 minutes I'd asked for and he walked away for a few minutes. By this time I was actually shaking in reaction to his tone, body language, and attitude and I am not easily intimidated. Ultimately, he put in a temporary filling and told me to find someone else to do the work. When I told my husband about what had happened, he said that the one time he'd seen Dr. Chaudhry he had also felt rushed and thought he was trying to deal with too many patients at the same time. I have since seen another local dentist who actually has patience and was told I may not even need a cap. read more

I had to find a new dentist because my insurance changed. I went on the insurance company website looking to see which dentists were in network. I chose this practice and called to confirm that they are in network with my insurance. Whoever I spoke with on the phone assured me that yes, they are in network with the EPO plan that I have. So I scheduled new patient appointments for my husband and myself. Upon arriving at the office, when the front desk employee checked my benefits, I was informed that no, they don't take my insurance. Only the PPO, not my EPO plan. So my husband and I who are both self employed wasted an entire morning going from Round Hill to Sterling in morning rush hour traffic and back again for nothing. A complete waste of time. While I certainly don't expect the front desk employees to be insurance specialists, I do expect that they can correctly tell me over the phone whether or not they are in network with my plan. And if they can't, then they need to put me in touch with someone who can answer that question. I realize that insurance has become more and more complicated. But I do my part as the patient and I don't think it's too much to ask that the doctor's office do their part to help patients make sure the services are going to be covered. I feel like I should send this office a bill for two hours of lost time for myself and two hours of lost time for my husband for the hours of work we missed for nothing on Tuesday morning. read more

I can't express well enough my satisfaction with this dental practice, so I'll sum up: 1. Fantastic hours - I don't feel forced to take time from my job to have appointments scheduled because the have evening hours two days a week. Huge plus in my book. 2. The staff is incredibly professional and welcoming. Really. I felt like I was a long-term client after being in the office for 30 seconds. 3. Their philosophy is what gives me confidence in them. Dr. Chaudhry uses a lot of the technology in his office (flat panels to display x-rays, your records, any issues, etc) to inform his decisions. But it's more than that. He takes the time to make you a member of the decision making process. I never feel like I'm not told the whole story, or left out of discussions regarding issues, treatment plans, or outcomes. Any treatment plans are also prefaced as"Needed", "Needed, but not critical", or "desired, but not needed". He takes a lot of time to ensure you understand what's necessary and what's not. I've been going to Dr. Chaudhry for a couple of years, and he's been amazing! Him and his staff are so warm and welcoming. Going to the dentist can be a daunting experience, but the staff and Dr. Chaudhry make it an enjoyable and memorable experience. Dr. Chaudhry is extremely helpful and has a consistent positive attitude, which makes the dental experience so much more enjoyable. He is always explaining everything that he is doing during my procedure, which I appreciate highly. As for the negative review which claimed that he messed up on a filling, I highly doubt that, as Dr. Chaudhry has shown the utmost professionalism and the highest level of skill in his work. During every procedure I have gotten at Adams Smile Centre, which includes fillings and cleanings, Dr. Chaudhry constantly asks if I am comfortable or in pain, and if I am, then he adjusts so that he delivers the most comfortable and painless experience possible. I definitely recommend Adams Smile Center and Dr. Chaudhry for any dental needs, as well as the amazing environment, and personally I know that I'll be sticking with Dr. Chaudhry for all my future procedures! read more

Dr. Sultan Chaudhry is a really amazing dentist. He is very personable and really cares for his patients. He makes it a point to make sure your appointment is as pleasant and comfortable as possible. After my appointment with him he even gave me a call the next day to make sure I was doing okay. I've never had a dentist go out of his way to check up on me. It really shows that he genuinely cares. His office staff are friendly and good about giving you a confirmation call before your appointment. Dr. Chaudhry also takes time out of his schedule to teach dental students at Howard University College of Dentistry. I must say, I'm disappointed with the drop in quality from French's Dentistry. I was seen by Dr. Sultan Chaudhry, who did a sloppy, hurried job. It seems he wanted to get in and get out as quickly as possible.
