Can't recommend enough. Had a hernia. Was able to get an appointment in 10 days. Met he answered all the questions and explained the procedure in detail to where I left confident. Definitely didn't feel like I was being rushed out. Best part I said I needed to be healed by vacation so he said I have an opening in a week. And done. Post op was great. Would highly recommend Dr. Sugihara. He was very attentive during appointments, answered all my questions, and clearly explained the procedure. After surgery he made sure to make me as comfortable as possible, as I had mentioned how sick I get after anesthesia and how fearful I was of bloating and painful gas post procedure. Does not communicate. Does his hospital rounds in the middle of the night when patient is sleeping and never when family members are present. Sometimes doesn't even show up to see patient. Doesn't answer pages when nurses try to talk to him . I am not going to San Antonio hospital again in fear of him being my surgeon . read more

Dr.Sugihara was very informative and friendly during my time of care with him. He did a gallbladder removal surgery on me while I was at San Antonio Hospital. I went to see Dr. Sugihara thinking I had a groin hernia again from over 15 years ago. Dr. Sugihara had me get a CT Scan and when results came back, he called me to inform me he didn't advise I have surgery for this as he suspects it is a sports injury that probably needed physical therapy. He ordered an MRI for me and that is the current status. I am so very appreciative and in complete respect of Dr. Sugihara going out of his way to not simply do a surgery that isn't needed and willing to help me figure out what I'm dealing with! Excellent surgeon. This was my second surgery with Dr. Sugihara and my confidence in him remains top notch. When I found out that I needed surgery, I did not hesitate to ask my primary doctor to be referred again to Dr. Sugihara. Prior to the surgery, he takes the time to explain the procedure to you in detail and discuss what to expect during and after the surgery. He provides detailed written instructions on how to best prepare for the procedure. Once the surgery is complete, he takes the time to discuss the procedure with your family and provides written instructions upon discharge to help you with a speedy recovery. During the follow up visit, he checks on your incision to ensure that it is healing properly and discusses how the surgery went with you. If you are looking for a good- great surgeon, look no more!! Dr. Adam Q. Sugihara is a general surgeon. He was referred to us by a friend to remove a lipoma. Every meeting with him and his office staff, Veronica have been so pleasant. The wait time is short, which shows how much they value the patient's time as well. Dr. Sugihara has such a great bedside manner and took his time during the examination. He explained every step and was very patient in answering our questions. Veronica is one of the nicest persons in a medical office that I've met. She is very resourceful and helpful, considerate and very knowledgeable in assisting us. I highly recommend Dr Sugihara. I had emergency surgery done in which a drain had to be installed in my gallbladder of how inflamed was. After 8 weeks of having this drain coming out of my body, I searched for a surgeon that had more experience in the delicate procedure to remove the drain and my still inflamed gall bladder. After during my research I was confident that Dr. Sugihara was the right surgeon. I contacted his office and Veronica was very attentive and demonstrated real concern for my situation. She consulted with Dr Sugihara regarding my situation and called me back the following day. She indicated that Dr Sugihara would see me that same day! I went to see him and after examining me he agreed to do the surgery. He explained to me that the hospital did not have availability until 4 weeks later. After expressing my concerns and desire to have the surgery sooner, he agreed to contact the hospital to see what could be done. To my surprise, Veronica contacted me within a couple of days to let me know they were able to get me in the following week! Needless to say, the surgery was a success. I was in a tremendous amount of pain due to needing my gallbladder removed. I ended up in the ER and was admitted to have it removed ASAP. I was told Dr. Sugihara would be the surgeon to do the surgery and would be in to speak with me soon. I was pretty apprehensive and in a lot of pain when he walked in. By the time he left, I felt a lot better. He took his time, answered all my questions and made sure I had a perfectly clear understanding of the surgery and recovery. He has a great bedside manner and is very easy to talk to. I truly feel like he cared about me and my well being. I am now a month out and feel great. I could not have asked for a better experience during a tough time. If I ever need a surgeon again, he will be my first call. read more
