We used to play here but the courts are so cracked up you never know where the ball is actually going to bounce. Court two has a crack/bump that is so big, it could be used to teach kids how to jump a mountain bike. The folks who actually still play tennis there have replaced the term "Mulligan" with "Overman." an example to be used in a sentence would be, " dude, that ball took such a weird bounce, just take an Overman" We joined Newcome so we could actually play tennis.

She was very patient with me when i hadn't filled the questionnaire out completely. i was so busy with little help and all the questions were a lot, but important to help them. She didn't get angry or anything even called me the week of to prepare and finalize things. Offered advice and answered my questions. Jennifer was very responsive. Now Mia was my onsite person my day of coordinator. She was nothing short of amazing the sweetest person ever that packed a huge punch in the day. She was very responsive and handled everything that came our way with tact. She assisted with my thrown together rehearsal. My photographer was going to cancel the day before and she calmed me and even tried to work on suggestions. My Husband best man failed to show she calmed me and worked around all the changes we made last minute. She took a very good photo of my husband and I on our send off with my polaroid that i just love. She even remembered everything that i forgot. She communicated well with all my vendors and took the worrying off my shoulders. She kept us on schedule and when we veered off she reassured that it was ok. She checked in with me and my helpers and helped my step dad drape my beautiful backdrop for the wedding. My husband and I did our civil wedding ceremony at Marriage Island and it was perfect!…read more To give y'all a little background to my story, my husband and I will be doing our religious wedding next year in Mexico, and we were looking for a place to have our civil ceremony here in Texas. The truth is that I just wanted to go to the Court House and didn't feel like doing anything special, but my fiancee insisted on doing our ceremony at Marriage Island. In all honesty, I wasn't very convinced about the idea of doing this because of different factors like: the riverwalk being full of tourists, the boat tours passing by, the Texas heat, etc etc... I mean, it just felt like a waste of money....but I was so wrong. We had some of our closest friends and family attend the ceremony due to the size capacity of the island. The ceremony lasted around 7min, and it was perfect. After the ceremony we took pictures with our family and friends, and then did a 20min photo session around the riverwalk. This was definitely much special than just getting married at the Court and is a memory that I'll never forget. I also want to share a few quick tips for couples who are thinking on getting married here: 1- WEATHER: We had first reserved the island for 5pm on a July Summer day and we were crazy. After realizing how hot it was at that time, we talked to the management of Wedding island and they helped us move our time to 7pm. Which at the end it was perfect because we did out photoshoot during the "golden hour". 2- CAPACITY: The place is very small, and I think they only let you have 25 people. So really take this into consideration when you start inviting people. 3- WEDDING PLANNER: They try to sell us a wedding planner for our ceremony, and I'm glad we didn't get one. The ceremony is so quick and easy that you don't really need someone helping you with it. I think the wedding island is perfect for couples like us who are having another bigger wedding, and just want to have something small and special for a civil ceremony.

She made a 70 page PDF packet (WHAT!!!) of all the wedding venues that fit our budget and aesthetic in Austin for our budget. (We are based out of Chicago, so this was a destination wedding by all accounts.) Bethany hosted countless phone calls with myself and my partner about design palettes (she even made a slideshow for us to help visualize) and helped us through some really difficult vendors. For example, AFTER we booked a wedding venue and paid deposits, the venue CLOSED with just a few months before the big day. Bethany sprang into action and found us an even BETTER venue. Also, we booked a flight into Austin to work with a caterer, and he cancelled last minute. Bethany, again - the super hero that she is - found us a better caterer, and even scheduled a tasting during the time when the original vendor left us hanging. She came to both of our fittings, as this was a double bride ceremony. She talked me down from my personal freak-out about dress choices. She made a budget, a schedule, e-introduced all vendors, kept a very rosé-drunk "I Do Crew" (sorry about that) on task during our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner with grace and a smile. She made great suggestions (taking 15 minutes to ourselves post-vows, the flow of the wedding, etc) and was always by our side. She shoo'ed people away so we could have our last private dance, and was warm and welcoming throughout. I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing she is. It is hard for me to put into words the love I have for her. She truly went above and beyond what I could have imagined and helped me to bring my (somewhat crazy) wedding ideas to life! From the very beginning, I knew I needed a special person to help me pull off the "Wurst Wedding Ever"... I interviewed 3 wedding planners, including Caroline. Right off the bat, Caroline was the ONLY person to catch that I had the wrong date on my save the date mock-ups (I wish I could say that I did this on purpose, but NO it was really just a typo!). Not only does Caroline have an eye for detail, but her sense of calm and great attitude truly helped me to let go and actually relax and ENJOY my wedding day...something that I thought would NEVER happen (as I am a very type A personality when it comes to design and I prefer things done a certain way). Another thing that really stood out to me with Caroline is that she told me, "I am your wedding planner from the day you hire me." That is something rare to find in this crazy wedding market, and she was not lying.
