I first saw Dr. Zelina in early 2023. I had Covid my first time in late summer of 2022 on top of ongoing undiagnosed autoimmune issues and severe anemia in 2021. By the time I ended up at Zelina's, I had been in the ER too many times to count and had called 911 with my 5 year old sleeping nearby due to fluctuating blood pressure etc. I remember thinking "I have to try at least one more thing" and honestly I hoped this would be it. laugh emojis aside, I felt so defeated. Meeting Zelina was like meeting your long lost homegirl from back in the day, no joke! She was easy to talk to, listened, took the time to explain things and was a bit of hardass (meant in the best way possible) as in she told me exactly where I had wiggle room and where I didn't. she gave me a protocol and I was instantly scared but ready to try anything. I don't think more than a couple of weeks had passed before I felt like a different person. I felt like me! I've seen Zelina for acupuncture, health (in the most integrative way possible physical-mental-spiritual) guidance, ozone, cupping and even micro needling. I want to leave this for you because I am astounded at the interaction I had with this so-called practitioner. I requested a free consultation and instead of getting a free consultation. The first part of the session was research that I was not informed that I will be participating in instead of getting a 30 minute free conversation. I was given a 15 minute interview for research and then another 15 minutes to discuss my Health concerns. Her offices based in California and I am located in New York City. we had a phone session and even with the information that I provided to her in both sessions she still had the nerve to turn around and tell me that I needed to try harder to fix my symptoms. She told me that even though money is an issue that I need to try harder. She pretty much let me know that it's my fault that my auto immune is in the condition it is now. Every form of treatment that she suggested were things that I have been doing and trying for over a decade, practitioners, including herself do not take healthcare. I've never made enough money to be able to do things for 12 months straight on a weekly basis like acupuncture, massages, or a variety of physical therapy. Which she told me I needed to do. This was by far one of the worst interactions with a practitioner I have ever had. She has no empathy. She has no respect, no time or patience for people who do not have the means to be able to afford practitioners like her. I found Dr Zelina after hearing her on Organic Olivia's podcast in 2020. I've been following her on Instagram since then. I currently live in Portland, OR and flew out to LA to work with her. Finding a practitioner that I can trust is very hard for me. I have had my chronic illness since 2017 and went through so many doctors and they couldn't help me. I had a wonderful experience today with micro needling. I have been so curious what happens behind the closed door as I walk to Yoga and BOY WAS I HAPPY. The space initially is so inviting and peaceful that you immediately get into a calm space. I was gracefully placed on a bed with crystals and felt so relaxed that the needles on my face were not too unpleasant. The more challenging area on my forehead Dr. Zelina lead me into some meditative breathing, which helped me center and relax. I don't know about the other practitioners, but I do not recommend Dr. Zelina Medina. First off I was made to feel bad when I asked for insurance coverage to be used even though I found the business through my insurance and even confirmed this when making the appontement. Next, she only treated the back side of my body. I've had many acupuncture appointments in various places and that is not how it's done. Also, she left me under a heat lamp and never checked back. I couldn't move and I started sweating and feeling horrible. Then she tried to upsell me cupping in the middle of the treatment. I left feeling really tired and weird, and when I got home I started vomiting uncontrollably. I kept vomiting for hours and hours, to the point where I had to go to the urgent care to find medicine to stop the vomiting, since I was only vomiting water and my muscles were starting to cramp. I been getting treatments with Rebecca, on one of my visits she had mentioned that they also do cupping therapy, I was exited and asked if it was done with fire, I was told yes! Next thing you know Zelina Medina who did the cupping therapy comes and starts doing what I expected was the cupping therapy. I then find out she doesn't use the fire and I thought it was part of the procedure, 20 minutes later I'm done, I ask Zelina Media; why didn't she use fire? She responds by saying that it takes too long. The point here is that I paid for something and didn't get the service I was suppose to. I mentioned to Rebecca and she tells me with a surprised voice; "oh you both had a misunderstanding". Like Really? No Rebecca acted as if she wasn't aware of the incident with Zelina Medina. NOT PROFESSIONAL. THINK TWICE ABOUT BOOKING. I didn't even make it to my first appointment. I had found Dr. Zelina through my insurance and she was in network. I made an appointment online. I received final confirmation of the appointment the day before via text and E-mail. Given this was my first appointment, there was paperwork to fill out and the E-mail directed me to do so online. I spent about 10 minutes filling out the paperwork online to prepare for my appointment and submitted it. On the day of my appointment, about 2 hours before the appointment time, I get a text from Dr. Zelina saying she has to cancel the appointment. The text then goes on to say that I can reschedule with Dr. Zelina, or I can try and book with another acupuncturist in the Highland Park area and she gives me the contact information. By the way, in all of that paperwork that I filled out, there is an agreement that has to be signed that states appointment cancellations must be received 24 hours in advance or else there will be a charge, NO EXCEPTIONS. First of all... I was a sceptic. I didn't believe in Acupuncture. Then one day, the arch of my foot was in terrible pain. I was in search of a cortisone shot but all the foot doctors in the area were unavailable. Then a friend recommended acupuncture. So I called and Dr. Medina made time for me. I surrendered myself and wobbled to her cute home office. Her practical system made the insurance process go by smooth and quick! Then the pricks began and the strangest sensations started to occur. Twitching muscles, electric pulses, and what felt like a ball rolling down my leg and back were occurring. Needle after needle, she would softly speak to me explaining what she was targeting (She knew I was a sceptic. Yet she was very empathetic.) It was magical. Finally, we were done. I stood and the pain had subsided. She did recommend rest and gave me a peyote pomade to put on my foot. Well folks, the next morning, the pain WAS ALL GONE! I guess there is something to be said about a science that has been practiced for centuries. I fractured my spine last summer. Since then, I have had stiffness and some slight pain. After 1 session with Zelina, my back felt great. I was able to sleep better and lay down without being uncomfortable. She also gave me a full pre evaluation and I had mentioned some headaches I get from time to time do to fatigue.
