I needed to come in for tailbone area discomfort and upper body tension and after two appointments I feel so much better! My new patient intake forms went well and I was able to explain my symptoms thoroughly. My health insurance gave me the referral to this clinic and I'm happy with my progress. This was my first ever visit and experience with acupuncture. I was recently diagnosed with Bell's Palsy and had heard that starting acupuncture as soon as possible could provide a better chance at a faster recovery. I found that this business is in network for my insurance so I decided to give it a try. The office is very serene and tranquil. As others have mentioned, Dr Gu is very knowledgeable in what he is doing. I was in my head about the needles, but he was gentle, thorough and explained the process. I also had cupping done following the acupuncture. Both were very different and unique experiences. The paperwork goes over everything, and I felt more at ease having full knowledge of what to expect. After the initial consult, Dr Gu went over the treatment plan. I'll update with my results once I complete my treatment. There is plenty of parking in their lot, and they accept credit card payments without fees. read more

Joyee Acupuncture & Herbs - Front office - Acupuncture Near Me - South Pasadena, California

I have been going to Dr. Gu (Robin) for acupuncture for a lower leg injury that I have been struggling with. I originally chose Joyee Acupuncture because it was one of the closest acupuncture centers to me on my health insurance plan, and the location was positively reviewed on yelp. Prior to working with Dr. Gu, I had never tried acupuncture before in the past. I want to highly recommend Dr. Gu, because with his acupuncture help my lower leg has improved so much (I've been going for about a month now)! There is a lot less pain, and I feel I have finally turned the corner on my injury after a handful of setbacks. My only regret was that not going sooner after my injury. Dr. Gu is very skilled, as well as polite and kind (so is his staff). read more

I am revising my previous Yelp review stating that we felt seriously misled by Dr. Robin Gu at Joyee over the billing. After posting my initial review, the office immediately followed up. It looks like there was a misunderstanding on our part and the office did indeed submit the billing to our insurer. In addition, Joyee apologized for any miscommunication and offered a $30 refund. We told them not to worry about it; I really appreciated Joyee's sincere efforts to respond. Dr. Gu's treatments did not help my husband's arthritic hands at all so we stopped going after four visits at $60 for 30-minute treatments per session. However, the office notes that acupuncture can take many sessions to show results -- 5-10 visits in my husband's case -- so in fairness it might have been more effective had he continued going. Thank you Joyee for your prompt attention to our concerns. read more

Thank you Dr Gu for curing my back and shoulder pains. After 3 treatments I already felt better. I went into his office crying with lower back spasms and sciatica. Dr Gu has a gentle touch he knows exactly where to treat your pains after his consultation, and the needles don't hurt. In fact my last visit I fell asleep I was so relaxed. Very effective, helpful and friendly practice! read more

I would not recommend this place. They are money hungry and the establishment is dirty. My intake took 5 minutes --he looked at my tongue, made me walk around, then immediately recommended I take an herbal tea that costs $10/day, totaling $300 per month. It was a ridiculous amount for the shortest consultation of my life. He didn't even tell me what was wrong with me, just prescribed tea. The bathroom and rooms were outdated and dirty. The floor looked like it hadn't been swept in years. I will not be returning. read more

Dr. Robin of Joyce Acupuncture is fantastic. I've been struggling with a herniated disc and severe low back pain for 4+ months. After just four visits (within two weeks) of acupuncture and cupping (60 minutes each visit) at Joyee, as well as daily herbs/ tea provided by Dr. Robin, I'm already feeling SO much relief and significantly less pain in my low back. It's the best I've felt in months and I'm grateful for the excellent care that Dr. Robin is providing to help me heal. This is my first time doing acupuncture and cupping. I enjoy my sessions very much. I "zone out" big time and feel very relaxed afterwards. The space is clean, quiet, and comfortable. Dr. Robin has a thorough and in-depth understanding of the human body and physiology. He looks at the whole body (inside and out) during his treatment - For example, he found a pressure point in my hand that, when placing a needle, provides relief to my low back. Amazing! Final thoughts: I highly recommend Dr. Robin and Joyee. The treatment I'm receiving is instrumental in providing me with physical and mental relief from my low back pain. For those with Kaiser: Joyee does accept insurance. I received a referral from Kaiser for acupuncture and Kaiser is covering that piece of my treatment. read more

I really can't say enough about how great of work Dr. Gu does. He has been able to tune in to my chronic arm/wrist pain of many years and have it improved more than any other time. And a recent set of visits for a finger injury (yes, needles on the finger) have again proved to increase healing time dramatically. Other friends I have referred have later told me the same thing: Miracle Worker. Robin Gu is amazing ! read more

Dr. Gu is well versed in the oriental medicinal practices of acupuncture and Tuina massage and focuses his treatment sessions on pain management and muscle / nerve relaxation. He will warm up the muscles, provide pointed acupuncture care, and end with tuina and some sage advice. I've always felt better after the sessions and strive to practice better work / life habits. They accept most insurance and Medicare and I recommend his clinic wholeheartedly. read more

A few months ago I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis on both hands. Besides the pain to lift things it caused my right to develop trigger finger. Primary care provider wanted me to go for hand therapy and also receive injections to reduce inflammation, that was not an option I was willing to do I've had acupuncture before, but to my surprise that location closed. So I started looking for a new location and was very lucky I found this one. Close to my home and location is close to train station which is wonderful as I don't have a vehicle but if you drive they have a lot of parking They also take various insurances, but my insurance has their own panel of Dr's I can only see and this one not on panel At least the fee was reasonable, and if you have FSA this can be reimbursed. My treatment started in June2022 and ended July2022. Each visit instantly helped with the pain and also gave me such calmness that I finally was able to sleep as I have insomnia as well. They also do much more than acupuncture, cupping and massage may also be incorporated depending on the ailment. read more

Dr Gu is amazing! He's quiet enough to listen and thinks very carefully about me, the patient. That's how a doctor supposed to be. He's so thorough and thinks about every step of the acupunctures. I have long-term tendinitis from work-related overuse and have heard so many great things about acupuncture so I decided to give it a try Immediately, they sanitize the bottom of your shoes and give you a consultation. Robin Gu is the professional who worked on me and he is very attentive to the pain I was experiencing and has created a plan to help ease my pain. He gave me an exercise to do at home to help but doesn't shame me if I haven't done it. I don't feel uncomfortable when I need to un-robe, they give medical dresses, Robin is very respectful. He uses gloves when doing body work, which I am 100% okay with because it protects him and me. Robin knows all the right points to really get at the pain- at least that's been my experience! read more

My care under Dr. Robin at Joyee Accupuncture and Herbs in S. Pasadena was an amazing success story. The office and environment is sterile and welcoming. I first went to him after having Long Covid Symptoms for the past 3 years. My symptoms were chronic fatigue, autoimmune diseases, cognitive decline, chronic pain and depression. After a few months of treatment he was able to renew my whole system where 80% of my symptoms were no longer controlling me. I now see him on a regular basis to keep myself stable and strong. Prior to Dr. Robin I tried everything to get help but Western medicine only caused more problems with medication. I am now medicine free, healthy, happy and vibrant again. I owe so much to Dr. Robin and Joyee Accupuncture. I trust him. Good luck with your own personal journey. read more

I'm so glad I found Dr. Gu and this place after I had elbow pain for several days earlier this year. I was also suffering from constant lower back pain, largely caused by a bulging disc. I was treated with acupuncture and cupping. My elbow pain was immediately eliminated and my lower back pain has been relieved since. Two unexpected benefits from my treatment. Each time after I had a treatment, my head was no longer foggy the next morning. Dr. Gu also used pricking and cupping on the Dazhui point and several other points, which would boost Qi and blood circulation as a way to relieve the chronic inflammation in my throat. It delivered an immediate and dramatic effect. I continue to come here, as I know I'm in good hands. Highly recommend! read more

I've been coming here on and off for the past year for acupuncture and acupressure therapy to manage my lower back pain. Prior to Joyee, I was on a strict physical therapy regimen which unfortunately offered no improvement. Then a friend recommended acupuncture / acupressure. At first, I was apprehensive, mainly due to the cost. But after learning Joyee accepts insurance, I decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did. Robin listened intently to my symptoms and administered focused treatment. After years of waking up to a stiff back that hurt just from standing and pain lingering throughout the day, I can honestly say that this treatment is a remedy that works! I also found that acupuncture noticeably increases my energy levels. If you haven't tried acupuncture or acupressure, I highly recommend Robin at Joyee. read more

Wonderful relief! I came here seeking some relief from menopausal symptoms I was having. I had mood swings, poor temperature regulation, disturbed sleep, and nausea on and off throughout my day for 3 months! Robin prescribed some Chinese Herbs to take over 10 days, acupuncture and cupping. I had relief the SAME DAY. I no longer suffer bouts of nausea throughout my day. I'm sleeping through the night and as my husband can attest; my mood swings are less severe and have allowed me to enact some other holistic treatments which have eased all of my symptoms. I will continue my treatment, the results are fantastic! Thank you JOYEE!!! read more

This place is great! Dr Robin helped my mom tremendously. She is 93 and fell. She was in horrific pain. She could not walk anymore as a result of the fall, and the first few sessions I had to bring her in in a wheelchair. Now she is out of the wheelchair and back on her walker like she was before the fall. His prices are also fair. A few years before, my mom went to the same place for chronic back pain. His predecessor gave her great and lasting relief and she no longer suffers from back pain, even though her back remains very arthritic. read more
