A modern tasting room at the heart of downtown Napa. It was the third day of the Napa trip and me and my friend already visited a number of wineries, but wanted to do some exploration in downtown. Acumen offers a good variety of whites, roses and reds, but their signature Cabs are fascinating even compared to the other more prestigious older wineries in Napa. The tasting room also has an art exhibition space at the back where you can take a walk with your wine. Noel who served us on the day is super friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the wines. We were celebrating a friends birthday and were harrassed from the moment we stepped off the shuttle. Taking pictures in front of the tasting room, a woman came out and said "she would charge us for the fruniture". We did not engage instead went to the place were we had reservations. When we were leaving a young man, made faces like an ignorant child at us and told the shuttle driver not to stop and pick us up in front of their establishment. Rude and Racist. The Acumen Wine Gallery serves as a wine tasting room for the Acumen Wines (the vineyards and winery are up on Atlas Peak) and a very nice art gallery. As you can see from the pictures, it's an absolutely beautiful venue. I personally loved the wines here. Big cabs served in large stemware for a great tasting. Noel was our server and he was very knowledgeable and passionate about the wines and the art in the gallery and a wonderful person. He personally made the visit a wonderful and educational one. Completely enamored with this wine gallery! We came in on our first day in Napa, and of the three days we were there, and the mini wineries we visited, & tasting experiences, we agreed that this was a definite highlight. I regret not purchasing the wine we had here immediately. It was absolutely Beautiful. I had decided to wait, considering it's my first day and the hotel is nearby. As it was, we did not make it back to purchase and wish I could have. This was really just a great experience overall. Our host was a doll and so much fun. We really enjoyed talking with him. We also loved the art gallery. Absolutely beautiful works. It would be worth going in even for the artwork alone. read more

My family stopped in here recently, and we had a wonderful experience. We had the private room in the back, and we had Penelope helping us. We had our kids in tow, and she was so kind to them, bringing them snacks and treats, while they flirted with her. We were able to try several different wines, and I had a Sauvignon Blanc and a Cab Sav. Both were wonderful, and we bought several bottles to take with us. The art was also very compelling, and I loved being able to feel like I'd visited a gallery and a tasting room at the same time. When on Main Street, this is a lovely place to stop and stay a while. read more

Acumen is one of my favorite downtown Napa wine tasting salons. The tasting room is comfortable open and light filled, as there are large wall windows in the store front that lets in the beautiful Napa sunshine. The Napa Neighbors 2:1 tasting is offered during weekdays, so that's a bonus! Available is a private room for groups that probably accommodates a dozen or so folks. We truly enjoyed the Wines at tasting. I always seem to root for the reds! And so it was red winner again ;-) read more

Very unique from other tastings rooms downtown, with a free art room to tour while tasting there. We got to do the Napa neighbor deal on January 13th, we did the mountain side flight of three wines, a Sauv blanc, Red blend and Cab blend. All where very good but the red blend was my favorite! The art was different, but after staring a little and thinking about the fact that someone put all their work and sweat into it, then I was able to appreciate the art they had. I suggest parking in one of the areas parking garages because street parking is super limited! read more

Another great wine tasting room in downtown Napa. We have been here a couple times now. This is strictly a flight tasting place. They have a couple nice couch settings and a small bar area to sit. I like to sit. My partner likes to sit. We both have back issues and knee issues and enjoying a nice wine while in pain doesn't work. The wines are great and I see them in different high end restaurants. The grapes are sourced from there own vineyards in Atlas Peak. My partner and I each had the same tasting recently. All 2013's. A Merlot, Tempranillo, Malbec and Cabernet Francisco. Not a Cab Sauv in the group. They make a Cabernet Sauvignon. It just wasn't in this flight. They were all great. Wines to buy are from $60-$90. They may have a few outside that range. They also have an art gallery your can stroll through while tasting. It's nice they are open until 7 pm also. For downtown Napa tasting it is worth a look. read more

My girlfriend and I visited Downtown Napa for the first time and as beginners with wine, I was vastly overwhelmed. This was our second and final stop of the night. When walking in, the tasting room was very classy and attached to an art gallery. It was very aesthetically pleasing. We were there towards closing time on a Sunday so there weren't too many people. Edgar was a wonderful host. He gave us detailed information about all of the wines we tasted, the Acumen process, and the vineyards themselves. He was inviting and engaging with us which made the experience even better. The wines themselves were absolutely delicious. We tried the Mountainside Sauvignon Blanc, the Mountainside Red Wine, two Sauvignon Cabs (Mountainside and Peak) , and a Peak Sauvignon Franc. Every single one had top flavors and aromas. We ended up with a bottle of the Franc to take home. Overall, it was such a wonderful experience here and we couldn't be more happy with our choice. read more

I was in Napa town for a wedding and had a couple of hours before I had to start getting ready. We stumbled across this tasting room on our way back from brunch. It is impeccably decorating, and honestly the trendy yet welcoming ambiance alone makes it worth a visit. They also have a small art gallery in the adjoining room. The wines we tasted were also good. I don't remember the name of the woman who helped us, but she was incredibly knowledgeable about all of the wines and gave us very detailed comparisons and descriptions. I went tasting here on a Saturday and they have a lovely tasting room. You can sit at a bar area or they have comfortable seating around the front. In the back they have an art gallery with paintings. I loved the wines, interesting takes on Napa classics, and the ambiance was great. Although on the pricey side at $25 - $40 a tasting, this is very usual for the downtown Napa area and the staff on-hand are professional and knowledgeable. read more

I was a first time Napa visitor this weekend and after visiting the very popular and fine looking vineyards as well as the must see tasting rooms I have to say Acumen was my absolute favorite. My breath was taken away upon entering at the beautifully curated tasting room accented with wood and crystal and eclectic art all around. My tasting room attendant, Edgar was so thorough in explaining the history of the very new winery, Acumen, as well as telling me what Napa Valley is really about, you can tell he is passionate about his job and he is very loyal to Acumen. He even guided me around the art gallery portion and gave more information than I could have pulled on my own about each piece. The wine was delicious and I will definitely be back my next trip to Napa. read more

To whom it may concern: My girlfriend and I went to Napa for the first time, and we were recommended this wine tasting experience. We had a reservation for 4:00 P.M. that lasted till 4:45 (I believe they needed us out by 4:45 to disinfect the table for another appointment). We get to the winery at 3:50 P.M. due to being polite and not desiring to be late, we were told to wait outside (which we did happily). Then at 4:00 P.M. our reservation time, we were told the table is not ready, but to wait outside again and we will be brought a glass of wine for our trouble, and it will only be a few minutes. The wine never came, and it was not till 4:30 P.M that we were permitted to go into the winery. They had us wait 30 minutes outside when we had a reservation. Some waiting for these things is expected, we must all be flexible during this time. But, waiting 30 minutes for a wine tasting experience that was at max suppose to be 45 minutes total goes above and beyond social norms and being flexible. Wine tasting is about the experience. The experience was we paid to wait outside 30 minutes then rush down a few gulps of wine. If we would have been told it was a 30 minute wait, we would have bought a bottle and gone to our hotel, or went somewhere else. I highly recommend any other winery in Napa, besides this one. read more
