Been here a few times over the summer to get my mind and body right. I've done acupuncture and…read morecupping. The experience is okay. You get asked a few questions about your energy and what you want to focus on and then for acupuncture, they'll check your energy levels. After inserting the needles in, they leave you to it. No music or meditation or chants. Just you, and the car horns outside. I think that's where I'm a little disappointed. Other places I've been either give you one of the two and check in on you. I was just sorta left for I'm assuming was 30 minutes? There's no clocks so I lost track of time. Next few times I came, I was prepared to do some meditation on my own and really focus on my thoughts, breathing and healing. I have pretty decent insurance and so it only came out to about 20 bucks per session and at that price, it goes from a 3 star review to a 4 star. But without that, I could easily rate this a 3 star place. I'll be coming back for sure though. Every where else seems to have a wait list or they aren't as nice. Everyone is super nice. You wont find anyone not happy to be there.

She may look small, but she's strong, and adept at using the deep pressure I need to unlock my tight muscles. I don't know how she remembers it all, but she also keeps track of what was happening in my body in past sessions, and will either ask verbally or simply check to see if past trouble spots still require extra attention. Over the years I have been seeing her, I have had two bouts of sciatica which were extremely painful. Her healing hands and her flexibility to fit me into her schedule on short notice were a great relief at a very difficult time. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I recently took the California Bar Exam. It was a three day exam that lasted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m…read more each day. I contacted Alison Shafer to help me with clarity, stress and recall. We met a few days before the exam for a treatment, and then again the night before the first day for a phone session to focus on clearing my energy and putting my mental state in a good place for the test. During the exam I felt clear and confident. In addition, I felt like I had a protective bubble protecting me from the energy of others in the test center. Imagine taking a test with over a thousand other people that are over tired, over stressed and over caffeinated. It can be overwhelming, however I was not overwhelmed. I was focused. I just found out that I PASSED ! The statistics have also come out that it was the hardest bar exam in over five years, with a 39% pass rate. Although I studied hard for the exam, I attribute my ability to execute on exam day to my acupuncture treatments by Alison Shafer. She was able to identify and treat the areas that would help me the most and I was able to do what many others could not. Thank you Alison and Acupuncture Wellness Center. I will be sworn in to the State Bar of California in a few weeks.

I've never been so happy to have a bruised up back. I researched it, the bruising isn't really bruising (it kind of looks like one big hickey) whatever this technique is, it increased blood flow.

If you value your time even a little, avoid this place…read more I had a 3:00 PM appointment on Friday for my first visit. I showed up on time to find the office completely shut down with the door locked, lights off, no sign, no notice, nothing. While I was standing there, another patient arrived... also scheduled for 3:00 PM. So, this wasn't an isolated miss; he simply left multiple patients hanging. We both called. No answer. I left a voicemail. Then came the most telling part: zero follow-up. Not later that day. Not the next day. Not even by Tuesday afternoon. After two full business days of silence, I had to call him. He answered and said there was an "emergency" on Friday that prevented him from contacting patients. Fair enough, life happens. But when I asked why he didn't follow up at any point over the next two business days, the answer was... the same "emergency." An emergency may explain Friday. It does not explain failing to make a single 30-second courtesy call over the next two business days to the patients you stood up. This was a complete lack of basic professional courtesy. He eventually apologized, and then, unbelievably, asked if I wanted to reschedule. After being stood up, ignored, and given a recycled excuse, that was an easy no. If this is how new patients are treated, it doesn't inspire confidence in how ongoing care would be handled.

While effective, I never quite fit acupuncture into my regular schedule. This time was different. Some months back, I suffered a tendon injury that seemed impossibly stubborn to heal. It was highly frustrating and painful to be sidelined for several weeks from my normal activities, with little noticeable progress healing and, as a bonus, a handful of secondary problems piling up from disuse. On a recommendation from a friend, I visited Lucky Tiger. I was very impressed with Dr. Ciara's diagnostic skills as she quickly pinpointed the afflicted area and went to work with a regimen of acupuncture and moxibustion to stimulate the injured tendon and improve natural healing. By the end of the first session, my injury had made its first significant improvement. That progress made me a regular patient. Over the next few visits the injury healed up and the secondary issues began to clear as well. Now that I've regained my higher level of activity, I finally feel like my old self.
