I've had a membership with this location as my home studio for over a year now. Once you get there,…read moreit's really easy to get hyped up and excited. I started off with an unlimited membership at first but decreased to a 4 classes a month membership after realizing my travel obligations (no Orangetheory studios close to the areas I was traveling to for work!). Management has always been helpful and understanding. Coaches are high energy and willing to answer any questions or concerns. Oh, and did I mention I've lost 15 pounds since I first started working out here? It works.

Upon arrival, I was greeted and had to complete minor paperwork because it was my first time at this Orangetheory fitness center. After I completed the paperwork, I chilled out for a bit. The facility was so clean, just as my home Orangetheory is. More people arrived for the class. Finally, the class started. And Landon, who is an instructor greeted us all and recognized the newbie to Orangetheory. We all entered in and hit our stations. I am a creature of habit butI felt awkward only because the people were all new to me. So I will never take stars away for that. The workout was great, and Landon encouraged us to push ourselves. It was a good workout. As my home gym does, he takes the time to make sure you are lifting weights the right way if he sees you are struggling. I have to say, Orangetheory is an excellent workout. If you are looking for a good workout. This is the place! Some people get scared because they think that it is too intense for them. But you can set your own pace. It's a good workout, it is different everytime, and you can choose your pace. And you will get a lot of coaching to help motivate you to push harder. Keep burning!

They also genuinely seem to be glad to see my children. I like water aerobics and using the elliptical. You use a app or call to set up a appointment. With the app you can see how many people will be in the same room with you. Come take a tour!

I have been a regular at the Flowood Y for three years. I strength train there three days most…read moreweeks and do all my cardio the other 3-4 days per week if the weather keeps me indoors. The equipment is very well maintained and extensive. The indoor lap pool is very nice and not crowded during most of every day. The staff is amazing in all parts of the facility. I am not generally a group exercise fan but, if you are, the Flowood Y is your place to be. HIIT, Zumba, Yoga, Mat Palates, Reformer Palates, Body Sculpt, Step Aerobics, Spin, Barre, Kickboxing, Water Aerobics ... probably 100 classes per week--all included in your basic membership. I am also not a parent but know that the Flowood Y has child care (included with family membership) for your children age 6 months to 12 years, for up to 90 minutes a day while you work out. The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is the lack of a steam room, dry sauna, massage or laundry service but hey--its a YMCA--not Equinox. As Katie said, it is one of the nicest YMCA's you will ever see and at a small fraction of the Equinox price. Frankly, if you like any form of group exercise and/or are towing a kid around, I can't imagine you going anywhere else in Jackson, Madison, Ridgeland, Flowood or Brandon.

Paper towels & sanitizer sprays remain stocked and the staff is very friendly. What else could you need, outside of a black card membership to use the massage beds, tanning, extra features and a personal motivation to get your butt in there and make it happen. On top of that, I love that Planet Fitness is always integrating and updating their app and technological devices. I also love that Planet Fitness is everywhere in the nation. So, I know that if I travel, I don't have to worry about not having a place to workout. Planet Fitness is the future of working out.

I've been going to this PF in Pearl for a couple of years now. Had a pretty decent experience…read morethere and would have given it 4-stars anytime before this, but I am very disappointed to say that, as of 3/14/22, they will no longer even be 24/5. That's right - they'll only be open from 5 am to either 9 or 10 pm during the week and are only open 7 am - 9 pm on the weekends. Of course, at this location, posted opening hours are irrelevant! I chose to stop going to this location on the weekends months ago because there were MANY, MANY Saturdays and Sundays that no one would show to open the gym until 7:45 / 8:00 am and that was only because we called other PF locations asking for help. I can only imagine that the same will be true for weekdays now, too. Keep in mind that thus far, we've not heard anything at all from management or corporate about this change. I'm just grateful the staff have been kind enough to warn us really early birds this time! I'm not typically one to write a review of anything, but as long as I'm already here I may as well share the rest... If you're a Black Card member, beware - it takes a miracle for the bulbs in the tanning booths to be changed when they go out (no matter how many times you notify staff and management) and the hydro-massage beds are often out of service as well. If you complain enough, or send emails, Kat or one of the location managers might respond with "Oh, we're working on that...", but it still takes too long for equipment to be repaired. For instance, there have been at least six bulbs out in Booth 5 for almost 2 months. I understand not wanting to change out one or two, but six or more? I've continued to go to this location during the week, despite it's challenges, because it's super convenient for me, is usually pretty clean, and the price is definitely right (when everything works). I also really like and appreciate the overnight staff, who've been great! I hate to change locations, but cutting the hours like this is the last straw. Not sure how they can really even be called Planet Fitness anymore when you have a company that touts being 24/7 and now your location isn't going to be 24 anything.
