This review is for the location at 215 Islington Ave. I would NEVER go there again. A total scam. I have never been this angry with a mechanic in the 25 years of my driving career. We got a quote to get the gearshift selector cable and the neutral safety switch replaced: $534.88 in labour and $1121.20 in parts plus HST. We said go ahead. Then, when they tried to replace the parts, THEY BROKE THE BOLT and said the only way to fix it is to pay additional $3000 to get the transmission replaced. We told them this was unacceptable so they said they'd just weld the broken bolt back together, without installing the parts. They said they couldn't return the parts so ended up charging us the full $1121.20 plus HST for the parts which we ended up taking home with us. Then, on top of that, they had the audacity to charge us $484.88 plus HST for labour, ie the original quote for REPLACING the parts minus a $50 discount, ie. THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE PARTS BUT CHARGED US FOR THAT WORK ANYHOW. This is absolutely outrageous. They should have charged us for the welding if anything which I cannot imagine being this expensive. Overall a terrible experience. I feel we've been taken advantage of. read more

Gotta admit I was a tad hesitant to take my vehicle here for service given the W5 news coverage that the brand received a year or two ago but I was in a bind as the heat had cooked the battery in my Jeep and I had stuff to do! I had previously called CAA (rip off), Visited Canadian Tire (double rip off) and even had a fleeting thought about going back to the dealership... HA!!!! (See my review of Islington Chrysler for more details). But when I called AG+R the gent (Eugene) I spoke with was friendly, helpful and gave a quick quote and timeline. I came in right before opening at 8am and they were already taking people in to get them assessed, quoted and into the queue so parts could be ordered and customers serviced promptly at opening. There were two prices for a replacement battery, acceptable and Canadian Tire Crazy (CTC). I opted for the more reasonable price, the battery was ordered and delivered within 15 minutes. $280 all in about 25 minutes later I was paid up and back in my car and on my way. Boom. Car is running great again, and I really appreciated how they tried their best to find an affordable quality option to get me on my way as quickly as possible. Look forward to taking my future business here as it's close to home and offer great service. read more

the sign on the property reads "number 1 in etobicoke" i think not called ahead to try and schedule a drive clean test, and asked a couple of questions, due to the fact that my car was going to fail they wanted $30 for the test (gov't test fee) $180 to "diagnose" and one hour with my vehicle $30 for retest (gov't test fee) after explaining to the guy on the phone that i already had it diagnosed, just need it fixed, he was not willing to budge on skipping the diagnosis fee. i took my business else where... why? why would i pay more then your hourly labour rate...to diagnose something...? smells funny read more

Wow. I wish I could give 10 stars!! Purchased new wheels and rims for my winter drives. After many back and forth phone calls about size and type we settled on an 8am appt Saturday. I walked in at 8am to controlled chaos and walked out at 830 am! Team is SUPER friendly and George! What can I say, amazing service. Happy to see all his customers, helpful to the point he referred a customer to another shop for exhaust work because he was backed up with tire service! who DOES that? George does what it takes to make his customers happy and feel at ease. See you guys in the spring! Go see the team! PS: George, your new glasses look great!! Drive safely (and undistracted) everyone. Update: April 4 I LOVE my winter tires! If George says leave them on....LEAVE THEM ON!! (Yeah I yelled that!) read more

I recently went to the Active Green & Ross at 215 Islington Avenue. I was very impressed with there work ethic. Raj Rajendran made sure that my brakes were going to be fixed and also explained in detail to me how the process. Thank you Highly recommended. read more

This is a great place to take your car. They have been taking care of my (senior) father's cars for a long time, and always go the extra mile to help him out. I recently was visiting from out of town and had reason to take my dad's car there. They couldn't have been nicer. The service was great, including coming to pick my dad's car up! (William was great!) I appreciate them being so good to my dad. Thank you! read more

I went in with the nail in my tire and they repaired it for free. People working there when I went there were excellent and very nice. The service is great I have been happy with the work they did on my car. The only criticism is that their prices are a little higher than some of the small independent garage is that are around when comparing a range of services. read more

These guys are awesome, snow tires and rims within 3 hours of my phone call at a fair price. They also dropped me off at my house and picked me up when they were done with my car(I live 5 mins away). Great guys full of personality! read more

When the chips were down and I really needed someone one to help me out, George and his team at Active Green and Ross were there. I owe my thanks to these guys, not only for the quality work they did on my '07 Volvo V50, but also the customer service they give. If your just looking for great technicians to work on your car backed by stellar customer service, then there's no need to read any further... bring your car here... Otherwise, please read on for my experience. Sixty hour work weeks made car repairs a little difficult, but my car was starting to have problems. With only a Saturday afternoon to get ready for a vacation in Georgian Bay leaving the next day, I decided to call the neighborhood repair shop otherwise, take a chance driving my family in a problematic car. My instinct turned out to be a blessing. George assured me he would get me on the road. Given that Volvo parts are hard to come by on a Saturday afternoon, I was going to have to rent a vehicle...which is also hard to come by in Toronto on a weekend during the summer. It was getting bleak. Hopes of making my reservations on time were slipping away with every rental agency either closing or lacking inventory. I called George and told him I would have to take a chance on my problem car and come back later. George is a man of his word. Within an hour, he pulled some strings, made a few calls then pulled up to the front of my house with his good friend, Angela from Enterprise, in a 4x4 Ram Outdoorsman. Problem solved. Ten minutes later, I was on my way to get stuff done. George (and Angela) made this happen on their time. This is what great service is... People who understand your needs then go above and beyond to put you at ease... and do so in style. To George and the Team at Active Green and Ross at Islington and Birmingham, you got yourselves a loyal new customer...thanks a million. read more

I've been a regular customer at AG+R at Islington and Lakeshore for about 8 years now. Their customer service is excellent, and they complete the work I need done on my car when I need it done, almost always the same day. For example, I like to change my own winter and summer tires, but I often have a problem with swollen lug nuts on my Ford (very annoying). I was able to change three tires, but I had one swollen lug, and so I took it to AG+R today to change the last tire. Eugene was very helpful, and although they were very busy, my car was done in a couple of hours, and he didn't even charge me because I'm a regular and it was a small job. Thanks! read more

I went into the shop two weeks ago as a walk in and they said they were really busy and couldn't do it. Which is very understandable as I was a walk in. So I booked an appointment for the following week @ 0800 on a Friday. Went to drop my car off and requested the car be ready for 1000 as I needed it. I was told they couldn't do it as their technician would not be in till 0930 and they wouldn't be able to do it. So, then in order to compromise I suggested I bring it back @ 1400 to which they said couldn't be done and suggested for the following Friday......... "Good Friday". So to say the least VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, the customer service is sub-standard and that's being nice. I would strongly recommend using another place as sadly this shop is only really good for lack of customer service and providing incredible frustration. read more

I have been a regular customer for years (until now). Dropped off my car before 8 am to get winter tires put on (no problem). By 4:30 pm still not touched. Went and picked up my car without getting tires changed. I will never go back here again. read more
