Wow. Night and day customer service. Called them because garage door didn't close. The person who called me back, not so friendly. I explained the problem. He said it had been 14 months since we got the new motor. Only has 12 month guarantee. They offer 30 days on their labor. "You signed the receipt" he told me. Yes I did, but there shouldn't be a problem in 13 months. Right? I would think you would want to look at it. You know, good customer service. No, $75 to come and diagnose the problem. More if need parts. Ok. Do you work on Saturdays? No. You call other garage door service who is open on Saturday. You're right. Click. Totally night and day customer service. Very friendly and outgoing when we bought the motor. Not so much today. I get it. We all need to make money. I did sign the receipt. I honestly thought he would step up and come check his work. Ugly experience. It was the way he spoke to me. Very denigrating. A nasty tone to his voice. Like my mother always said, it's not what you say, but how you say it. My garage door opener wasn't working, I called my home appliance insurance on Thursday afternoon, They sent the work order to Active Garage Door Services. Same day Joe called and made appointment for Monday between 10am-2pm. We called American Home Shield to repair a garage door and they sent this company. The man that came was Joe and he said that the cable was off line and he that it was not covered by our warranty because it was part of the door, but actually it is a part of the rail and trolley assembly, but he wrote it so that it is not covered by our policy. Said he could fix it but only if we paid him $350. The real price he said was $475 and he would give us a break. We asked Joe how long it would take and he said 25-30 minutes and it comes with one month's warranty. We refused to pay him, called someone else that came right over and he did the job for $150. I do not evaluate their work but feel that the practice of extortion is very disgusting! Be aware!!! read more

I am happy. Our garage door works again! Joe and his partner spent time cleaning the areas around the sensors, aligning them and attaching the wires to the wall with staples. I watched as they took apart the overhead parts and replaced the logic/receiver circuit board and carefully put everything back together. They programmed my remote, too, and lubricated the track thoroughly, so the garage door is once again working as it should. Today I was opening my garage door and heard a pop. I saw the bracket that connects the door to the opener had snapped. I started calling repair people who had good yelp reviews. Warning extortion! I had 3 issues with my garage door. 1)spring broke, 2. Remote control not working 3. Button to open door was not working so i place a service call to American home shield and they sent this company. As soon as sevice guy Joe got there he said spring was not covered, i didnt have remote control out to show and he said missing remote not covered either and door button according to him was working. He called AHS to verify coverage. They told me spring wasnt covered and he could fix for $260 i told them no (too high) they took the cover off opener which they had no buisness doing missing remote not cov unless i find it. Like 5 min after they left i found remote and called joe so he can come fix that but he said i had to call to reschedule. So after rescheduling he came out and said there was no way that remote ever worked w my garage door opener (it used to wk). Well he called AHS and told them it wasnt original and said it was not covered. I had verified w ahs and they had told me it didnt need to be original. It seems like this company knows what to say and write down to not have items covered and try to over charge for repairs. He fixed button on door and said he was doing me a favor. read more

Like many other have said, Joe and his team are awesome! When something like a garage door that was working fine moment ago just randomly breaks, its highly frustrating...but its good to know that you can call companies like Active Garage Door Services and get professional service quickly! I did my research online and realized my issue was broken torsion springs. I called around to several companies but Joe was the only one to confidently say what he believed to be the problem based on my description of the problem (broken torsion springs are actually quite common with older garage doors). He said he'd need to take a look to be sure but was able to provide me a verbal quote over the phone with certain assumptions that we both agreed to. He was confident that he had the parts - he's worked on many homes in our area and we all pretty much have the same garage doors and he also keeps his truck stocked with inventory. He came out later the same day (within a couple of hours after my first contact with him). We reviewed the issue, and it was exactly what we had initially thought. We confirmed the price and they confirmed they had the parts and time to do the job right away. These guys don't mess around, they move QUICK and are CAREFUL. They were wrapped up in under an hour.
