As exceptional as the hospital is, its staff are equally outstanding--true leaders in their respective professional disciplines. In the world of rehabilitation, I consider the MGH Institute of Health Professions (MGH IHP) to be among the very best graduate medical education institutions in the nation, with world-renowned faculty and some of the brightest students anywhere. In my experience, many MGH IHP faculty members also practice full-time at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, and many members of Spaulding's professional staff are MGH IHP alumni. Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions are a confluence of academic excellence. That said, I go to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlestown for the best salad croutons in the world--and the absolute best corn muffins in the world! All kidding aside, I recall hearing the directors of Nutrition Services at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital explain that they consider high-quality, great-tasting food to be an integral part of their patient's healing process. Those women certainly practice what they preach! I say that from personal experience, having had lengthy inpatient admissions at both Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital over the years. The physicians and clinical staff at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital are among the very best. I can think of several Spaulding physicians and clinicians who stand out, in my opinion, as among the best in the world. I wouldn't wish the need for physical medicine rehabilitation at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital on anyone. However, should the need arise, there is tremendous comfort in knowing that such exemplary, World Class care is available at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, and here in Boston. I would also be remiss if I didn't mention how impressively well integrated my care at Spaulding is with my care at Massachusetts General Hospital. That coordination is yet another testament to the outstanding quality of care these two institutions provide. I don't know who it was, who many years ago, "accepted me" as an inpatient at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, while I was "pending disposition" to a Rehab Hospital at Massachusetts General Hospital. I remain especially grateful to that person, at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, for accepting me as an in-patient at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Lastly, I have many great physicians at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, but, I will never forget the physical medicine physician, who cared for me, during my inpatient admission at Spaulding, Dr. David Crandell. Similarly, Dr. Leonid Shinchuk, has taken exceptional care of me, over many years, as an outpatient.

St. Joseph staff made my sister feel she had a new family for her support and care. They also kept me appraised of her welfare and health with monthly meeting held over the phone during the patient / staff meeting for care and comfort. My visits are as wonderful the staff even treats me like their family. The daily schedule is filled with an attempt to keep the residents active and involved. The food and menu items are built around nutrition and health. Not to mention tasty and delicious. I also want to add the positivity that is so apparent in keeping the residents on a road to recovery, or making the very best in regard to each individuals reason for being at St.Joseph. Their new website, looks nothing like what the actual facility and staff that are under trained. They treat their patients, their residents and their families like a door mat. There was a guardian appointed to my mom whom was supposed to have my moms best interests in mind but did not at any time. My mom was a missing person from the state of Florida AND in the National Database for missing and exploited persons for 20 years when she was finally located in Massachusettes. Guardian made me take down my last review in order to get documents on my mom so I could carry out his arrangements as NOK, 8 days later my mom died from Hypoxia lack of oxygen to her brain. I don't see any legal notices neither did the persons working for Amesbury paper or Boston Online. I do not believe the guardian ever reported any of this to the courts and wouldn't give me the medical certificate necessary to petition the court. Elder Affairs took two complaints and within 2 hrs dismissed both because it is a licenced facility. We will see about that. MY MOMS LIFE MATTERED!!!! This is a nursing home. I've never agreed to put my dad in a nursing home. I wanted a rehabilitation center. So I just see how they do. They don't take care of my dad's They bathe them once a week. They don't wash his hair that I have to wash his hair myself and remove all the dead skin on his hair. They shaved them and they cut him after my father said I don't need to shave. He has Parkinson's so he needs physical therapy. He gets it but not enough for him to walk because according to the physical therapist, they need to cut his nails so it took three weeks and nothing no one did not come to cut his nails so I went and got a podiatrist paid $250 so they can come and cut my father's nails and still yet my father is not having therapy for him to walk. I'm tired of this place. They don't treat the patient are rude. Please don't put your parents in this place see for yourself. You will regret it. I suffer every day coming home to leave my in this place and I worry so much. I am looking to transfer him ASAP. He has been here for one month. Please take my word. Don't put your family member in this place.

I've been to/volunteered at a couple of nursing homes before. This place by far was the best! The room my aunt stayed in was a bit cramped as she was sharing it with another elderly patient. My aunt couldn't sleep well every night because the neighbor was really loud. And they charge about $3/day to watch tv. A bit weird and sad... The good thing about this place is that the nurses were very attending. Because my aunt only speak Cantonese, she was not able to communicate. The nurse asked me to ask whether my aunt is in pain and she would give her medicine if she is. I thought that was very nice. You really have to be attending and caring to be working at a facility like this!

I was hopeful about going here for PT until I started treatment. The space is really beautiful and…read morethey are pretty quick to get you in for an initial appointment (you need a script from your PCP first though) After one evaluation and 2 sessions, I realized they weren't experienced with treating chronic pain even though they knew that's what I came in for. I ended up getting pretty hurt because in my second session my overzealous PT had me do some exercises that just weren't appropriate for where I am at. Although at that session she explained that they probably weren't a great fit for me because they aren't used to chronic pain, I just wish I was told that outright. Or even at the end of the evaluation. The plus side of this place is that, unlike most PT offices, there is a lot of space and privacy when you meet with a PT. I'm sure they do a decent job with the generic one time knee/whatever injury kind of pain but because of my experience I wouldn't recommend them to a friend. *Note, they aren't at 280 Washington St anymore- they're at 20 Guest St. Brighton in the New Balance Building

I have received PT from multiple agencies over the past 10 years, including Kennedy Bros, ProSports…read moreand Mt Auburn, for different issues. But I have never had such rapid relief as I did when treated by Keith Foley. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with a herniated cervical disc with impinged nerve. I went to PT for 6 months with little improvement, although I lost fitness when the therapist had me stop all other fitness activities. Since then, I have lived with chronic daily pain in my neck and shoulders, as well as frequent migraines, despite having tried dry needling, acupuncture, trigger point injections and therapeutic massage. Most recently, I developed shoulder pain from a presumed rotator cuff tear, for which I received PT from Keith. Keith bases his treatment approach on the MacKenzie and Maitland methods. Google it - it makes sense. His practice is patient-centric, focused on how the injury functions within the patient's daily activities, the patient's other symptoms and response to treatment. Treatment includes daily exercises, but also mindful postural resets to be practiced throughout the day, when sitting, typing, standing, walking, sleeping. For the first time, I have a movement plan to treat increased symptoms when they occurred, including when to use pain meds. Keith focuses on patient education, and always teaches the rationale behind his treatment. For the first time in years, I have pain free days. I am using about a third of the medication I needed when I started seeing him 2 1/2 months ago. Keith is professional, articulate, sensitive and intelligent. Not only does he check in with how I am doing during the treatment, but he will also answer questions by email between sessions. He has also suggested literature and videos to support his treatment. I cannot recommend Keith Foley highly enough. Note that Keith may travel between Spaulding locations, so be sure to check his availability before registering. The office at Brighton Landing is clean, and spacious, with ample space for therapy without feeling you are involved in other patient's business. Treatment rooms are three-walled, with a full curtain for privacy. Keyed lockers and a shower room are available. Parking is free with a validated ticket in the garage across the street. The location is convenient to Soldier's Field Rd/Storrow Dr., in the building across from WGBH. The office staff is courteous and competent. I have not had trouble getting my preferred early morning time slots; they are also opened in the evening. Initially I waited a week for my evaluation.

Patients are treated with genuine care, and it clearly shows in the staff's daily interactions. As a private duty nurse working with individuals who have dementia, I have seen many facilities and never have I found one I would feel comfortable recommending for my own family an. South Cove Manor is an exception. I would confidently choose this facility if such care were ever necessary. The majority of residents are Asian, though the facility is welcoming to all. Staff members speak a variety of Asian languages, which is a significant benefit for residents and families. While I have not personally tried the food, I have not heard any complaints. Residents appear well-adjusted, well-supported, and consistently cared for at a high level--something I cannot say about most places in this industry. A+
