Today, we had an extremely unpleasant towing experience with Marcos, and I would not recommend Action Towing because of it. My wife got a flat tire in San Gabriel, and ordered a tow through AAA. A while later, we get a call from the tow driver, Marcos, who said he was at the location. My wife told him she did not see him, and that on the map that AAA provided, he was down the street. Marcos then berated my wife telling her that she gave the wrong address and that she needs to be careful and more specific when entering the location, and that we were in a different city from the address listed. Mind you, AAA is the one that provides the location and provides a map, and the address he was at was not even 5 minutes down the road. Accusing your customer of entering the wrong address is very unprofessional, and it was something we didn't even do. A few minutes later and Marcos arrives at our location, and said that "AAA gave him the wrong address," and asks us if we have a spare, we say no. (We received this car from a family member, and they told us we didn't have a spare). Marcos proceeds to drive the car on the bed of the truck, scraping our front bumper on the bed of the tow truck. My wife and I leave for the tire store in a separate vehicle and arrive there before Marcos. Marcos drove the car down off the truck, again scraping the bumper of the car on the tow bed, and proceeds to tell us that we did have a spare and to "not trick the driver." Mind you, we did not know we have a spare, and it means he opened our trunk without our permission. There was literally no reason for him to do this, and again demonstrates how unprofessional Marcos was. I opened the trunk of my wife's car, and sure enough, items were moved to the side indicating that someone moved the items in the back of our trunk to check for the spare. I have to ask, what would we even gain by "tricking" the tow driver to say we didn't have a spare tire? Why did he feel the need to open the trunk without our permission? In short, Marcos was unprofessional, accusatory, invaded our privacy, and did not treat us, nor our vehicle with respect. I would absolutely NOT recommend Action Towing, and I think AAA should end their partnership with them. read more

Have you ever turned the key (old school technology) and nothing... not even a sound beyond that haunting click followed by silence. So in disbelief, I tried again, bupkis! Being mechanical illiterate, I over compensate with the AAA membership. It is so worth it! Action Towing was dispatched and arrived in under 30 minutes. Masoud called as he arrived and greeted me with a chilled bottle of water. He was very kind and knowledgeable. His van was well stocked with a variety of batteries to quickly test and assist and replace my dead battery. He also provided good advice about not letting the fuel pump work too hard by always having at least a quarter tank of gas and best not to go below half on the road. The entire transaction was less than half an hour. Very grateful for the convenience and excellent experience to an unfortunate situation. read more

We were witnesses to a car accident yesterday at the intersection of Colorado blvd and San Gabriel blvd. Pasadena police called towing companies and we stayed with the person whose electric car was t boned and was not longer operable. The tow truck driver was pushy and told her that she had three options - he could tow her to a good mechanic that he knew in Los Angeles or tow her car to his facility and her insurance would pay for it but if she wanted to tow it to a repair center recommended by her insurance company she would have to pay him cash before he wound tow it. When we questioned him, he later said that it would cost her $285 to tow it less than a mile away and that the longer she waited to make her decision, the higher the fee would be. She contacted the repair facility that agreed to pay the fee upon delivery of the car to their facility. When we arrived at the repair shop, the owner questioned the tow truck driver as to whether he was an authorized Pasadena police department tow. The repair facility owner also stated that for police authorized tows, the standard is to pay by check and not cash. The tow truck driver said that he would accept credit card payment. Do not use action towing! He kept on pushing having her car towed to their facility without disclosing that there would be storage fees, that they do not repair vehicles and that she would have to contact her insurance company to have her car towed to a repair facility. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Triple A called this company to pick up my car, and the driver couldn't get the battery started, then he told me that my car could still be towed. But he told me that he was going to call for a smaller truck. I get a call from a lady in the office and she said that Triple A said to NOT TOW-my car without me being present. Which was a LIE! I spoke to Triple A and they said I just needed to show my car registration and insurance in order for them to tow my car. Which the driver NEVER ASKED FOR!-The driver just left, and then this company that did not tow my car or jump my battery-still tried to charge my account with Triple A for- NO SERVICE-that was provided to me. I spoke with Triple A and REPORTED THEM-that will not be on my account. I will informed Triple A not to EVER-have this company dispatched out to me to provide a service! I spoke to Triple A and they said they DO NOT Tell anyone to not Tow a car once they send them out. Liars! He called and made sure to update me how long it will take him to arrive and advised me on what to do while waiting (which is to stay put and don't drive the car to not worsen its state). He did the job very well, quickly, and efficiently. At the end, he told me to what to do next - make sure I get the tire patched & don't run my spare for more than 100-200 miles. This towing company is the worst company I had to work with. Not only did they have me waiting almost an hour for a jump start but the technician by the name of Rudy. B called me 4 minutes away from my location where I was stranded and said he couldn't service me. My disabled mom and I had been waiting about 50 minutes prior to that waiting in my car in the cold. Rudy refused to help us with a simple jumpstart that would have taken only 3 minutes of his time if that! No alternative options were given to us. Had my car towed by them. Idk who did it specifically, but I had a brand new pack of gum on my center console that was taken. I checked the floors and seats and everything else. I know it's just gum, but it's the principle of taking stuff that doesn't belong to you. Also, when one of the kids went to get my car he didn't know how to drive a stick shift. Instead of coming to get me or telling me the truth, he just attempted it himself and ran my engine at a higher rpm. Once again, a lack of integrity. I have the dashcam footage to prove it too. We were stuck on the 110 shoulder for two hours, because AAA was having issues and kept saying they were sending us somebody from another tow company and they never showed up. But finally we were saved by Jesse from action towing. It was a really unsafe area where we were and he was super sweet and told us to just wait in the car. He not only gave us our gas, but he also jumped the car since the battery had died since we had waited so long. I called to see if my car is still at their yard because yesterday my insurance company was told I hadn't released the vehicle yet - even though I had released it two days earlier. At any rate, this morning the woman who answered the phone refused to tell me if my car was there - she said "the office is closed, you'll have to call after 8 am". Good luck if your vehicle stops working on a holiday. Not enough personal or towing trucks going around to help a desperate customer in the middle of the night. This disaster lasted over 1 week and this company (while they start off being nice, show their ugly face when the batteries they sell do not work) 1st Visit, car wouldn't turn on, they replaced the battery 2nd visit - following week (I hadn't driven the car since the battery was replaced) and was told that I needed to "drive the car for 1 hour. Turn it off for 15 minutes, then turn it back on, if it turned back on, there wasn't an issue". I did this and it did turn on after 15 minutes. I thought this was the end of the issue. 3rd visit I tried turning on the car again 2 days later and was upset when it wouldn't turn on, I asked them to replace the faulty battery, It took Hassan over 24 hours to respond to my text. and when he did, he said I had an electrical leak somewhere and needed to take it into the mechanic. I took the car in and was told that there was nothing wrong with my car. I called Hassan @ Action Towing and he was extremely irritated when I told him he needed to replace the faulty battery and told me "It wasn't in my best interest to be upset" - I was mortified and scared, he knew where I lived. One week of dealing with a battery 1 visit to the mechanic I decided I would take it in to another mechanic. I took it to Fremont & Purdon (amazing quality of service). They kept the car over night. I was told that the battery Hassan gave me was never fully charged and that is where the issue was. They charged up the battery and I haven't had an issue since. Shame on this company for intimidating their customers. There wasn't a need to for me to shuffle my car to 2 different mechanics and it absolutely was NOT necessary to scare anyone with his intimidation of "its not in your best interest" knowing where I lived. read more

I had been in an accident and had no clue where to start. I called AAA and they sent out Hassan and he is the definition of going above and beyond. From the start he was so friendly. Having a calm and kind demeanor when helping someone who knows nothing about cars is so helpful. My car had a battery problem as well as many other problems from the accident. Hassan was patient as he helped remove my very difficult battery that was jammed by my fender. He even went the extra mile to check out what could be the possible root of the problem. When he found out some of the issues he warned me that my car was definitely not currently drivable and that the engine could possibly explode. (BOY did that save me so much money.) He walk me through step-by-step suggestions of what I should do next. That save me a lot of trouble because originally I was planning on just going to my mechanic and they wouldn't be able to do anything until I get it fixed by a body shop. So thank you so much Hassan! The last incredible thing he did was help call one of his guys to suggest some good body repair shops. normally AAA would call to give me a feedback survey but unfortunately this time it wouldn't work out. so I definitely needed to come onto Yelp and give Hassan an outstanding review.
