This might be the worst contracting company in all of Los Angeles County by far. I needed some minor work done (changing shower fixtures, window screen replacements, minor caulking around the tub, glass repair on two windows, and retexturing for a 30inch strip on the ceiling). For an experienced contractor and established company, you would think that this is an easy job. But no, this job took Action Services 5 days. The owner, John, sent his foreman, Joaquin, the first day around 9am and he was completely unprepared even though he had a list of everything he was supposed to do. After getting him up to speed, Joaquin said he had to leave and his workers would arrive in about 2 hours to start the work. 2 hours turned into 5.5 hours. Because of the late start, the workers were only able to complete half of the job. The work they did complete, was extremely sloppy. After their sloppy job on Day 1, I expressed to John that the work done was unacceptable. He came back the next day with the foreman and his workers, and it seemed as if we were all on the same page in regards to what needed to be fixed. After Day 2 everything seemed to be fine until the next morning on Day 3. On Day 3 the ceiling had discoloration because the workers did not use primer before painting. I called John to tell him the work was unacceptable and he said his workers would come by the next day to get it right. Sure enough, on Day 4, they never came and they never notified me that they wouldn't be able to make it. On Day 5, the foreman came with only one of his workers and he was able to complete the job on the 5th and final day. The best part of it all.... I was charged $1380. John, and Action Services are a bunch of clowns. This might be the worst contracting company in Southern California. To think, I ALMOST hired this guy to do MAJOR work on my other property. read more

I purchased two hours of plumbing services for $99 from Action Services. Action Services was not responsive to my emails. They responded to the first one about when to sechedule, but when I emailed back asking about the time window, they did not reply. i had to call them the day of the service to even find out what was going on. I asked the plumber about unclogging some drains. He said he forgot the equipment he needed for that. I asked the plumber to check on the toilet flush handles. He did check and said they, along with the flappers, should be replaced. I agreed. He then said that I would be charged an $85 trip charge. I don't remember reading that in the fine print! And nobody told me that when I scheduled! So, I assumed I would be charged $85 for the trip to cover his extra time, and I would still get two hours of service at my home. NOPE! THE CLOCK WOULD STILL BE RUNNING WHILE HE WENT TO THE STORE! Then what is the trip charge for?! I called Action Services and explained about getting ripped off, and I was hoping it was a simple misunderstanding by the plumber. NOPE! The best they could offer me was to still not pause the clock, but allow me to have some free overage over the two hours! The two hour clock not stopping, plus an $85 trip charge, basically means I was double-charged for the same time. This, to me, is tantamount to theft. I considered just telling the plumber to leave my house and then to have no service, and try my best to get a refund, but I decided they probably wouldn't want to give me a refund, etc. So I let him continue, expecting him to at least be able to help with my other issues and try and salvage some value of this. The plumber did go to the store and replace the toilet flush handles and flappers. This is the only item of significance that the plumber did for me. I asked the plumber to help identify a water hammer. We tried to reproduce it but couldn't. He said he couldn't do anything about it without seeing it. I read online about water hammers previously, and asked if he could flush the system as I had read, and he either said he could not, or that it wouldn't do anything. I asked the plumber to go underneath the house to help identify the water hammer and to check for any loose pipes, but he said it wasn't included in the deal. I don't remember reading this in the fine print! He did stick his head down there but it didn't really help. At the end of the day, I ended up spending over $300 just to replace three toilet flush handles and flappers. $99 for the two hours of plumbing service, $85 for a bogus "trip charge", and about $125 for parts. I'm okay paying for parts, but I'm not okay with the trop charge, and I'm not even okay paying for the two hours of plumbing service, because the plumber was unprepared and wasn't able to do things I needed him to do. How can Action Services fix this for me? By refunding the $85 trip charge and half of the $99 (which is generous, because I got less than half of what I thought I would). Alternatively, if Action Services wants to send a different plumber out for free to unclog a couple drains and fix my water hammer, I'll call it even. read more

The water heater issue was not resolved. I called Action and they ordered a part that would need to be sent to my home directly. It took a full 7 days to arrive. I contacted Jasmin and she scheduled for a technician to come out. I was not informed that it would cost me another $85 for them to install the part. I had already paid $135 for them to do a quick fix that didn't work. Luckily, my husband talked to the tech, Gilbert and he showed him how to install the part AND re-install tray that was never replaced the first time. Very disappointed in this service. If you do business with them, make sure you know the fee's for service. read more

If you want something totally ruined, Action Services are your guys. We hired Action Services to do a small remodel of three bathrooms, involving a retile and new fixtures and toilets. What we got were crooked tiles, fans installed askew, a shower door that doesn't close properly, all done with shabby bargain bin materials. Two weeks later, the shower they installed started leaking through the ceiling and we've had to hire someone else to REPAIR THE HORRIBLE WORK THEY DID. They had a guy who described himself as a "hobbyist" tiling without spacers, who would take extended breaks to regale us with tales of his daughter's meth cook boyfriend who blew up his own face. His superior, Juan-Carlos, was a competent worker but consistently showed up 2 hours late, or not at all. In charge of them all is the smarmy Gil, who disappeared the moment we complained about the poor quality, avoiding our calls and being "unavailable". Gil preferred instead to let his subordinates take the heat while he sat in his car. After they finished their sloppy art-project of a job, they had the nerve to send us a bill for work that THEY DID NOT EVEN DO, amounting to an extra 1000 dollars. Now we're going to have to find some decent contractors to fix the horrible work they've done and clean up their terrible mess. Save yourself a headache and don't work with these amateurish crooks. For shitty, expensive work that you'll have to fix later, John Santore's Action Services are the guys for the job. read more

I'm not surprised to see there are mainly bad reviews for this horrible company. I don't want to spend any more of my valuable time dealing with these jokers, so I will keep this short (but definitely not sweet). This company was called to replace our tankless water heater. While repairing it, the repair man soldered the flex line which caused a slow gas leak. They never once offered to come out to take a look to see if everything was okay even though I called several times complaining about a smell emanating from the room the repair was done. They simply gave suggestions on how I could clean up after their mess. Once it was determined there was a gas leak (3.5 months later), there was no apology or any sense of concern. I've gotten nothing but push back including from the owner. They complain that I've been rude to them because I'm extremely upset by their complete lack of understanding why this is such a big deal to me and my family. I can't say enough bad things about this company's horrible service - on the front and the back end. John the owner is rude. Gil the repairman is incompetent. Maria was nice, but only after I specifically asked for an apology. She told me that she would be just as upset as I was in this situation. Jasmine could care less. Honestly, just a group of bad eggs. Do yourself a favor and do NOT use this company for anything unless you want a gas leak or something. read more

I scheduled an appointment, waiting over 1 week because it was an Angie's list coupon. I am sure that was the issue, COUPON CLIENT....NO PROBLEM THEY'LL WAIT!!!! It was a specific date (Monday) and time frame 8-12, which coincided with my gardner on Monday mornings and I have to be there to lock up my dogs. So after taking the ENTIRE morning off, instead of the normal hour off work I am told the time was sheduled 1 -4, not 8-12 as I had been told originally. WRONG...I would never schedule work in the afternoon on a Monday....this is a given!! They simply moved my appointment around to sui t" their schedule", absolutley!! I demanded my money back from Angies coupon deal, and they could not possible care any less either....TOTAL RIP OFF.....DON'T USE THESE JERKS!! read more

We have used John Santore's Action Services at two of our homes and have been very happy. We were told by another contractor that our foundation was cracked and it would cost 4k dollars. John went under the house and confirmed it was only stucco cracking and was well above the foundation. We have since had him open up two walls creating an open floor plan, remodel the kitchen, and just finished a bathroom. We were able to stay in the house for the bathroom remodel and his team was very good at working around us. I know we slowed them down a bit. The house came out great and the credit goes to action services. John thought of things we didn't that put it over the top. Nice to work with a company you can trust. read more

John is upfront, honest, friendly and approachable. He is a good listener for what you want, while also providing his own input and expertise into the project. We did a full kitchen, living room and bathroom remodel. Like any project of that size and scope, there are always a few surprises that pop up along the way. which can create stress and anxiety, but John was calm and cool throughout the entire process. If something wasn't completed to 100% satisfaction, he would make sure it was completed to exactly what you want. His team of guys are polite and respectful. My wife and I can't recommend John Santore enough! He first did a small bathroom project for us in Long Beach in 2013. It turned out great! After we moved in 2015 he did a MAJOR remodel on our new home in Los Alamitos . Removed several wall (some load bearing), all new large kitchen, new electrical, plumbing, flooring, windows, doors, stone work, tile work, removal of popcorn ceiling, paint, etc. He handled all the plans & permits, He's very easy to work with, easy to get a hold of, and very important he's upfront and honest. We had vetted several contractors and some came in with slightly lower numbers... but I swear you get what you pay for and John was well worth the money. Several neighbors in our new neighborhood have already now used him too. Disregard the naysayers, I'm guessing they have some personally issues or don't understand the nature of construction:-) ...again HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

I called Action Service for a bid on replacing my complete roof, they called to set up and appointment and were there on time and very friendly, taking pictures to show me the damage and detailed estimate on what it would cost to replace my roof. They came in a little lower then the other 2 bids and as I had read some very good reviews I went with them. They replaced my roof in a reasonable time and started and stopped each day at a good time as to not disturb my neighbors. I had one small problem and they came out right away and fixed. John Santore's Action Services was recommended to me by another happy customer. I had a small job in mind, just wanting to replace my kitchen counter tops, sink, and faucet. I met with John and he then sent me a bid. We met again and he went over the contract, which was pretty clear and standard. It handled issues others have had with contractors and it pleased me to have that all in writing. The work got schedule pretty quickly. The workmen were all very thorough, polite, professional, and on time, even a bit early! The workmanship was top notch and everything looks so good now. John kept in touch, making sure the work was going as planned. The plumber tasted the faucet and then put a piece of cardboard underneath the sink and told me to check later and if there were any leaks, to call. There was a very minor leak, one drop per hour, so I called and now it's fixed and everything is wonderful. read more

An elderly woman living in Long Beach, CA needed her water heater repaired. First repair person, Gilbert, said he needed $150.00 to order the part. Her son in law stayed at the house until Gilbert arrived and paid Gilbert the money in cash. Said it would take a week to ten days to arrive. When she called Action, Mary told her that if she wanted it quicker, to call Whirlpool and have them ship it overnight but she would have to pay for shipping, she did. The next day, another service person came out and said he didn't understand why Gilbert didn't install it since it is usually on the truck. The new service person installed it for another $145.00 which she paid. John at Action when called by the woman said her initial money would be paid back when Gilbert gets back from vacation. They have not paid the woman and do not return phone calls. They are actually owned by Elite Allstar Inc and only doing business as Action Services. Buyer BEWARE! From previous reviews here Gil or Gilbert is also mentioned. This seems to be there method of operation. By the way, the fee was just for labor since the water heater was under warranty from Whirlpool, which is my next contact. read more
