March of 2024 submitted request for bids on new roofing project for home. Sent out many bid request…read moreand had reply from 3 that was probabilities. The others no response or upon review of respondents capabilities proved not acceptable. April of 2024 chose Whitlock roofing and obtained measurements and preparation for install. May, work was done. Inspector came out and passed roof construction. June of 2024 we noticed some glaring problems in construction. Whitlock came out and worked on problem replacing entire sections of roof. Patching minor glitches and construction oversight flaws. For the last year I have studying the roof wandering what is wrong with it. It seems off somehow. After studying many and I mean many roofs of metal construction. I have noticed a glaring difference from other construction and ours. All roofs of metal construction are squared along the bottom seam around the house. Using the manufactures flat edge as the common line. Looking at ours I find that the bottom edge of our home is not cut but bent under. With any seems and or ridges having metal strip or edging folded over or around it. This gives the roof a jagged uneven line around the bottom edges. From a distance it looks off some how. A closer look revels a hacksaw blade appearance following the edge around the home. This hacksaw blade look is what has been troubling me for the past year. Each panel is longer or shorter than the next panel adjacent to it. Looks like a saw blade laid on its side. I do not know if this will hamper longevity of the roofing material. The warranty duration. Leaks and other environmental elements, which could shorten roofing material life. It is however an item that keeps me from giving a 5 star review. It does not give the finished roof a clean square install look. As the other roofs of metal construction seem to exhibit from far and close viewing. This install and several other factors result in a three star review. I can not give a four star because of glaring problems in construction that never happened or installation resulted in something other than what was discussed during pre installation. The roof has not leaked during the last year following construction. This is a plus. However it has not improved in appearance and still has lingering concern over possible future problems because of the folded edges and hacksaw blade appearance. It is very uneven and jagged looking. With many parts folded that may result in water damming in joints and early rusting, or material failure. Time will tell, as it always does.

They took hours longer than they said they would, with workers laying on the porch smoking cigarettes and texting. That was only the beginning. That night I went outside to find water POURING - not dripping - from the gutters. It was too late to call them back, so I headed off to bed, only to find large water stains on a sagging ceiling. The next morning when I let my dog out, I immediately spotted several nails on the porch. The water, was still pouring from the gutters, and I called Custom to let them know the problem. I mentioned the nails on the porch, and the supervisor on the line said they must have fallen from the roof overnight. I asked him why there would be loose nails on the roof, to which he had no reply. He dispatched a foreman to assess the situation, who apologetically acknowledged the ceiling damage and the flooding perimeter. Having lost trust, I called a friend who's in construction to come and accompany this foreman on the roof. While they were up there, I started noticing, not just one or two - but PILES of nails all over the place. It would take me several days to fill a large plastic container with nearly SIX POUNDS of nails and several cigarette butts. Meantime, my guy identified that the leaking water problem was caused by the swamp cooler, which had NOT ONLY NOT been properly reconnected, the float had been severely mangled. My guy managed to get the swamp cooler running for the time being - this was last August, but I would later find out there was more severe damage to it that would cost much more to repair than I was ultimately credited by the company. By the time this foreman left, I had been further disrespected on the phone by the supervisor, who wanted to send his crew back to repair the damage, all while I should have been at my husband's side at the hospital. I lost all trust in these unprofessional, rude, bumbling clowns, and insisted on getting professionals to do the repairs. As monsoon season proceeds this summer, doubtless many will have hail damage to their rooves. DON'T GIVE THESE GUYS the opportunity to cause more damage and disrespect you. They are not worth the hassle.

On the job, the crew was fast and efficient and left the area in great shape. I especially appreciated that Jesse was willing to deal with repairing a skylight/built-in solar hot water heating system, rather than taking it out completely, as some other roofers had advised. Anyhow he looked at my roof and then said he'd send me an estimate and I never heard from him again. I've looked at the reviews and it's odd that he has some good ones. Turns out we had issues with our roof that not many wanted to deal with. Another roofer who came to look at our roof told us why we weren't getting any follow-up and then he didn't follow-up either. The problem with contractors in this city is a lot of them are flakes. They don't show up or they don't follow through. I won't say he's a bad roofer. I would just hope that contractors could be a little more professional overall.

I called the first year and they came out to address the concerns. It appears this year, they say it's my fault it's leaking because I did no maintenance. I thought the previous year's work was maintenance, they said no, since I did not pay for it. This is disappointing and their staff were very rude throughout this communication. I would suggest you avoid this business which is not BBB certified.
