ABA can sometimes seem daunting and scary (especially if you do a google search), but my son absolutely adores his therapists. He is sad if a session is cancelled! The billing and insurance department is the best I have ever come across in the healthcare field. I have been absolutely blown away by how thorough and competent they are in dealing with complex billing issues. We have had 3 insurance changes (and are about to have another) and each time they have done a fantastic job explaining copays, benefits, etc before services are provided. The response time to emails is usually minutes. They truly care about what they are doing and the families they serve. A+ ABA Connect! They are really a part of our family. :-)

That was me before we switched away from KidTherapy and to another PT. My daughter saw Jenny for PT about 3 times before we switched. The front desk staff are nice, but Jenny started our sessions 5-10 minutes late all 3x (which is significant when the session is only 30 minutes). She would oftentimes be rushing through the front door when we were in the lobby as her first patient for the day. She was a lovely person, but now it angers me to realize how my daughter was not receiving proper guidance & care. During our evaluation she took zero notes; just drew little drawings to try to show me what exercises to do at home. The evaluation at the other office had a full rubric/the PT took notes on her computer, etc. Multiple times Jenny would tell me "You should be a PT!" when I would share my observations of my daughter's gross motor skills. And I kept thinking "I'm only doing this because she's not receiving the guidance that she needs." I would leave appointments feeling more overwhelmed and had more questions than I arrived having. Jenny would frequently ask me to remind her what we did last time or what exercises we were working on; things that should have been recorded by the professional we were paying for the session. Overall, it was not a professional experience and I was right to trust my gut and try a different therapy center, because the difference has been night and day. My daughter has made more progress elsewhere in 1 session than she did in 3 sessions over 1.5 months at KidTherapy.

I loved the girl I spoke to. I really would have looked into this place further if it wasnt at minimum 32 minutes away from my house - probably an hour during peak traffic - all the way back to RR/Gtown area. I also discovered the sessions are only 4 hours total. This would significantly decrease the amount of time she got weekly and it just wasn't going to work for our schedule. In addition, they charge you for every mile of a certain # for the Fridays that an RBT or BCBA drives to your house, plus whatever fees were involved. Speaking of fees, they wanted $300 to start therapy here, something they said they don't bill to insurance. This was just not going to work for us but i'm sure it is an amazing facility for those it is a better fit for.

I have twins of 4 years old, and they both are diagnosed as Autism. they were a delay in communication and always used single word till the age of 4. From October 2018 we were a part of Building Blocs, and we started Speech Therapy for my girls with Ms. Laura and Ms. Erin. Really, they both are awesome and now we are feeling the improvements slowly with our kid's communication. Their eye contacts improved, they started using sentences. I am really happy to see the improvements. We decided to start ABA Therapy for our kids in Building Blocs, from mid of February the services will get a start. We are so excited about that. The services in front desk and the with insurance are awesome. Actually, I was worried when we started the ABA assessment because I thought the waiting list will be long. I was really disappointed with the lack of COVID precautions they are taking. There was no…read moretemperature scan or screening questions asked upon entry. The therapists were using the small waiting room to meet with families both before and after our appointment. I was not expecting to have to wait in the waiting room, especially not when there was another family there. They still have a paper sign in sheet and community pen! No hand sanitizer out for patients after using the pen either. Given the nature of their work, I was really expecting a safer environment. I did not feel safe there and we will not be back.

My little one saw Erin Gonzalez here for speech therapy for six months. Three-four stars for the…read moretherapy content and one for the billing nonsense at the end. Erin is very sweet with children and kiddo enjoyed the speech therapy. She had a few tips that stuck and my little one's enunciation - which wasn't horrible, but was a bit behind peers - did improve during that time. At the end of six months, based on feedback from kiddo's teacher and some other educational figures, as well as my /grandparents/coparent's perception of moderate improvement, we decided to close out the therapy sessions. Erin looked a bit disappointed when I told her the final date, but was professional enough. She insisted that she would "re-assess" progress during that day's session, instead of going over the usual consonant sounds. She sold it a bit - kept talking about it - and I agreed, thinking it was harmless enough to have a written record of progress. The initial assessment at our first visit had been priced the same as the ensuing therapy sessions, so I wasn't worried about pricing. Erin went over her "re-assessment" of kiddo upon our return. My initial perception was that she showed the need for speech therapy as more extreme than assessed at our first visit. There was a minimal nod in one segment to minor progress. There were multiple areas where the report seemed to show regression. It was a bit alarming and my first thought was that she was far less happy about our quitting than she had expressed. Thinking I might not remember the initial assessment accurately, I compared the two reports when I arrived home. My initial instinct was correct. The second surprise arrived a month or two later. A bill (despite our having paid the usual co-pay at the visit) for THREE TIMES the co-pay. Almost $200. Because Tesoros had billed insurance differently, this "re-assessment" had been assessed differently in connection with our deductible and the insurance wouldn't pay. Calls to Tesoros (it took a week of daily calls to get a person on the line) resulted in a circular explanation of how they bill re-assessments. They couldn't explain why it would *need* to be done on a child's next-to-last visit, or why it was billed at a higher rate and filed with insurance differently than the initial assessment. After months of going back and forth with them, I've reported them to my insurance company's fraud team, paid the bill to avoid a credit report ding, and am reviewing them here. It's left us with a very sour impression of what was, otherwise, quite a harmless and neutral experience.
