They did a great job. Our carpet looks great. The next time we need our carpet cleaned, we would definitely use them again.

This was the third time we have had Act 1 do our flooring, but the first time we had them do the carpet, too. Frank is a great guy and a hard worker. He had been on each previous job with an assistant, but this time his wife, Lori, was the 'helper'. She is very nice, and dedicated, too. We have a large home with travertine and carpet on both levels. The stone cleaning and sealing included the travertine in the Master shower, too. Frank got right to it, starting with the upstairs master bath, while Lori vacuumed and pre-spotted. Frank did most of the floor cleaning machine work and they both shared in sealing all the travertine after it dried. They worked very hard and fast throughout the day, with very little break/rest time. I don't even recall them stopping for lunch. Our 20+ year old floors and carpet came out looking great! I have recommended Act 1 to many friends and will continue to do so. read more

Act One cleaned my cream sofa and chair - it was oversaturated and so the piping bled or "browned out." I was appalled that the sofa/chair was now in worse condition than before it was cleaned. Act One subcontracted another cleaning company (Beacon) to bleach the stains out of the cushions for the most part, but it proved to be temporary and the stains have slowly came back. They are full-blown worse than they were when they tried to correct it. The stains are only along the piping as brown out. There were not any stains like that before at all. In fact the only reason I had the sofa cleaned was to refresh it after a move to a new house. The sofa and chair were a perfectly cream-colored set purchased at Laguna design center with a minor stain on the back of the chair. I called Act One about the stains coming back today, and the wife Lori started raising her voice at me, said "we aren't doing anything for you", there were pee stains (??-not true) and hung up. I mean really nasty--at least take responsibility for your work and try to work something out. You can't oversaturate white sofa piping, and a good upholstery cleaner KNOWS this. My high-end furniture is ruined, and it is the fault of Act One for oversaturating it. read more

5/11/21 Act I tech, Brandon, showed up in a rush after he parked his van in my driveway and blocked my car. I asked him why he blocked my driveway; he told me not to worry because he would be gone in "30" minutes (30 minutes to clean two large rooms, my stairs, load his equipment, clean up? Sounded like a rushed job!) That was red flag #1. He had been at my home less than 5 minutes when I walked outside and saw his beaten up looking truck with "BEATO CARPET CLEANING" sign on it...not "ACT 1 CARPET CLEAING" Tech told me my carpet cleaning job had been contracted out to him. His truck looked dirty, dilapidated, old. I told him I was calling owner & asked him to wait for 2 minutes. He refused. He said was very busy and didn't have time to wait. 2 minutes later I heard his truck leave. I am having company at my home this weekend and now have dirty carpets! When I reached Lori, owner, she told me she has contracted Brandon for past 3 years without problems. Lori agreed to book me the next day and apologized...but overall a horrible first impression of their business. Request Frank! read more

I came across these folks last minute as a referral from my realtor when another cleaner canceled day prior to job due to mechanical issues. Act 1 was able to get to me the next day on short notice which was critical as the movers were coming the following day. I needed the 3yo carpet in my new home stretched and cleaned. As I was in a rush with the other cleaner's late cancelation I gave them the quote from the previous cleaner and told them "as long as you're not higher; we're set. If higher, then I still want to clean, but NOT stretch the carpet." The next day they arrived early with clean equipment; did a perfect job (can't even see where the creases were after the stretching (4" total stretch)); and came in $76 CHEAPER knowing what the previous quote was ahead of time. THIS IS SOMEONE YOU WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH! Anyone else would have minimally honored the same price; they saved me $76 when they didn't have to. When the movers were finished moving out of my old house which I'm renting; I had them come over and clean that house this week too and the carpet looks brand new. Two crews came out to clean our hardwood floors and carpet areas. The crew the did the down stairs did a wonderful job and cleaning and moving the furniture back to the right place. The crew upstairs did a nice job cleaning but seemed too tired to do it right in putting the Furniture back and items back where they came from. I would definitely hire them again but would only allow the crew that did my downstairs back and would not allow the upstairs back as they had less to do upstairs than the crew downstairs and just ran out of steam despite paying the $125 furniture moving fee. If you cannot get the right crew pass and go elsewhere. read more

12/12/13: IF YOU DECIDE TO ONLY READ A LITTLE, JUST SKIP TO THE BOTTOM. 7/22/12: Persistent getting in the door, w/ "a deal" on sealing some grout. Frank told me it would be a 5 to 6-hour job & almost $600 (for a 3 bed condo, which is all tile, EXCEPT for bedrooms). I called ACT1 because a flyer was left on my desk; I thought it was left by my housekeeper, who'd said the tile/grout needed cleaning. Anyway, Frank & his partner began upstairs and appeared to be cleaning it (2 small bathrooms & a hall) for 2 hours. As they began cleaning their way down the stairs to do the all-tile bottom floor, I left. When I returned in 90 minutes (over an hour earlier than I'd intended), they were packing up their van to split. 90 minutes to clean approx. 1,000 sq. ft. & seal 1/2 that?! When all of the tile dried (even upstairs), it looked no different than $600 prior. My husband noticed no change either, and then when our our housekeeper came, I told her that we had the tile professionally cleaned. Her eyes bugged out! "By who?!" she screeched. I told her. Her reply:"No, oh no, oh no, no, no!!" and "I'm sorry...you wasted your money...this is not clean...!!" When she asked how much I paid, and I told her, she looked at me as if I was the village idiot. Then, she sprayed Simple Green on grout in an out-of-the-way area upstairs and wiped it clean with a white towel, which came out filthy. And the grout underneath looked cleaner than in years. She said, "You should have asked them to see the towels they used to wipe up the dirt....did you see them [the towels]?" Nope. I didn't see one towel. She kept saying "They took your money, they took your money..." I've written Frank/ACT1 since they were here and I haven't received a response. Two laborers here for 3 hours. $600. Why would they not try to explain why they took the money and ran? I concluded that ACT1's flyer was front porch junkmail that missed the trashcan, and either my family thought I might want it. An expensive mistake. My bad. 12/12/13: UPDATE, long overdue and almost forgotten. On 6/9/13, I received the following email from ACT I: "Will you please consider removing your bad yelp review. About a year sentence seems to have been enough punishment. We would really appreciate it." I replied: "Your company never offered me a remedy. I did not get what I paid for... It was not a punitive review towards your company, rather, my intention was to help others avoid being ripped off, disappointed, and frustrated, as I have been." AND FINALLY, THE BEST ACT I EMAIL OF ALL: 6/10/13- "The Good Lord continues to grow and prosper us. It has been our biggest year yet. There will always be a bad review regardless of a business's full intent is to do well all the time like we do. Majority of our business is from personal experience referrals, We will continue to thrive regardless of one bad review. Online yelp shoppers are not usually the most solid shoppers anyways ....so I hope we both can find peace and joy in our hearts so that things like this are very small in comparison to big life issues. So I have learned a good lesson to not take yelpers opinions as always valid and be sure to reconsider that the customer may be issue not the business. So I will put this review to rest." read more
