This Thanksgiving I was treated with an amazing feast from ACT Catering. It's an unusual Thanksgiving due to Covid so my family skipped the big celebration to be on the safe side and stay healthy. I was unbelievably impressed by the food included in my Thanksgiving for order! Everything came packed in compostable & recyclable packaging. Instructions were included and the food was easy to heat, assemble, and serve. The use of seasonal ingredients in their menu was so incredibly tasty. Everything was seasoned perfectly! Oh my goodness, where do I begin with my absolute adoration of ACT??? ACT Catering was a preferred caterer with my wedding venue (Chabot Space & Science Center). I was trying to plan a budget-friendly wedding and was honestly feeling very unsure about booking with a preferred caterer. To be completely honest (because I know I'm not alone in this), I wasn't sure if I would get good food at the right price from a more limited number of caterers, and I've heard similar skepticism from my other friends who were planning weddings around the same time as me. ACT proved me wrong and I am so, so, SO glad I chose to work with them!!!! When I was in the research-gathering stage of planning, they were completely understanding of that part of the process and provided me with detailed, transparent proposals to help me make the most informed decision possible. That was so important to me because booking a caterer was the biggest cost of my wedding, and they were so understanding of that! I never felt like I was asking too many questions, and in fact I felt like they wanted me to have all of the information I wanted/needed to make my decision. I gathered quotes from every vendor on our preferred caterer list, and working with ACT was a no-brainer. My primary contact was Brie, and there are not enough words to describe how wonderful she is. She made us feel like we were the only event she was coordinating (which was totally not true, they're busy bees and I now understand why!). She was so patient with all of the back and forth as I asked for different quotes for different inclusions (e.g., rentals, amount of food, drinks), and made sound recommendations when I told her which aspects of the planning I wanted to save money on. I never felt pressured or upsold - she met me where I was at and really helped me achieve my goals within that range. When you work with her, she is on your team and all in for you! Because she had worked with our venue so much, she knew ALL of the ins and outs of working there and gave us so much helpful feedback for how to schedule the wedding and set up the space so it was elegant and fun, but also functional. On the day of the wedding, the ACT team was professional, prompt, attentive, and thorough. They got our space set up SUPER quickly, our food was fresh and delicious, and they made sure guests had anything they needed all night long. We got so many compliments on our food after the wedding, someone even asked for the salad recipe so they could recreate it on their own! Working with ACT and Brie was one of the best decisions I made for my wedding day. I recommend them so, SO highly!! read more

I hired ACT Catering for our wedding at Hacienda de las Flores in August 2021. I was blown away when Kristine hit the nail on the head with the menu after our initial conversation. I could not have envisioned something more delicious and fun. I described our wedding plans and some thoughts on the food we wanted - my husband is Indian and we wanted flavorful food that would be interesting and tasty. The food was beautiful, delicious, flavorful and fun! Kristine was very receptive and communicative and a pleasure to work with. Her team was really wonderful for the tasting and day-of as well. In addition to the food, Kristine was able to help out with our wedding chairs and lighting which was just what I wanted. I truly appreciate Kristine and her team. I feel like I've discovered a secret. At the time of writing this review, ACT Catering only has 8 reviews! Our first sample of ACT was their Thanksgiving menu. We're not huge fans of traditional turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce, so when we saw the vegetarian menu of stuffed bell peppers with jackfruit, warm artichoke and persimmon salad, sweet potato and bread stuffing, olive oil mashed potatoes, and purple yam cake with graham cracker crust and coconut milk topping, we were immediately intrigued. We ordered shortly before they sold out. All we can say is, wow. The food rivals the best meals we've had at Millennium and Gather, which is all the more impressive given that it was delivered and reheated. Instructions were easy to follow: eg, heat in the oven at 325 for 20 minutes, serve at room temperature, etc. Even the presentation was lovely, and we had no trouble plating the food so that it looked much tastier than typical takeout. Also, the portions were huge. We divided the meal into two dinners for two. It was 5 courses, so we had 2 courses plus half of the dessert each night. For the quality of the food alone, the price was very reasonable. Similar quality and quantity at other restaurants would cost up to double. We will definitely try their regular menu next. We had no idea such a delicious restaurant was hiding just an online order away. read more

I ordered their Valentine's Day meal for two it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. First, it was so much food for such a great price! I was worried that it would be small dishes since it was 5 courses, but nope! Tons of food. Second, my boyfriend fell in love with the chimichurri sauce. Everything was delicious but this sauce specifically stood out because it just paired well with every dish. Third, the instructions were super easy for reheating. The absolutely highest quality shelter-in meals I've had since COVID. Lastly, the customer service was so kind and so accessible! Each dish is intricate in the use of spices and sauces, with someone carefully crafting a delicious and healthy meal. It is great value for the cost and you will get hooked like I have. Wonderful, Delicious, and Professional! The 3 words I would use to describe ACT Catering. In a year with more than the average number of weddings Kristine and her team were amazing at being responsive and accommodating. I reached out to over 10 caterers initially in the planning stages and ACT stood out from the rest from the first outreach. Their team was able to cater (pardon the pun) to our needs for the setting which was outdoors with a bar and stationary hors d'oevres. Their team listened to our needs around the vision while providing their own expertise having catered at UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens before. They were able to help lay out the space in planning for a seamless event. The team has worked on many different types of events including weddings so they were able to get our event set up and executed without any issues. During our wedding their team coordinated with the venue independently saving us a lot of time. Also, their team worked with our schedule for a tasting and they suggested foods for our needs to include a menu that was amenable to dietary restrictions. On the day of the event they ran the event, cleanup, and cake cutting and serving seamlessly for a fantastic event. Kristine and her associate, Lily Yang, planned and executed an incredible post-wedding "bagels and dim sum" brunch for 65 people at our San Rafael home on July 24, 2016. Planning the event was a joy--Kristine and Lily brought tasting samples to our home and adjusted the menu to meet our needs, including finding wood-fired Montreal-style bagels for our family's picky palettes. From this point on, Kristine and Lily handled everything, including table & equipment rentals. They appeared at our house two hours before the event, set up food, drinks, and dessert stations as well as umbrellas, tables and chairs. They brought and prepared the four Chinese salads, dim sum, bagels & pita, cream cheeses & humus, sliced vegetables, fruit plate, and almond cookies, even hand-slicing the lox on-site. Service by their crew of three was impeccable, from the champagne/OJ/ water server to the prompt replenishing of the buffet to the courteous clearing of guests' empty plates. And the food!! Our guests repeatedly commented on how delicious it was, and they kept requesting Kristine's business card. One friend said that she wanted to get her son married, just so she could hire ACT catering for the reception. Cleanup after the event was prompt and thorough. A little too thorough, actually, since the boxed wedding cake for the couple departed with them. But as soon as this was discovered, Lily made a special trip back to our house to make sure it was available when the couple came to finally get a taste of their cake. They did a wonderful job: terrific food, great waiter staff, very accomodating to our needs, flexible and willing to work with our budget needs. I cant imagine anything better.
