Five years ago I started a journey towards becoming a pilot. That journey began at First Landings…read moreand I could not be more thankful. The school is run by a team of professionals that take your flight training as far as you want to go with a pace that matches your lifestyle. The rates for training beat out the competitors while delivering a product that is more personal and productive. The training area is right next to First Landing's home airport (X04) and this is a huge advantage. While training you do not have to waste money and time getting to where you need to practice. The airport is also between several other airports making it an ideal training environment. I pursued my Instrument, Commercial, Flight Instructor, Instrument Flight Instructor, and sport plane Instructor licenses from First Landings. While doing so I was able to compare my experiences with students at other schools. What I found was that not only did I save money, but my training was more productive. Following this I taught for First Landings for several years as a Flight Instructor. The experiences I have gained there have been invaluable in making me the pilot I am today. Thanks to these experiences at First Landings my peers and I are all working for the airlines living the dreams we set out for. If you are looking for a flight school this is the one and there is no better time to start your journey with the schothat will make your dreams a reality.

Nice newer buildings, and overall a well maintained little airport. Men's restroom was a little dirty, not too bad. Fuel price was $4.50 a gallon for Avgas, which is about as cheap as you're going to find in the area. Fuel pump does not take American Express. Van Anda Aviation has a simple business model: make plane rental as easy as possible. Rather than…read morefocus on flight instruction, they focus on making planes super easy to rent...and that they do. They have an impressive fleet of about a dozen planes, all pretty reasonably priced and all are able to be rented with a click of a button. The location on Yelp is a little tricky as they have planes at a variety of airports, including Orlando Airpark as well as Orlando Exec and even one or two others. I was in Orlando back in October and wanted to rent a small craft to get down to Miami and explore Cedar Key. John, the owner of the business made this super seamless and easy. We talked on the phone, he reassured me of the maintenance of the planes and was very responsive. They are cool with you taking the planes out overnight. The checkout process is relatively easy. They have older planes with older radios/avionics as well as newer ones to choose from. I chose one of the older ones and it performed well for the few hours I put on it. Highly recommended!

They just added a C172 to the existing C182, Cherokee 180, and Warrior. The Warrior is based at Deland convenient for those north of the river. It can still be an inconvenience if your favorite plane is down or scheduled when you want it but the rates are great (as low as $50 per hour tach for the Warrior).

They have one instructor who has limited availability and will treat you like dirt because he knows he's the only one allowed to do checkouts. Tried to deny me access to their aircraft by telling instructor to delay my checkout and continued to collect my monthly dues (because I left a 3/5 star review for Starport FBO). They are cheap but you get what you pay for, look elsewhere.

Before going to a trip, i become familiar with the approaches of my destination. John, the man running the show at Elite has been so helpful for all these years!!! He is a real gentleman and a retired Blackhawck army pilot! He will be the first one to enjoy teaching you and demo any sim he has at the facility. I took my son one day to try the sims. Since then he became a private pilot holder at the age of 17 after 4 months of training on the real plane and a few hours on the sim. A big thanks to John for sharing and giving the vibe of flying to my boy!Keep up with the good job

I called for a small issue that I had a work-around for, but hoping to have it work correctly and within 5 minutes, the tech rep successfully broke my whole sim and it was unusable for months. He couldn't fix it and an outside company didn't care. I paid thousands of $$ extra and spent several months down to get this resolved and it's still much worse than before I called. Every time the tech tried to help, I had to make a new work-around to compensate for what he did. Finally, I gave up trying. These people don't know what they're doing. To be fair, most of their sims are one-offs and probably custom made so they make a new thing for every installation but I would shop elsewhere.
