I have to put a shout-out here. Acornhost hosts my foundation's (KBW Glass Art Educational Foundation) website. We had an issue with an online shopping cart that was driving me crazy for an entire day. I finally decided to ask Acorn if there was any chance the issue was on their end. They investigated and while their determination was that it wasn't on their end they still dug in and were able to find the problem as well as solve it for me without issue. No back and forth about what is or isn't their responsibility just a pure collaboration of effort. I was awed by their willingness to help and solve my issue quickly and efficiently. Been hosting with them through my nonprofit for years. Rarely are their issues, but in the times there are issues they are extremely responsive, personable, and the issue is typically taken care of in a matter of minutes to hours. My cpanel was full and I couldn't figure out how to fix it - a tech went in and found a series of backups with odd file names and cleared them all out for me, fixing the issues. Web hosting is a minefield, it's all crap and lies and spin and it's impossible to tell who actually owns what. And it's almost entirely built on a massive sea of fossil fuels. I was so excited to sign up with Acorn. Their customer service is very responsive. However, my company experienced so much downtime- as much as an hour a day when our website didn't work and our entire company would lose email messages for several hours a time. The response of acorn tech support was basically, "Sorry, we can't recover your emails. Sorry the server was down." They didn't do anything to fix the problems so eventually we just had to move because it was negatively impacting the business when people would send us important emails that we didn't receive; and when our website was not accessible for at least 20 minutes a day. Bummer- I think they are a well meaning company. They just have a profoundly unreliable product. read more

My experience with building websites is limited, and as a do-it-yourselfer I make mistakes here and there. Acornhost tech support has always been knowledgable and prompt to help out. Today I accidentally deleted critical files for my wordpress site and acornhost had my site restored with a backup version within 4 hours. Horrible experience in the end. I hosted with Acorn since 2005 and for many years, this was an excellent option. However, the last couple years it is NOTHING BUT strange glitchy issues, either crickets or attitude when I need support and non stop inconvenience and downtime. Goodbye Acorn. I have used Acorn Host for six years with only minor problems. They are a very small company and generally provide fast support. However, it usually takes multiple messages to get a solution. I'd give them three stars, except they botched a server change, which took down my entire site. It has taken almost a week to fix server names, host issues, and PHP problems they introduced. While one of the problems was caused by my configuration, there were no warnings about what configurations would break - or how to fix them - prior to the server change. No large company would dream of doing what this little shop did. So, know that you are getting a couple of people running a server or two out of maybe a garage? Btw, one of my clients had to threaten them with legal action just to get them to fix the server migration disaster. That hit a nerve... read more

I just purchased this domain and within the first day/week experienced billing issues, and then my website has been down the entire time, save about an hour on Saturday. They are experiencing issues to which there is no ETA. I am trying to be patient, but this is my business and I am already looking to transfer, even though it will end up costing me more in the end. I must have gotten lucky when I picked my first web host, or maybe I just got some positive Karma for going with a nicer group of folks. But I have been with this group of folks for I can't remember how long, and they have always been really fast and responsive while still being quite inexpensive. My requirements are really simple: I need something that isn't expensive but I need ti to work all the time. This is that service. In the 8? years I have been with them, they have cheerfully helped me through billing issues, server migrations, and supporting a whole dang lot of dumb questions that I've asked. They are super fast with responding to my help questions, and that is why I am writing this review. Here is the specific event. I wanted to upgrade my wordpress sites to 3.2, and I needed to use a higher version of mysql. I dunno why they were running an older version, and I don't care-- I'm sure there is some reason. Anyhow, they moved me over to another server tout suite, made sure that I was informed about what was going on, and even offered to backup my account on the old server in case I messed up. Identity politics aside (I agree with most of what I have seen on their site and FB, which isn't a lot) this is a great service at a great price, and I recommend it to my clients. read more

I have had them for years and they were fine until this last year. Their tech support appears to no longer be local and you cannot get anyone on the phone for billing or sales. Their service is rife with problems. My IP has been repeatedly blacklisted for no reason and my website is down again for NO RATIONAL REASON. My tech person hates them because they don't know what they are doing and I am GONE. read more

I'm a website administrator for an organization that uses Acorn web hosting. We had satisfactory service with Acorn for several years. In the past several months, however, downtime has increased (which no one has explained) and customer service has fallen off a cliff. Ours is a very basic website but it takes days and a dozen or more email messages to get them to perform a simple task. (They don't do telephone.) I have used Acorn for years but to echo the other reviewers, the past year and especially the past few months have been the worst.They have gone downhill in a hurry. Domains get blocked all the time, I have massive spam issues and my email is always going down. I am constantly on the phone with customer service who are very nice but ineffectual and struggle with the English language. You cannot get a local person on the phone. They simply don't answer the phone but refer you to the website. read more

As a Web designer I have purchased reseller packages from other hosting services. But over the past few years, I have also set up accounts for some clients on AcornHost, or helped them set up their accounts with AcornHost. I still manage server access for them, as well as their WordPress installations, so I have had a lot of firsthand experience with AcornHost hosting servers. I have to tell you that you are by far and away the very best. For starters you use Cpanel with Fantastico and you are running PHP5+. In addition, everything that I do on your servers is blazing fast. Auto-upgrading WordPress or plugins is instantaneous. On other hosting servers, the upgrade times seem interminable. Finally, I have never experienced a problem--no downtime, no performance issues, no email troubles, etc. Add to that the awesome rates for my non-profit clients and I am totally sold on AcornHost.
