Ha!). My whole family ended up staying at the Best Western (which I heard NOT the best choice after their stay...) and we were in a hunt to find an affordable option that didn't include infestations of ANY sorts. We stumbled upon the Munzesheimer Manor on Hotels.com and I was slightly hesitant from the price, but there was only one room available (The Kringle Cottage) in the entire town and I emailed an inquiry to Ashlee. Just from her email, I felt sincerely welcomed and right at home, so even though the price was a little more than we initially wanted to pay, we booked! My next email to her had to deal with food preferences. The last thing I wanted to be was a bother, but since the price included breakfast, I thought I would ask if she would have any options without meat, dairy, or egg (vegan). I was happy to make other accommodations if that wasn't an option, but she happily emailed me back with an "of course!" without hesitation. We were THRILLED. She mentioned that she had a gluten free guest staying that same weekend and she is always cooking for allergies or preferences. So not only was Ashlee going to provide us with food, but when we got back from the wedding, there were freshly baked vegan brownies on our bed! (Jaw dropped with hungry drool!). In the morning she greeted us on our porch with hot tea (our preference over coffee) and at 9am we walked into the dining room to gourmet meals and beautifully set table with freshly squeezed OJ, maple chia seed pudding with fresh fruit, and German pancakes with a fresh strawberry drizzle. (Food cherubs singing!!) Besides the food and fabulous service, our Kringle Cottage was the cutest damn thing west of the Mississippi!! We had our own little porch with swing and all, a claw foot tub with an adorable heated furnace nearby, and the year-round comfort (I don't care how old you are!) of Christmas decorations and cheer! It was the BEST B&B/hotel/motel stay we have EVER had! If you are even thinking twice about booking a room here or thinking of swinging through this sweet little town, PLEASE DO!! If we ever drive up to Dallas again, we will be going out of our way to stay here! :) Can't say enough about the sweet southern hospitality we received.

There is literally nothing like it. It's a 1 bdrm 1 1/2 bath IN A GRAIN SILO! But you would never know it by the inside. This home is hand crafted and designed by the owners. The way they took this vertical space and made this place is a feat in itself. Let me set the mood for you. You drive in through an electric gate on a country road in the trees of east Texas. You're 10 minutes from Canton Trade Days and 15 over to Emory, where Twigs is (look it up). Plus you're only 90 min from Dallas. The land takes your breath away. On your left is a pond. A big pond! The waterfall that changes colors is the only sound you hear besides the sounds of nature. On your right is the Silo. You have plenty of parking inside of a gate that is all for just the Silo. Beyond the main gate, up the hill, sits two cabins that the Allens also rent. That's another review for another day. Let's just say - you gotta see this place. Pulling into your private parking spot at the Silo you're greeted by Annie Oakley, the farm Great Pyrenees. She is friendly and keeps the chickens and land safe. Yes, I said ! They are the cutest things ever! And they are nowhere near the Silo. They are way on the other side of the property in their own area. But be sure to say hi to Speedy and Rulio and their harems. In front of the Silo there is a fire pit/grill with Adirondack chairs. This is all nestled among the majestic trees with a full view of the pond. There is also a swing out in the trees. So cool. Up a beautiful redwood porch you enter through this gorgeous and heavy stained wood door with a cute little peephole box you open. You're immediately greeted by the iron spiral staircase which takes you to the bedroom and full bath upstairs. As you look up you see this stunning hand cut wood ceiling. It's a work of art. I stare at it in amazement. To the right is a spacious 1/2 bath. In front of you there are a living room and kitchen. The most beautiful fireplace is on, soothing spa music is playing on the Roku tv and the place smells like a spa! The kitchen has a 3/4 fridge with freezer (ample space and holds gallon jugs ), a microwave, electric stove/oven and a beautiful stainless steel sink with a window looking out to the woods. Gorgeous! Btw, I cooked four or five meals here and you have everything you need. The owner has thought of every detail. From the S'more's and coffee stations to the satin sleep masks on your bedside table you will feel pampered. The living room has the most gorgeous fireplace (which turns different colors and has a heat option that works so well), this hand carved Edge wood mantel with a large flatscreen with Roku tv. There is also the cutest little table next to one of the windows that is perfect for meals. The couch faces this fireplace and is right under the peak of this gorgeous ceiling. This couch reclines and turns into a full-size bed. There is a faux fur rug in front of the fireplace which pops with the modern industrial design of the space. Up the spiral staircase - which is easy to climb- you have a queen size bed that is super comfortable. Much higher quality than any AirBNB or rental property at which I've stayed. The bed is right under the custom wood ceiling and faces the grand windows that look right out to the woods. And the windows have remotes to close and open the shades. There is an oscillating fan that will definitely cool you off in the summer if the AC doesn't do the trick. The room has two side tables for the bed with the cutest little industrial pipe lamps, a pipe rack for clothes with a shelf, a large basket for whatever you need and a valet stand for your suitcase. Such a nice touch. The bathroom is stunning. There is a fog-less, lighted mirror you can change the light setting on. Quartz countertop over cabinets with plenty of space for your items. And the shower- it is built on a round wall, y'all. This is insane! The owners didn't waste an inch of space. The shower is tiled with this gorgeous rock pattern that you just have to see (and it feels good on your feet). And this shower has so much space, complete with a built-in nook for your stuff. Overall, I just love being out at Allen Acres. Doesn't matter which home you rent (Lucky Buck, Krazy Kalf or the Silo) you are going to love this experience. Allen Acres is quiet, serene, enchanting and something you have to see to understand. I HIGHLY recommend Allen Acres Resort. If you're heading to Trade Days or just want a relaxing few days this is the place to stay. It's an easy weekend destination for people in the DFW metroplex. Suzanne the host is ultra accommodating and friendly and she made our stay memorable for sure. I loved the long driveway off street location of the cottage. My wife and I made breakfast in the morning in the spacious updated kitchen and we especially loved the cold fridge. Plenty of amazing artwork everywhere which adds a nice flair. All in all, I'd recommend the place very highly and I will be returning this year too! Stay here!

This was my first visit, so I can only speak from my own experience, but I left feeling refreshed. If you're a nature lover, you'll probably fall in love with this place. There are beautiful ponds, towering trees, plenty of birds, and gorgeous scenery everywhere you look. I visited in July, and despite the humidity, I was pleasantly surprised by the almost complete lack of mosquitoes. One thing to know: the atmosphere depends heavily on the weather. My first two days were rainy, so there were only a handful of guests. Personally, I loved it because I was looking for peace and quiet. If you're hoping for a livelier social scene, check the forecast before booking. From my experience, weekdays are generally slower, while weekends are where the energy picks up. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and had excellent A/C--which you'll definitely appreciate in the summer. Service deserves a special shoutout. The owners and staff were incredibly responsive; anything I needed (within reason) was just a text away and handled quickly. My accommodations included a small cooking range, but the cookware was fairly minimal. The café kitchen was happy to provide extra items when needed, but I'd recommend sticking to simple one-pot meals. The mini fridge also fills up quickly, so pack accordingly. If you're offered a tour of the property, **take it.** I expected a quick walkthrough, but it ended up being one of the highlights of my trip. It was informative, interactive, and gave me a much greater appreciation for the property and its history. Just remember your sunscreen and something to drink. As for the crowd, the vibe is refreshingly body-positive and welcoming. If you're expecting a glamorous **Miami South Beach** runway, this probably isn't your scene--and that's exactly the charm. The people I met were genuine, friendly, and there to reconnect with themselves, nature, and, if the opportunity arose, other like-minded guests. A few practical tips: * Bring your own toiletries--they aren't provided. * Complimentary filtered water is available on tap. * The café is fantastic. The food was genuinely delicious, but it's only open on weekends, so plan ahead if you're visiting during the week. * Nearby towns aren't far away, but delivery options are limited and can get expensive. * Wi-Fi is only available around the common areas, although cell service was surprisingly reliable. * Bring comfortable shoes if you plan to explore beyond the pool deck. * There are complimentary canoes available for the main pond, which made for a relaxing afternoon. One piece of personal advice: don't come trying to impress anyone. Come with an open mind, an open heart, and be unapologetically yourself. That's when this place really shines. They have board games in the main house you can play etc. We stayed in one of the cabins and it was nicely decorated and clean and had everything you need (outside of a bathroom which we knew when we booked it). I would advise providing a mirror at least in the room since there isn't a bathroom. Also, think about printing out a visual map of the property so people can explore on their own and find their way back easier (I can do this for you if you like). The dock at the lake/pond was beautiful and people were fishing and kayaking. All in all a nice little excursion out of the city with "family"!
