Great prices, friendly managers, and it's close to trade days. I would stay here again. Thank you!

First, let me say this. "Hotel" is more like "Bed and Breakfast" in this instance. There are about 8 rooms at the Armadillo, all with a unique charm. If you don't want a place where you will regularly interact with strangers, this may not be the place for you. Next, the owner Denise is a hoot. She painted the art on the building, and is so funny. When you call The Armadillo you seemingly get her cell, and she is chatty in the best ways. When I called she stated that the weekend I was going to be there was, coincidentally, the first weekend that they would be open as The Armadillo, and they were going to remain at 25% capacity due to COVID. I needed a spot to stay in to visit family during 4th of July weekend, so I snagged it quickly. She informed me that it was $125 a night, but if I paid cash I could pay $100 a night (COVID deal, she said). That rate is standard for the area. When you get here - DON'T PAY TO PARK AT 1ST MONDAY. you can't reach it from that parking lot (generally speaking). What you want to do is drive down 17 to the backside of the mountain and you can park there. From here, walking to "The Mountain" is doable. I did it 4 times no problem. The room was clean, but certainly lacked many creature comforts. The first night I met the other couple in our hotel while we were at the Stage on the Mountain and she said that if you look around the place you can find a fan somewhere. In the summer you need it, especially in an upstairs room because the AC isn't strong strong. It's central upstairs, and window units downstairs. Also, they don't have any TVs at all. The aesthetic is Wild West downtown outside. Denise owns many of these and the innkeepers, Stewart and Sonja (Delightfully chatty folks) showed me the Hummingbird ($140 a night and GREAT A/C), and told me about her other property, "Cadillac Ranch" (Soon to open). At 8 each night there is a small stage at the Mountain (a short walk) that holds free concerts (seats about 12-15 people) and you can bring your drinks. Forget your drinks? Follow the Daqauri' s To-Go signs and they have some great ones you can walk back with. I had a great experience here, and would suggest it to anyone looking for a unique experience, if you don't mind the lack of creature comforts that come with the charm.

Bugs all over the floor, bugs in the bed (bed bugs), tiny bugs and fecal matter that turns red with water in crevices of mattresses, bunch of nasty stuff on the dust ruffle that looks like something that l'm not going to say but when you see the pictures you'll get what I'm talking about . There were also several spots around the bed that looked like dried blood!! At 11:30 that night they moved us to an upstairs room after telling them that my mother is handicap and can't do stairs, but they said it was the only room they had. We could not find any place else to stay and they had already billed us. Heck they called us as 7pm to find out when we would be there even though we told them ahead of time we'd be there around 10pm and they told us we had until 3am. They were already trying to rent out from under us! After arguing and arguing with them. They gave me 20% off my first night and we had to deal with the stairs. The second bedroom that we went to was not as bad, but it was still nasty. My mother had to set up a doctors appointment because of the issues going up and down the stairs caused her.

When I got tired, I went to my room and laid across the bed in the AC sipping on my complimentary Coke/water from the mini fridge. Then I could shop some more! At night you can walk to several local tasty restaurants. There's home cooking, Italian, Mexican and sandwiches. There's also a winery across the street. It appears that Canton is proudly dry. The winery can only serve wine, no beer and no hard liquor--not for lack of trying. If you want something that's not beer you will have to drive to Applebee's. I however had two glasses of wine and cooler of beer in my room at the B&B. If you want to watch television, there's a comfy main room up front with a VCR and cable. Bathrooms are not in the rooms, but each room has an assigned bathroom down the hall. You don't share bathrooms but you do have to leave your room to get there. They have robes in the rooms so you don't have to shuffle around in your skivvies. The building doesn't look like it was originally purposed for a B&B but it works. The rooms are cute, but don't expect a super high end room. They are exactly what you'd expect for the price and location. Best thing is the location. I can go to Canton, park my car and not have to worry about driving anywhere for the rest of the trip. Owners are super fantastic nice and served us up sweet potato pancakes with sausage and fruit for breakfast. They allowed our teen daughters to sleep past check-out and gave us recommendations on places to hit on the way out. Next time I go to Canton, I will stay here.

(We had stopped in to see the Inn a few years ago and had looked forward to staying there) & were esp excited to stay within walking distance of the market. A few weeks before our trip, I attempted to call Canton Square to verify our reservation (thank goodness!!!) and reached 2 non-working numbers. I found another number on their website and received a recording from Oct 2016 stating that the Inn was full for Nov 2016 and to call back. What??? That was 6 months earlier! I finally called the Canton Chamber of Commerce and spoke with a nice young man who explained that the Inn's owners might be there closer to the First Monday weekend, but that he would have them call if he saw them. A week or so passed and my sister called the Chamber in another attempt to reach the Inn. TWO DAYS BEFORE our trip, a man from the Inn called my sister and said due to a "family emergency" they had cancelled our reservation! (Obviously upset, we were lucky to find a hotel room for that weekend at that late date.) While we were in Canton we spoke to someone who worked at a store near the Inn who told us that the new owners had let the Inn run down and were not dependable, that it hadn't been open for a while & that there was NO "family emergency." Now almost 2 months later (& 6 months since we paid) we have not gotten our money back and have no way to contact the owners. Crooks!!!

I was told AFTER I checked, and that their Wi-Fi was out and would not be repaired for days. They did give me a 10% discount because of this. It was 103° outside, and the room had not had its individual air conditioner on at all, so it was an oven. I turned on the air conditioner, said at the very lowest temperature, setting and highest fan, setting, and it never got below around 80, even in the middle of the night. The carpet had cigarette burns all over it, even though it was supposedly a non-smoking room. Almost every fixture, like the bathroom faucet, the towel rack, the sink, had been reinstalled and the old holes very poorly patched. The swimming pool, which looks large on their advertising photos, was the size of a postage stamp. No shade, no comfortable chairs Several flies in the room, and I had to kill eight different crickets, crawling around on the floor. I'm not a snob, I'm comfortable with your average motel room, but this one was more like a homeless shelter. And that, frankly, is unfair to the homeless. They're usually much cleaner than this rathole!
